Brooklyn College runs on two different sets of tracks. A set of tracks for the old guard, and a set…read moreof tracks for everybody else. You will quickly notice favoritism, particularly with the registrar. Be sure to pay your tuition in person, the registrar has been known to cancel classes by alleging that your tuition check arrived late. Many Professors at Brooklyn College have agendas to run. In addition to teaching, the typical Professor has a charity to support, a cause to support, or something to whine about. There are more Marxist's on the payroll at BC than anybody can count. BC is also a very competitive place. If you are in a Laboratory do not leave your experiment unattended. Students have been known to sabotage other students work. Do not share your written work with anyone. Plagiarism is a bad habit with the old guard at BC. Once upon a time BC was very well maintained, these days it is falling apart. There are serious issues in Boylan and James hall's. The Library clock has been broken for years. Where the maintenance money is going is a mystery to me. BC had some great Professors once upon a time. They have all retired, and alas some have passed. Hans Trefousse(History), Peter Brancazio(Physics), David Minars(Accounting), Jim Johnson(Speech), and John Blamire(Biology) are all gone. What you are stuck with these days are a bunch of antiquated buffoons that are totally out of touch with reality. Best of luck if you go, you may want to look for a job instead. There are a lot of businesses hiring now that the pandemic is under control. Why wait?

This school was very big. There was a total of three schools in one. This building had some great…read moreartwork. It spoke Volumes. The kids made a great point. They don't like the metal detectors when you walk in the building. They stated that it makes the school seem like a jail. It put negativity into the atmosphere. I can understand that it is for the kids safety. There were also a lot of security throughout building so I felt safe. This school was fairly different from schools in Baltimore. Majority of the schools in Baltimore have to wear school uniforms. This school had no dress code. The school was clean and I felt comfortable here. My favorite part was that the school has restorative practices and it is a real Expeditionary Learning school. I learned a lot from my visit here.

There is little to no real teaching, you are expected to teach yourself everything using ATI modules. When you fail and ask for help or a review, they just tell you to "read more and there is no time to review." You can read everything front to back, and the exams still feel designed in a way that makes them almost impossible to pass - with correct choices being marked as incorrect choice (despite having proof that that is what the book says). It is almost as if the exams are rigged. Even many outside adjunct professors have said it feels like students are set up to fail, possibly so the school can keep charging tuition, especially since many of the nursing credits don't transfer elsewhere. The get to simply re-bill the same people for an education that they already paid for and did not receive. They do not take accountability. When 62 out of 65 students FAIL, they blame the students instead of addressing poor teaching AND the fact that they do not provide CLINICAL EXPERIENCE. The same instructors can have failure rates of 90%+ semester after semester, and nothing changes. You are essentially paying for an education that you are not receiving. Clinical experience, which is required, is limited or nonexistent, yet they still charge full tuition. On top of that, the environment is very discouraging. Staff often speak to students in a condescending, demeaning and disrespectful way, like you are a child. Most nursing students are there because they genuinely want to help people, but that passion is not supported here. Instead, it feels like constant stress, hazing and intimidation. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. Go to a program where students are actually supported, where the graduation rate is high, and where people 90% of students pass the NCLEX. Out of a class of over 60 students, many of whom are repeating the semester, only about 2-3 are currently passing HALF of their classes. That should tell you everything. I'm sharing this to genuinely warn future students. If you're serious about becoming a nurse, choose a different program.

Freshman here, has been a horrible experience since i first registered as a student. Not only did i…read morehave problem picking classes because my advisor did something to where i couldn't register, but when the actual class started....phewwww, the professors are unorganized like never before. i had to redo assignment due to professor UPDATING a SYLLABUS....like they added assignment instruction 2 days away from the due date.... most students already have that done or damn near done. Professors just talk and dont teach, some do...but who want to gamble? I mean i have to do study 2-4 hours each class... A DAY...maybe 8-10 hours A DAY. i GET NO SLEEP, NO cooking i cant do nothing because professor only want to talk and not teach. i gotta teach myself PLUS the assignments. The professor won't even have a lesson ready.... just them and a dry erase board...which mean notes are basically just dialongue....wtf. i have to transfer oh and i have a vpn so location will show up different but trust i hate this school so much i am here to write about it

My first day at Mercy College was great. I was completely surprised to see the president at the…read morecollege today because the students didn't know that he was going to be there. He is very welcoming and nice and he even sang a little portion of a song with the Vice President of the Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses. They ordered pizzas and beverages for the staff and the students which was very nice. To be completely honest, I was a bit apprehensive about coming to Mercy College after my previous college closed down. However, I'm glad that I decided to continue my education with Mercy College. There were major renovations that were not addressed previously but Mercy College made sure to repair what needed to fixed to accommodate its students. That speaks volumes to me because it was important to the students. I'm excited about what the year holds for me and my fellow classmates. Way to go Mercy!

The most organized, professional and courteous environment for COVID vaccine…read more I had a 2:45 appointment: arrived @1:45 and at 2pm I received my vaccine. By 2:24 pm I was finished. The process is simple: Pre- visit fill out NYS COVID- 19 vaccine form and a registration form with your own personal ID is sent via email. Bring government issued ID, insurance card and a copy of the registration and vaccine form. When I arrived at the College, I first had to enter a tent like entrance and was greeted by a rep who inspected my forms. I then was asked to enter another pre- vaccine area to confirm I was actually me: name, birthday as home address. I was then asked to enter the COVID vaccination area: the College's gymnasium. I then was told to go directly to table 6 where Mitchell and Williams were awaiting me. Mitchell asked me a series of health questions and then Williams vaccinated my arm. That simple! I was given my Vaccination Card and was asked to wait 15 minutes in the waiting area to ensure the procedure went smooth. In the way out, another rep inspected my card and stated I will be back in three weeks to get my second dose. The National Guard and FEMA staff are exceptional, professional and courteous. Special shout out to Mitchell and Williams; they both were awesome. My mom received her vaccine three weeks ago from a young woman National Guard named Ellis and she too spoke highly of her and this whole process. Well done Medgar Evers!!
