If you find yourself moving to Crescent City, Seawood is your best bet for housing. It seems that…read moreeveryone in town has lived here for at least a little while. Leases are on a month-to-month basis, so I suppose new residents stay here until they find a place to buy. The units are really spacious, and everyone gets a garage. We had a 2BR plus loft, which was far more room than we needed. But the rent was still half the cost of our previous city apartment, so we splurged. The staff is really the best I've encountered. And I've lived in a LOT of apartments! Every maintenance request was completed quickly (usually the same day), and they didn't just do it half-way. At move-in, our carpet had a terrible smell. When I told them, they simply replaced the carpet. When our shades started to sag, they put in new ones the same day. I was very impressed. They took every request with a smile and took care of it quickly. I felt safe living here. Best of all, it is out of the tsunami evacuation zone, so I didn't fear being swept away by the ocean.

In aug I called to get my apt # and was told they could not give me an apt anymore. I was moving from 800+ miles away. And was left without a home! In other words they are very unprofessional and unorganized!

We did not sell the property for what comparable, undamaged houses would have sold for - my family lost tens of thousands of dollars. Then we had to invest still more money into the property just to get it to the point of being able to sell it and have it livable for a new owner. Do not sign the agreement for arbitration. I have no relationship, personal or otherwise with Ms. Burley. If you use Ms Burley to manage your property, you will pay $1200 a year for a rent collector, and get left with as little of your property left as her conscience allows.

Don't let them swindle you!…read more We had a horrible experience moving to Crescent City thanks to the help of Earlene Burley (the owner, from what I understand). We were moving from Washington to CA and we called numerous property management agencies until we found a rental that sounded appealing. It was being listed through North Woods. I called Earlene for info and she made the house sound wonderful. She sent a few pictures and the house looked ok from the pics, but as it turns out they were very misleading - you know, the kinds of pictures that are taken from afar or at a certain angle so as to hide the worst parts of a room. We made the foolish decision to accept the rental site unseen since we couldn't afford to drive down to CA and back up to WA just to look at rentals. We took Earlene's word for it and we certainly regretted it. After driving for 12 hours we arrived at the rental office. Earlene was out of town that day so another woman helped us (I can't remember her name but this other woman was very nice and friendly). We got the key to the house and drove over there. The house was horrid! It had barely been cleaned, the grass in the lawn was 16" tall, and as we were pulling up a repair guy was replacing the stove. We were told the stove replacement would be done long before we moved in. He dumped the old stove in the yard and left. The house was very old and starting to fall apart, the front door was covered with rust, the bathroom door didn't function properly, NONE of the heaters worked right, it was in desperate need of new paint, the floors had been to hell and back, the fireplace had loose bricks, it was not cleaned worth a damn, etc. Next door there was a loud, crazy dog barking the whole time. We were not happy. We went back to the office and insisted on our money back. I spoke to Earlene over the phone and she took no responsibility for the situation. I told her how dirty the house was and she suggested I clean it. This was the last thing we needed after such a long drive in a U-Haul. In the end we managed to get our deposit back but we were completely homeless. We had been planning to move into this house for over a month. We tried to plan ahead and had already made all the appropriate address changes. All in vein, apparently. We spent the next 2 days pulling our hair out in a hotel room as we scrambled to find a suitable rental. Luckily we found an awesome house through Bayside Reality and everything worked out for the best in the end. But it wasn't easy and I hold North Woods largely responsible seeing as how they drastically mislead us about the condition of the rental. As it turns out, this agency has a reputation in this town for pulling this kind of crap. Do not go through North Woods realty. Save yourself some time and go through Bayside or Ming Tree. You'll thank yourself later.

I actually moved to Crescent City California about 5 years before that building on Front Street in Crescent City was remodeled and turned into apartments. I wanted to move into the Surf Apartments ever sense I turned 50. When I went down to see about it, a month after my 50th birthday, I found out from a very nice lady who was working behind the desk that I was 5 years too early. She said that I should come back in 5 years, because the age that you have to be in order to move in, was 55. That was seven years ago, Sense then, I had moved back to Arizona where I grew up. I now have come to the conclusion that living in the State that you grew up in, isn't anywhere near as important as what kind of an apartment that you live in. I have talked face to face with people who were living in the Surf Apartments. All of them had told me very good things about those really great apartments. They had told me that the Surf Apartments are very quiet and serene. That they have a very special warm cozy feeling to them, That, when you enter your apartment and close your front door behind you, that you feel you have left a very noisy world behind you, and you feel like you are entering a wonderful sanctuary of peace and tranquility... I only hope that I am not too late to move back to Crescent City California, and finally move into the apartments that I have wanted to live in for Five Years Now ..The Surf Apartments!
