For some reason Yelp didn't post my review, so let's try again. Total is my go-to shop for everything car electronics related. Are other places cheaper? Yes. Better? Not a chance. The owner Jeff has been in the business about 30 years. He does all the work on your car, and stands behind it. There are no fluky employees running around with their pants falling down and their mouths stapled shut by piercings who are there today and gone tomorrow. Only a really nice guy and his shop. He is super knowledgable about car stereos and alarms and will steer you right to what you need. No hard upsell, no pressure. He knows that leaving a few bucks on the table now will result in a lifetime customer. And there are many like me who have followed him through three locations over 30 years. I must pass twenty places on my drive to Total, and could save a few dollars, but after having some horrible (car ruining) experiences at other shops, TAP is my place from now on. He also installed aftermarket fog lamps and driving lights installed on my Mazda 3. Was recommended to Jeff by another high end auto specialist. He installed a rear view camera in my '07 Mercedes CL550. Nice, honest guy, clean shop, perfect work, didn't leave me a mess to clean up, and did the job quickly. The camera works through my existing COMMAND system screen in the car, turns on automatically in reverse just like the factory installed unit would, and you can barely see the installed camera under the trunk lid in the back. I've had a number of things done at Total Auto Protection. They installed my iPod adapter, they installed a dock and they installed a throttle controller. They did a very good job and were reasonably priced. I recommend this place. 1) The shop's owner, Jeff Anson, is always there and participates in or does the work on your car. This is a very good sign because he recognizes that reputation is very important in this business. Jeff worked with great care and diligence. His apprentice was more hurried, but Jeff made sure the he did good work. 2) It is an open shop - you can watch them work on your car. I much prefer this to places like JR Electronics who take the car in the back and don't let you see. It is key to be present so you know the work is done right. The fact that Jeff welcomes this indicates his confidence in their work. 3) Very reasonable pricing and fairness. They installed my iPod video adapter for $85 which was 40% of the price the Lexus dealer was asking. Also Jeff when my throttle controller couldn't be done because the factory he just charged me for the work done and not the full price we agreed. 4) He also installed my radar detector and Antilaser Priority ALP system. He does amazing work and he knows this kind of technology really well - he placed the sensors perfectly and he did some testing so he was able to show me that it works in the real world. 5) No job is too small - you can come in here for quick installs, not just 1 hour jobs. Thanks Jeff for helping us out while in Miami. We were on the job and misplaced the clicker for the alarm system. It was a real problem and needed to get a replacement made asap as were were on a deadline to get onto the next job. I have a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT that I've owned since it was brand new and have maintained it in excellent condition. I decided to bring it's Audio system into the latest technology to incorporate my wife's iPhone and my Moto X Android phone with it. I hired a private Car Audio specialist individual, who was highly recommended, to assess what could be installed. I wanted the best equipment at a fair price. He recommended and I purchased a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX (Flagship radio in 2015) and related Pioneer speakers, Polk amplifier, Pioneer sub-woofer, Back-Up camera, and Sirius XM radio module. My GM automobile has a 1.5 din factory radio but the Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX radio is 2 din, so custom dashboard cutting and configuring would have to be done to fit this radio. I went online and read many reviews of Radio installation shops in the Miami, Florida area. Total Auto Protection was at the top of the list with just about everyone giving them a 5-Star rating. I called them and spoke with the owner/operator Jeff Anson and he told me that he would have the necessary "Installation Kit" the very next day and gave me an appointment to come in at 9:00 am and they would start immediately. At 9:00 am the next morning I was there and so was he. With the appointment, there was no line, no waiting.... THAT in itself was awesome. There was lot's of work to be done so it was an all day affair. At 5:00 pm Jeff called me to start heading his way because they would be done within 30 minutes or so. I was not disappointed!! The equipment and installation was everything I had hoped for and the sound is exceptional. The custom radio install looks like it's from the factory. Jeff spent the next hour teaching me all the specifics of this radio and it's multitude of features. You can't help but like this man because he delivers what he promises. The price for all the work he did and the "little extras" he added, like the special wires and the enlarging of the factory area to adapt it for the bigger size sub-woofer was almost unbelievably INEXPENSIVE. Jeff provided absolutely first rate, 5 star service in quickly and inexpensively finding and resovling problems in my high end auto stereo ($1,500+) caused by a poor "professional" install at Digital Sound and Wheels (DSW). Among other things, DSW had incorrectly wired my amp so that it provided only 2 channel output without the ability to fade sound front and back. The DSW RCAs and wiring were also cheap, replaced by first rate ones by Jeff that really improved my sound. I could not be happier. In addition to what I believe is the best auto stereo service in Miami, and in addition to great pricing and fast service, Jeff is very friendly. Jeff installed a backup camera and an alarm system in my mom's new 2016 Toyota Prius c he did a great job. The installation was done in a timely manner. He was able to integrate the backup camera with the already installed navigation system screen. The alarm works with the push start remote, without the need for an additional remote.
