Later on in the appointment, a different doctor who I don't recall the name of entered the room. He was a complete jerk who talked down to me as if I was clinically insane. He drilled the importance of prescribing mind numbing pills to help "calm" my anxiety. I was visiting the office mainly for coughing, shortness of breath, and phlegm. The way he talked down to me caused the most intense anxiety attack I think I've ever had? He also then brought his own moral beliefs into the conversation. By the end of his 5 minute soapbox, I had completely forgot about the reason I was even there. I looked at my mother who was also slightly shaken by the experience and we tried to conclude the office visit as quickly as possible. I feel bad for the nice lady doctor I was there to see. However I completely believe that the condescending jerk of a doctor who talked to me like I was living incorrectly, should find a new occupation. DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE.

He has a catheter and it needs to be looked at by a professional. My father's primary care abruptly retired and canceled his appt this week, which is why I called here. Told them the whole background about recently moving, needing a new urologist, and having trouble getting the old one to give us his records. They said they had a November 1st appt, so I said I'd call back to schedule once I spoke with my father. When I called back they said they talked to Dr Simon and he said he doesn't want to see him. I asked if it was a matter of records and they said no, even if he got the records he doesn't want to see him. I asked why and the office manager told me the doctor doesn't need a reason. Special place in the afterlife for people like this.

The staff and providers are not proactive; I have to follow up through the portal just to be sent for routine bloodwork, and ongoing monitoring isn't done unless I reach out myself, even though I'm on a biologic that requires regular checks every few months. I've been a patient here for over 20 years, but after my recent experience with a stool sample, I'm seriously considering switching providers. I completed a home stool test that was picked up by FedEx and sent to Allied Digestive Health's lab. After waiting nearly two weeks, and making multiple calls and portal messages, I was finally told today that the sample couldn't be processed, which seems like it was lost. No one has acknowledged the time this has cost me or the fact that I'm still not feeling well. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend looking into a more reliable and responsive gastroenterology practice.

However, that is no longer happening. You can now schedule appointments online and the phone wait time is not bad at all. The schedulers are pleasant and very friendly. Yes, it takes awhile to get to see the doctor, but they will also make an exception if you can't wait, or if a test result is deemed important to consult with the doctor. They also have practitioner nurses who can care for lesser problems, prescribe meds, and order tests. Overall, I'm certain that your experience with Atlantic Coast Gastro will be pleasant, thorough and caring.
