I saw Dr. Alex Carrillo Kashani. I was barely able to walk when I came in, suffering from chemo related sores on the soles of my feet. He was able to remove the hard skin and the root of the problem. Extremely professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. read more

Poor communication. Doesn't return calls and or doesn't answer them. No email listed on website. Not helpful when you do call. If you do get an email back and they tell you something's been attached, there's nothing attached and it takes weeks for them to respond. The response is unhelpful. Charged me a very high amount for a 5 min phone call and called it telehealth, when it was a followup/answer to an appointment that I had. Not sure if that is typical but the cost felt exhorbitant, and I was already charged a high cost for the appointment I did had. Doctor told me I had to go to the Walking Store to get an exact measurement of my foot which was mindboggling to hear since I was at a podiatrist's office and was being charged. How do you not have a device to do this? Doctor ran at least 20 min late and didn't apologize for the delay, and when they saw me for my concern, said "how do you function?" when she looked at my feet - which was rude. This is one of very few reviews I've written but figured I'd let everyone know that I do not recommend this place. read more

Dr. Massaband has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. He was so snotty in his tone from the beginning of my appointment and did not seem to care about my concerns. I'm livid after experiencing poor treatment from him. Also, the receptionist is a perfect reflection of her boss! Worst medical experience of my life. He doesn't seem to give a hoot about people who are scared to death coming to him for help. I felt like he was mocking me. Avoid this guy like the plague and go to SCOI in Van Nuys instead. read more

Find another doctor! You will be overcharged! I went to see Dr. B. David Massaband at their Marina del Rey office to treat the onychomicosis I had in my right foot. He asked me if I had ever had a sample of the nail being sent to a lab for a proper diagnosis. Since I hadn't and the diagnosis made by my primary physicians were based on visual observation, I agreed to have a sample sent to the lab for a factual diagnosis. In the meantime, he prescribed a topical anti fungal solution called Jublia and he suggested a follow-up appointment a month after to determine if I needed to take an oral fungal drug. So, all along I was being treated for onychomycosis. My responsibility for that first office visit was $175. Collecting a nail sample to send to the lab was considered "surgery" so my Bluecross insurance got billed $500 dollars for "surgery". Finally, for the lab results from Bakotic Pathology Associates Ll my insurance got billed $432.00 and my financial responsibility was $150.62. Up to this moment, I had no complaints. All of this were legitimate charges. After 3 weeks without hearing anything about the lab results I called their office to find out if they had already received them. The office assistant brushed me off by saying that she would request them and that the doctor would call me the following day. When Dr. B. David Massaband called, he left a voicemail asking to call him back. In our 1-minute phone conversation all he said was that the lab results confirmed what we already knew. I had onychomycosis and that at our next appointment he would prescribe the oral anti fungal drug. Next thing I know, that phone conversation was billed to my insurance as an office visit for $175!!!!!! I called the office to complain about it since I couldn't comprehend why to find out if they had my lab results I had to pay $175. The office assistant corrected me when I was saying that I got billed $175 by stating that they had billed my insurance. Unbelievable!! I had to clarify to her that I had a PPO with a copay. Therefore, I also had a financial responsibility. No doctor charges for that. Most of the offices will post your lab results online so that the patient can access them. Additionally, I was going to see him a week later so all of it could have been discussed at the follow-up visit. No need to say that I cancelled my follow-up and I will never step foot again in any of the Tower Podiatry offices. They have just lost a patient for their greed. Sad to say because I still believe Dr. B. David Massaband is very personable but I don't like this sneaky charges. read more

As a result of being on the receiving end of an overly aggressive pedicure I developed trauma to my two big toes. I neglected the discomfort for a while but ultimately decided to see a podiatrist just to make sure no real damage had occurred. I found Dr. Massaband by Googling Podiatrists near me and I am so glad Google directed me to him! Dr. Massaband was so kind and affable. His easy going nature instantly put me at ease and made what I was dreading to be a very pleasant experience. I can be very neurotic about visits to the doctor and am very sensitive about my feet! Dr. Massaband took my dramatic screaming and hysterics in stride and continually sought to calm my very irrational reaction. Further, when I called the office a few days after my visit freaking out, he and his receptionist could not have been more kind and understanding. If you are looking for an empathetic Podiatrist that will walk you through what could be an awkward/unpleasant experience, Dr. Massaband is the guy! I am forever grateful for his expertise, but more importantly, his kind nature! read more

We are so grateful to Dr.Hassid! My teen had an ingrown toenail that bothered him more than a year. I showed him previously to another podiatrist in the Cedars Sinai, and to another one while we were in NYC in vacation. They had only cut a bit the nail at the edge and that did not helped at all to stop redness and pain my son felt. But Dr. Hassid quickly understood the issue - he did a procedure with local anesthesia, and removed the ingrown piece of nail from the inside. It was quick, smooth and fun. After one week my son had a healthy looking toenail, with no pain anymore. I highly recommend Dr.Hassid! He is polite, easy communicative, and a real professional! read more

I explained to him that in order to do my procedure I need to be under general anesthesia. Right away him and his staff scheduled me for the procedures I needed. I am so happy that I found him. I am extremely disappointed in Dr Arash Hassid and his office in Marina Del Ray. I went to him last summer and was told I needed a $600 insert for my foot problem and I of course said fine. He referred me for an MRI to further review my case. I did the MRI, and had the CD sent to his office. I called a few times and his office staff told me they would give him the message and have him reach out regarding my MRI. Fast forward approximately 5 months and I have yet to get a call even though I called several more times. I recently got a bill for the additional specialist co-pay (they originally charged me the wrong amount). I promptly called the office and said I would like to pay this co-pay and also wanted to follow up with the Dr. regarding my MRI. I was told I would get a call back for sure the next day (they were having problems with internet and couldn't take my payment). It's been a week and I just called the office now. I was put on hold and when the receptionist that answered the phone came back I informed her that I want to pay my copay and also follow up with the Dr. at which point she said sorry can I put you on hold again. When she came back on she said "I need your name since you haven't given it to my yet". My response was I didn't get a chance to give you my name since you put me on hold, to which she responded, she doesn't appreciate my tone! I hung up the phone as I decided that I will not continue a conversation with this type of customer service. This is what I get for promptly trying to pay my copay. Also I still have no clue about my MRI. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Massaband! Because of my horrible feet, I gone to many different doctors over the course of the last few years. Let me tell you that I have found my last podiatrist, Dr. Massaband. As far as I am concerned, he is an angel. Four years ago I my feet were hurting so bad that they were curtailing my social life. No matter what kind of shoe I wore, within a couple of hours they were a burning uncomfortable mess. After years of wearing high heels I had developed bunions and hammer toes on both feet. I addition, I had developed a severe case of planters facetious and the bones in my flat feet had not healed properly after a previous break. I went to several specialist who prescribed orthotics, pain killers and arch supports. Neither of which worked. I literally could not walk and it was beginning to affect my employment. By the time I arrived at Dr. Massabands door, I was desperate for his help. He is a very kind and skilled professional, so when he advised surgery, I went for it. What choice did I have? I am so glad and I thank my lucky stars everyday! My feet are mending nicely and as motivation I have a pair of 6 inch heels as inspiration. I am sure that I will be wearing them this time next Xmas! I guess that once you have bunions, hammer toes are just a matter of time. Much to my surprise, the bunionectomy was not bad at all. Forget about all the horror stories about the pain and go see Dr Massaband before you get them!!! I have been to both the Encino and the Beverly Hills office. so if you see this post twice, you will know why. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Hassid! I went in for plantar fasciitis and Dr. Hassid was very thorough. He explained to me possible causes

Everyone at Tower Podiatry, from the doctors to the receptionists is friendly, professional and engaged. It feels like they really are invested in you as a patient. I was treated by Dr.Pegah Samouhi and I can't say enough good things about her. I have Parkinson's and she was so patient with me, despite my involuntary movements. She took the time to explain what she was doing, why she was doing it and what my possible options were; this inspires confidence. I had a badly deformed toe which had caused almost constant pain for over a year, and had made walking an ordeal. It eventually became infected. Dr.Samouhi performed surgery, and within a week I was pain-free and able to walk short distances. Within a month, I was walking normally and hiked 2 miles! All this with no pain. Dr. Hassid is incredible! I broke my fifth metatarsal bone and was recommended by my primary care physician to see Dr. Hassid. The minute he received an email with the authorization approval to see me, he called me....at 9:30pm from home! He went out of his way to contact me ASAP so that he could schedule an appointment with me. I met with him the next day even though it was his day off. Each time I went in for a follow up he was very attentive and I felt like he actually cared for me and my situation personally. If you have any foot or ankle troubles, I highly recommend being under this man's care. My foot took about 8 weeks to heal, and I am proud to say it was under the guidance of Dr. Hassid. p.s. I was seen at the Tower Podiatry location in Encino on Ventura Blvd. The office was clean, bright and the receptionist was a sweet heart! Thanks again, Dr. Hassid! read more

I thought Dr. Massaband was great doctor at first, but then he tried to charge me for foot supports and telling me I had to get or my foot pain would not get better. Of course my insurance which BTW I have very good coverage being a government plan did not cover it. But good news from this the doctor told me I was not to be charged and my bill was adjusted. I thought that was classy. I would still recommend and I saw him again and he gave me a discount on services my insurance company would not pay. read more

This was my first visit to a podiatrist. A few callouses had to be removed from the bottom of my feet and I was told Dr. Massaband was available when I made the appointment. The wait time in the office was a bit long but my guess was that it was my first visit and it was just the norm. Dr. Massaband put me at ease and he was very warm and personable. He examined my feet then started shaving off the callouses. We chatted the entire time while he was tending to my problems. He did recommend getting my bunions removed at some point in the future but never once tried to upsale or sell stuff that I did not need. I highly recommend this doctor and his office! read more

I appreciate the call from Dr. Massaband today. As I stated, he is nice and caring. I'm sure he has many patients. In my opinion, if he can train his office staff to be more professional, I would consider seeing him again. I left out in the first review, which I had forgotten, the young lady did take me in the back and sat me in the chair, I sat there for 30 minutes, that's when I told them I had to go, and they told me to make another appointment, apathy is not good in the medical field, especially for patients that are already dealing with other ailments and stress that could possibly end their lives, I'm still upset about that last visit. read more

Dr. Massaband should not be allowed to practice medicine! He completed a bunionectomy for me and I was left with an infection so bad that I needed to go to a wound specialist in order to get better. What's worse is when I went to his office in terrible pain and showed him the infection which by the way was horrific to look at he simply responded by telling me to go home and take zinc. Also, the screw that he left in post surgery is now a bump that is visible as it protrudes out from the skin on the top of my foot. I will have to live with this for the rest of my life. I seriously caution anyone contemplating having him do surgery on you to reconsider your choice in doctors. read more

by Mark Winn Dr. David Massaband; Dr. of Podiatry is an integral part of The Cedars' Sinai Medical group; Tower Podiatry. As well as an integral part of a practice in Encino, Ca. First Dr. Massaband treated my wife' s mother, then did the bunion ectomies on both my wife' s feet. It was later that I was introduced to him for sundry issues I was dealing with my own feet. From the warm greeting of Dr. Massaband' s staff in his waiting room to his swift calling me into one of the examining rooms I felt my feet and I were in good hands. And what is truly a breath of fresh air is Dr. Massaband' s relaxed and really nice and reassuring manner. In addition; his warm smile especially helped put both my feet and I at ease. And as he began some minor procedures; he made suggestions as to how to better my condition thru some preventive treatment as opposed to going the surgery route. Also reassuring. I've seen Dr. Massaband and Dr. Hassid for different foot issues this calendar year. Both are terrific, kind doctors who make you feel totally comfortable in their care. Each doctor is a really sound communicator; both possess a good sense of humor. What I really like about each doctor is neither pushed me into aggressive treatments that would have put money in their pockets. Instead, each advised me on the more conservative approach, which in both cases did not cost me anything. They put me, the patient first. read more

Highly not recommended. This place will do everything to overcharge you. Do not trust what they tell you about your fees regarding the office visit. Few months ago I severely sprained my ankle, so I decided to visit their office solely based on their good reviews on Yelp. I called them ahead of my visit to find out if my insurance works, they took my insurance information and told me that my visit would cost $70. This was one of only few places that said they accept my insurance, so I decided to visit the office. The office visit was for like 15 mins. Dr. Hassid just looked at my ankle and instead of addressing my ankle sprain tried to sell orthotics telling me that I have flat feet which I was aware of for decades. Then he said that I will need a physical therapy and wrote me a prescription and gave me an ankle brace without even asking anything. Before leaving I asked the front desk again if $70 is all I need to pay and they said yes telling me that the insurance is going to cover. The visit was not the worst experience but later after 3 months they sent me a statement that I owe them $126.68. The office visit was $185 and their so called 'the insurance covers' was deduction of $27.05 and the ankle brace which was sold at a local retail store for $30 was charged as $150. That was just a simple ankle brace without anything special. If it was going to be that expensive they should have told me before handing it to me. I called the office to address the problem and what the receptionist was keep telling me was that I should have checked my own insurance before I made a visit and also that next time I should always ask what I will really end up paying. Maybe I was stupid enough to not ask what I will really end up paying, but their way of doing a business made me to write a review for the first time ever in my life. I tell you again, do not trust what they tell you. read more

I have sincerely never encountered a more thorough doctor in my Life! And I've been fortunate to have had some great ones! From the minute I first walked into Dr. Hassid's office, he immediately went into action with what I would discover was a ruptured Achilles. In fact, he would not let me leave the office without taking all necessary precautions, citing that it would be unethical & irresponsible of him to let me leave without going into a cast. Needless to say, after much deliberation, I acquiesced. From the moment of my surgical procedure, to the days after, to weeks later when I would eventually begin Physical Therapy, Dr. Hassid was accessible, attentive & encouraging every step of my process. But very honest and upfront, too. Not an ounce of arrogance on his part at all, but complete humility in his authority of every best step of recovery for me. I visited him on several occasions, in both, his West LA/Cedars-Sinai Towers office, as well as his Encino office. Always efficient and aware of my time, Dr. Hassid wasted no time in ensuring that my care of recovery was his priority. And as far as his office staff?! Absolutely incredible. And I mean that seriously. Any questions I had or messages I'd left for the doctor were handled timely and respectably. I went from just wanting to go into boot, to wanting to walk to now running/hiking over 15+ miles/ week again, thanks to Dr. Hassid, his amazing referral to my physical therapist, Don Nelson at PROformance PT and both of their incredible staffs. I say all of this out of eternal gratefulness. Should anyone ever encounter the challenges I once faced, I would more than enthusiastically refer them to Dr. Hassid. And have. Final note: I am in the entertainment business -- in-front of the camera. Dr. Hassid's care & concern helped me gain my confidence to return to my television show as if I've never missed a beat. And my producers now love him, too! Thank You, Dr. Hassid! read more

For years I had avoided dealing with a more permanent solution to the bunion on my left toe. I tried putting a spacer and bracing it, but it really wasn't helping. I finally asked for a referral and several of my friends recommended I see Dr. Hassid at Tower Podiatry. I called the office and was able to make an appointment rather quickly. He's located on the Cedars campus, so it was a perfect location. After I checked in Dr. Hassid came in to evaluate my toe. He spent a lot of time discussing all my options and the potential consequences and together we came up with the solution which would be best for my condition and lifestyle. I had scheduled the procedure for the following month to give me some time to speak with other podiatrists for a second and third opinion. Frankly, I'm surprised some doctors get great reviews. The other podiatrists had awful bedside manner and ego issues. None of them cared for me personally, they only saw my bunion and the surgery to fix it. I followed up with his staff, particularly Narine, who took care of everything for me. The best part is that Dr. Hassid works with Cedars who also accepts my insurance. They reviewed all my expenses with me very carefully and discussed what my billable portion would be. There were no surprises or hidden fees. After Dr. Hassid performed the surgery he checked in with me regularly to make sure both my toe and I were doing well. Now my toe looks great, feels great, and I can barely see a scar. I would definitely see him again and recommend Dr. Hassid and his office to any one looking for a podiatrist. read more
