Love this chain. We've been shopping at Total for as long as their location opened on Long Island NY - about 4 years ago. Vivino is the app I use for the past few years and Total Wine's price is usually comes in about or (mostly) below the App's average price. However, today I encountered a surprise: Sobon Estate 2019 Old Vine Zinfandel $10.99 on Vivino and $16.99 charged by Total. I may be a local type of guy when it comes to most things in my life I shop, but this chain has my admiration. I have never written lower than a 4 stars at the half dozen or so stores I've visited. This was my first time at this Tampa store located four miles from the airport. Right off the plane and practically to Total Wine prior to closing on a weekday evening. I only needed one bottle of wine, but it needed to be a great one and I planned on being picky. However I also had little time. What many customers may not know is the secret behind the staff knowing how to make recommendations. The receive a case of wine and beer a month to try, write notes and then make recommendations to customers. Throughout the store you will see this on shelves with the face of a staff member. This is legit if you ever wondered. I went right to work and asked a staff member to help me with a high end NAPA Cabernet that would be similar to a Caymus, but not priced at $80. The staff discussed options and ultimately called the manager Doug to come over. After around 10 minutes of deciding on three choices I settled on a hard to keep in stock 2013 Baldacci Fraternity. It's a bold red blend with cherry and tobacco flavors. The maker even designed sediment to be in the pour like an old aged wine would be. The bottle was taken to a group dinner in St. Petersburg. I actually had this wine maker before and was excited. The wine proved to be marvelous at the $44 price point and opened beautifully in the glass. This is my go to wine store. It is located off interstate 275 and easy for me to pick up a bottle or two. Especially they have coupon send to me for discounts. The only negative thing is the left turn off Dale Mabry to plaza alway has a line for the car to turn into due to busy plaza. I can said that I am wine person but specific way. I like the Pinot noir particularly. Especially the Russian River Valley (RRV) Pinot Noir is my region. Not all year grape is good but most Year is above average in that region. I always try every Pinot Noir. I like Lost Canyon, La Crema, River Road Stephanie, Deloach - roughly $20 to $40 a bottle. The total wine has this option and many other too. The check out alway easy. This store has a great selection, and my first trip I was really impressed. It seemed like every shelf was fully stocked. I checked my receipt at home (which I should have done in the store), and got charged for a 6 pack of something I only got a single of - a $17 difference. I called the store back and they said I just needed to bring the receipt. When I brought the receipt, the employee at customer service seemed very annoyed with my request. He charged me for the single also, which after driving another 20 minutes back to get the refund seemed a little ridiculous. Overall great selection, not great service. read more

It is one of the largest locations and that means selection. It even has a sampling bar at the entrance to the store. Lots of non alcoholic drinks and snacks to pick from. There are event gift options with bags and cards. The walk in cooler is truly worthy. Lots of kegs and beers ready to go. Not just 6 packs too. Even the local stuff. Speaking of local Tampa has become a hub of craft beer with lots of options. Well this location brings them to you again with lots of selection. Even the displays are done well and the beers are grouped together well. You can tell employees take their time to curated the inventory. Speaking of inventory. They got wine, spirits and cigars. The one place they could improve on is the management and customer service part. They could take a little more initiative or be proactive in helping the cashier's. I literally saw them stand there on the radio and call out for staff help when the issue was just a few feet away from them and took seconds. Anyways that can change and improve. I have been searching for Monin syrup to add to my coffee and upon searching on google Total wine & more came up so I decided to go and see if they have it. Unfortunately they do not have it. I was helped by Barry where he took me to the section where they have the syrups with alcohol and non alcoholic. He is very knowledgeable. This place has definitively the largest selection of Wine and Spirits in the greater Tampa Bay area. The wines take up multiple aisles of this huge warehouse and are sorted by varietal and region. They also have pretty much anything you could want in spirits. Want alcohol that costs more than your house payment? No problem. There are whole individual aisles dedicated to vodka, whiskies, gins, etc. Beer selection is bested only by World of Beer, but is not anywhere NEAR as expensive. You can buy nearly everything here in singles as well as 6/12 packs. Beers are sorted by country with an extensive section for American craft/micro breweries. A few minutes later, she tracked me down and gave me a short education on wine and products that would help with my problem. Did you know that most wine makers use animal by-products in the clarification process? This was not applicable to the headaches but good to know. I have a lot to say about this Total Wine. I kinda think it needs 3 seperate reviews. Review Number 1: 5 Stars for the Total Wine as a whole. It's clean, bright, and well staffed. The parking is ample, and there are multiple curbside pick up spots. I visited at 10pm on a Friday night and you would have thought it was the hottest night club in town. It was very busy. But since the store is so big you don't feel crowded. And multiple registers were open so nobody was waiting in lines to pay. Review Number 2: 5 Stars for the online ordering, in store pick up. While I was frustrated initially that I couldn't order both of my items online for pick up (even though they were both in store, 1 just wasn't available for online pick up?? I still don't really know how this works) I was so pleased with process when I picked up. The gentleman was very busy! He was on the phone, processing orders, looking at inventory, and he still was able to help me all at the same time. AND he laughed at my joke and managed to stay friendly. This is the best Total Wine in store pick up service I have ever experienced. Review Number 3: 5 Stars fro Caruso. This guy knows his stuff. It was the first time in my life that I have ever had such incredible service at a store. When I think about describing the interaction it completely sounds like we were sitting at a bar hanging out with the coolest bartender in town.
