After some discussion, one member of the staff went in search of a scrap plank or two, while his colleague provided us the name and number for a contractor who does hardwood repairs. The scrap search was successful, but the better news is that they would not take payment for the 4 or 5 feet of boards. For this reason, we will visit Moore Floors first when we need any more flooring needs. They are beyond nice and helpful and turned our difficult situation into a great experience.

I am also having to hire a handyman (thus, pay extra) to put address flaws that I believe could and should have been done by. There's a major gap in between the backsplash and the wall which Set in Stone claims is because my wall is curved (photo below). And while I don't doubt my wall has a curve, they didn't tell me this huge gap could be a possibility if I used a stone backsplash; I could have used tile, which they also sell. Plus, the handyman is going to remove the backsplash and shave some of the stone to fit the wall's curve better, something Set in Stone could and should have done. Shop around before going with these folks. I do love the counter surface material I got from them, however.

I can't even get a floor walker at Lowes to find the correct nut&bolt from all the drawers, or do more than read a lable on something in front of me.
