As you can see from my "Request Item" board pic, they are open to getting what their customers want. What I really liked was their Amish Fry Pie, see all my pics. These are locally made and taste every bit of it. They are fully filled and had all the real flavors that machines can't make. The crust was light and flaky. These are made by the local Amish and the store sells 100s a week - I can see why. We took home 5 different flavors, enjoying every one of them. While Lorimor, IA has less than 500 citizens and may not be a destination for most, if you are passing through its worth a stop for their Amish Fry Pies!

Slim's is a pretty typical roadside fruit and vegetable market. More than a stand, less than a store. What you find, of course, depends on the time of year. This stop we enjoyed some Iowa grown tomatoes and Iowa baked Kringla. They also round out their offerings with some less than local produce, such as Georgia peaches. They also have a variety of, mostly local, jams and the like. It's not necessarily the cheapest place to shop, but quality is consistently good. It's located west of downtown Story City at the intersection with Highway 69. It's a two minute drive. Tasted good, but for the "Raging Bull" chest bump they were probably giving each other on that one, they sure didn't come through with the heat.
