There is a street closure around Meadow on Hanover but only for a few blocks while the crowd started taking over the streets from Robinson. It causes the traffic around the area very congested every year. People start to get impatient and irritated which is not what we want to see in our neighborhood.

Red Vein was a lot of fun, and this was a great first time experience!…read more While I have done a number of the haunts local to the Richmond area, this was my first time at Red Vein. I had heard it was one of the better ones and they certainly delivered. A bit under $25 gets you a bit over an hour's scare-ntertainment, which is a lot per hour but it's a jam-packed hour so it works. When you arrive, there are employees directly traffic to parking, which are unmarked grass spaces. Front workers were nice and a handful of scarers were walking around to psyche folks up for the experience. You end up waiting in a few lines here and there: ticket purchase, front gate, and then a line for each of the four experiences, all tied together with a sort of loose cult/corporate storyline. Each one is a lot of fun and there are plenty of clever layouts and props to keep you guessing about where the next scare will come from. One of the toughest things to do at these places is pace lines, since if folks get squished together the scarers can't reset effectively. Unfortunately we happened to be behind the slowest group known to man and in front of a group of scared teens who could not wait to be done with the whole thing. This took away from the experience a bit but I chock it up to bad luck rather than Red Vein. Ultimately this turned out to be an awesome place to commemorate spooky season and I would absolutely do it again next year! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Great staff, both the front workers and the scare crew. - Fun experience with a lot of variety and creativity. - Great logical flow to the setup to try to pace things better. - Lots of parking. Cons: - Sometimes bad luck in group placement will hinder your experience, and while that happened to us, hopefully it won't to you. - Price isn't terrible but it is a lot for a brief experience. - Making a more permanent parking setup (or at least spraying some lines in the grass) would go a long way to making entrance and exit better.

You could spend all of your time just admiring the architecture in all of the different rooms on multiple levels. But wait; there's more! The exhibits were also fabulous! Because I was volunteering, I didn't really get a chance to hear all about the house or the exhibits, but it's an excuse for me to come back to do so. The staff is super friendly and not at all stuffy, which you might expect given the grandeur of this incredible structure. Do yourself a favor, and take a tour! It has been run by a new Director for the last 18 or so months, so ignore those previous negative reviews.

They get restocked pretty frequently and I saw the employees going through the machines and refilling them time to time. The pricing and the games are pretty fair too. If you exchange $10 for tokens, you will more likely than not walk away with prizes (note the plural!). The claws seem to have pretty good strength consistently if not always. The employees will even occasionally stack the odds in your favor too if they see you're going for something. They've rearranged some of the dolls when something I was trying to get was wedged deep inside other dolls. They seem to be more concerned with making sure you're having a good time rather than making you waste a bunch of tokens. Behind the counter, they also have some prizes you can exchange your dolls for. For example, the last time I went, you could exchange 10 dolls for some Pokemon cards. They also sell a small selection of drinks and ice cream if you just need a quick refreshment. Overall a fun place to kill some time. It's a little small, but you'll still have a good time if you like claw machines.

The space is quite large vertically but not very wide, we went on the weekend and it was quite busy which caused us to bump into people quite a bit. However, despite it being very busy the wait for machines was minimal to non-existent. All of the machines cost around 1-2 tokens with a variety of options of plushies, snacks, key chains and blind boxes as prizes. Once you have captured all the prizes from the machine you can either keep them or exchange them for points to redeem other prizes from their shelves which was a really cool touch. We spent $50 between 2 people and were able to play 27 games which took us a little over an hour between playing and picking our prize. This is a great spot for a date, to hang out with friends or just a fun activity to build those claw machine skills! I will definitely be returning, potentially on a weekday.
