It was strange to hear Alan asking us : " You don't know who Paul Revere was so let me tell you" or going into great details on such a trite subjects like explaining us what "brownstone" building was (we were a group of mature women, but felt like on a kindergarten tour !). I don't want to be rude as Alan is a mature kind gentleman in his late 80's, but this was a waste of our money and time. Alex was so immensely nice and helpful, and her funny stories and engaging ways of telling them made this easily something I will never forget! Next, I went on a tour of Lexington and Concord, which was on New Year's Day. To be honest, I was suprised a tour company would even give tours on New Year's, so props to them for that alone. Now at first, I assumed this would be a simple tour of the landmarks of the fight only, but I was wrong. The tour went all over Lexington and Concord, going to visit famous author's houses (who knew 4 extremely famous people could live in such a small town at once!), and Author's Ridge, which was super cool (see photos below). This tour was with Mark, who's humor and kindness made this tour at least 10 times better. I am so happy that of all the tour guides I could have chosen, I ended up with Boston Hidden Gems! We were more than pleased by our walking tour and we got more than expected. My initial thoughts were... this looked boring compared to the lively NYC. My friends wanted to do a tour in Boston and I was pleasantly surprised with what I got. This was our first history tour and we loved it! Truthfully, I sucked in history class when I was in school and learning about history via books was never fun. But this tour was different. I've heard of the tea party and Paul Revere, but learning about it in the area it took place was much more educational compared to any history class I've ever had!
