Sara is specifically trained in this technique, and it's obvious. She was able to give me exactly what I was looking for - more dimension and a more natural look to my hair. She even updated my bob haircut, to give it a more edgy look. I love that Sara took the time to ask me questions about how I wear and care for my hair, and to help me find different images of the color I wanted. What I really loved is that the night before my appointment, Sara had spent her own personal time looking for images of what she thought I would like, and the picture she showed me nailed it! The do not use current cutting trends and never once used the razor scissors so my bangs are heavy and sit awful so I will be finding someone else to fix them. I also asked that they leave the length and I walked out with 3-4" taken off the length when all I wanted was my layers trimmed up and the shortest layer to hit my jaw line. Which is exactly what I told her. She didn't get it there so I said it needed to come up and then she proceeded to cut and took off the length on all my layers. They take cash only which was also annoying. They only got 2 stars because she was nice but I'd rather a rude stylist that cuts well then what I ended up with. I've never had a haircut this bad.

I exclusively get my hair cut in Buffalo at Tonic Hair Salon, but I was in need of a bang trim and decided I would trust a professional, instead of doing it myself. Big mistake. Once I arrived, there was no friendly greeting, just a sign in, and my hair stylist whom I was not sure if she worked the desk or was my hair stylist told me to follow her. So, I guess she was my stylist. She never introduced herself, or asked me anything about myself. She seemed very young and inexperienced. I showed her a reference photo of how I wanted my bangs (asymmetrical) and she said she understood. If she hadn't, I would have gotten something else. She didn't ask me which way I wanted my bangs or how I part my hair so when she started working from the wrong side, I had to correct her. Not a big deal, but you should ask if you want sides-wept or asymetrical. I have cowlicks and I doubt she even noticed, which is something you need to take into consideration. She started cutting and did it all wrong because she assumed I wanted what she had (looked nothing like the picture). I even showed her multiple pictures of the same model so she could see the bang cut and styled in different ways from different angles. She called over another stylist. At this time, the other stylist wanted her razor and still did not do what I wanted. She actually started to pull other sections from my hair to cut them without consulting me. I had to say to her "You're not planning on cutting that, right?" and she said it should be part of my bangs. I told her not to. I didn't want my hair to be even more messed up and I trust my old stylist enough to know that those very long pieces (I have long hair) should not be part of my bangs. She finished the cut, walked away and the first stylist straightened them and asked me if they were ok. Honestly, they weren't. When I looked at them in my car I saw they were super choppy in a not intentional way. She cut off too much in one section. And she did no layering or point cutting to soften it or make them fuller. It was honestly just like my dad did when I was a child and he is by no means a stylist. I ended up stopping at Wal-Mart and picked up some sheers so I could fix it. It's still not perfect, but it's better than it was. I have learned to just wait to go to my trusted stylist. Also, in terms of atmosphere, the place was nearly dead on a Saturday mid-day. There were only two stylists working. There was a fly that kept trying to land on the coffee that I brought and I kept shooing it away. Not once did either of the stylists apologize about the bug or try to get it away from my coffee. I know I have high standards, but I think everyone should hold themselves to high standards. In an area like this, with very little competition some businesses don't try and do not keep up with industry trends. If you can't even do a bang trim, you shouldn't be a stylist.

First they advertise all of these amenities, but when I asked for a masseuse she wasn't there and apparently you have to book two weeks out. WTF? Then I worked out on some exercise machines. It was a push day and there just weren't enough machines to do those sets. Now if they had free weights they were hidden because 8 never saw them. I like to finish up with some cardio. Now these they had plenty of. So I chose a bike and set to spinning. And they have an app to listen to TV on your phone. Wow that's great. Set up my headphones and started laughing and working out to Modern Family. Until the sound didn't sync up to the show. It was like watching a Chinese Martial Arts movie dubbed over in English. Remember those on Saturday afternoons? So that sucked. And then the bike shut down so there went any stats that was being recorded. Ok so that was enough. Decided I'd go get a manicure since I saw her there when I walked in. Oh no she left 10 minutes ago. How about we post the hours so your customers know And to tip it off no towels and no lockers either? Where do your regulars change! So hopefully I never have to go back to Potsdam again. If so I'll go find a big rock to work out with. This place was not worth it.

I have a full year membership, so by default I'm a fan, though I am having doubts about renewal…read more It's a fairly small gym, with weight machines, cardio machines, a weight room and a class room. I can never make the classes because it's straight after work or early in the morning. If you need tv while cardio-ing, then you need to bring a radio that tunes into the tv frequencies, I don't really care for it so it doesn't bother me. I don't do the tanning & salon, but they have that too. In fact, most of the cars in the parking lot are tanners, the gym area is usually empty. The weight room can get crowded, but it's not bad. The gym doesn't smell bad, and if it does you can prop open one of the doors. The worst is when somebody axe effects the entire locker room and then it's just plain nasty. I don't shower in the gym because the water smells kinda funks, but they do have hand sanitizers all over the place. One thing that annoys me is the limited weekend hours, especially on Sunday, when it closes at 3pm.
