THE BEST BEACH IN THE WORLD…read more -Beautiful, crystal clear water -Not overly crowded, very few tourists -Water temperature is amazingly warm -Beach remains shallow for at least 50 yards into the sea (never seen anything like it) -Small full-service bar right on the beach -Oh yeah, and topless women What more could you want? I love coming here and interacting with gays from around the world. The gay village with bars, restaurants and shops is packed to the rafters in summer and during events. There is a gay beach in the center of town and clothing optional Platja dels Balmins with its crowded gay section 10 minutes walk from the church. A secluded gay nude beach, Playa del Muerto, is a good hike. Restaurants serve spectacular fresh seafood, and paella is king. Sitges is relaxing and definitely worth the 35 minute train ride (less than €6 one way) from Barcelona.

While we had been looking at flying into Barcelona, the prices and busyness of the town turned us off. Enter Sitges. The quiet simplicity of this beach town simply cannot be beat. The residents are kind, the festivals are fun (Pride Sitges was going on while we were here), and the food is so, so delicious. For a town not too far from Barcelona, the prices were so much more reasonable! And let's not forget the crowning achievement of Sitges: their beaches. Simply stunning. Make this small Spanish town a stop on your next trip to Spain.

It's definitely not a cheap experience but you'll find that with any hot air balloon ride. We were picked up in Barcelona at the right time and place, and taken out to a hotel/cafe about 45+ min away. We had a quick coffee and met up with the other couple that would be up in the air with us. We got back in the van and drove about 5 minutes to the site. Our balloon was there but the guys were worried about the wind so they did a test and we ended up having to change locations to a second area near a small town about 20 or so minutes away. Then the fun of filling up the balloon begins! It's a very interesting experience. The whole time in the balloon is maybe an hour but I suppose that's all you really need. It's very peaceful and serene. I was kind of hoping that we would see something a little bit more interesting. Once we were done, we had some sandwiches and cava and were taken back into the city. It was a very long morning but overall a very enjoyable experience. Our guides were fun and taught us a lot about ballooning and the fun people they've met/experiences they've had. Very important note - if you have a smaller bladder, there is NOWHERE to go after the cafe.
