To the naked eye, the brickwork is in great antique condition, but the restoration company saw some weaknesses in the structure. For two weeks, they toiled away grinding, patching, and sealing up two façades. What's more impressive, during the two weeks temperatures teetered between 95º and 104º, plus the workers were suspended from a rooftop lift (like window washers.) Late one afternoon, I hear a rapping at my window. The contractor wanted to chat. Since I was one of the few tenants home at the time, he asked if I noticed any water damage around the exterior walls. So far, we've been dry through typhoon season, but I pointed out places that may have presented a problem before we moved in. I also asked if they could check out a window that was stuck. "Sure! No problem," the man replied. As noisy as masonry work can be, American Façade does a thorough job and communicated well with both residents and the landlord.
