I cannot gush enough about Dr. Tina and Toronto Mobile Veterinary Services and their exceptional service. She went above and beyond to help move my cat to Japan, including significant off-the-clock research and follow-ups. In my opinion, her services are worth all the time and dime. Caveat, as some commenters have harped on this: her services are not cheap. But, and I'll stress it again here, her services are exceptional. My family is moving to Japan with our beloved cat, and this is a fairly involved process of vaccination and documentation. We booked a number of consults, three home visits, and asked her and her team to fill out documentation for the Canadian and Japanese governments. She handled this all so well, taking excellent care to not only give vaccinations, but also to rush ship blood samples to the US, where the rabies testing lab is located. She also came into our home with full PPE every time, ensuring our safety, which is a big factor for us. She followed up on challenging export rules and even did a final check before departure. Oh yeah, and she is amazing with animals. Our cat can be wary of strangers and medical procedures, and Dr. Tina put her at ease and left a good feeling in everyone's heart. The result? (For some bizarre reason the facebook login says that we live in San Francisco (might be nice) but we in fact live in Toronto's Upper Beach, as a visit to my facebook page will confirm). Anyway on to my review... There is a ridiculous disparity between Dr. Tina Chou the Vet (good) and Toronto Mobile Veterinary Services the business (atrocious). Dr. Chou is a caring Vet who treated our cat well BUT she and/or TMVS have been abysmal at follow-up re information required by our insurer Trupanion. Efforts by the insurer to reach out to Dr. Chou went unanswered for a month. In order to not to lose the $575 claim, I became involved and was told that it will cost me $10 to speak to Dr. Chou, $90 for medical records and so on. I understand that Dr. Chou's time is valuable and that a price should be put on it - but $90 for my own cat's medical records seems high to me, as all notes could have been provided when Dr. Chou's visit was complete. I was only in need of a note confirming that Dr. Chou had never before seen our cat (Trupanion wants to eliminate pre-existing conditions). Even getting something that simple seems to be impossible for Dr. Chou's back-office operation, which consists of a third-party phone service, which itself is only a return-of-call operation rather than a real-time customer service function. To update on my note above, my rating for Toronto Mobile Veterinary Services has dropped still further. "Dmitri" called to confirm that it will cost me $90 simply for Dr. Chou to indicate by email that she had not previously seen our cat before her one visit. I need that confirmation in order to have my insurer pay out my $575 claim. STAY AWAY!! P.S. I do not take issue with the cost of Dr. Chou's actual veterinary services as others do in reviews below. It seems fair to me that house calls would be more expensive. Nor do I think it unreasonable to pay Dr. Chou some small amount for sending an email confirming that she had not previously seen or treated "Teddy" but $90 FFS? read more

dr. Tina chou sounds very kind, but I second a previous commenter that the pricing structure doesn't feel transparent and should be clear and visible so the 10 minute call can be focused on the pet and not covid protocols. The 10 minute call folks is $45 not $10. Another cat in my household infected this cat. i know that the solution after a long journey with my other cat was doxycycline and famciclovir. i just don't have access to those at the moment and newly sick cat in bad shape. His mouth/gums all swollen despite having no dental disease prior to viral infection. i myself am going through a major health issue and would have loved this service even if paying more on a fully transparent visit fee. It's the other charges that are feeling mysterious and don't add up at least in my understanding so there must be another covid fee? She said she follows standard vet pricing, and yet how can that her when I just paid for the same thing with another cat. Other cat: Office treatment is $80 + $100 + $300 for a month of famciclovir. Going the antibiotic route alone is pointless. i did that for two months with my other cat. Antivirals are the way to go. I wanted to ask her if she has them on hand as I think I asked in the note initially, but there was no time. The quote was $1300 + $44 for the ten minutes. I walked away feeling confused like it's $120 booking + $80 vet fee + 1100 for antibiotics? she did not mention antivirals or IV for dehydration. it went by so fast. i just wanted clarity on that because I need to have money to solve the issue the way my vet knows this week if this turns out to have no solution. If I spend it all on a $700+ covid fee I want to know. I wanted clarity. Does she double the prices of every other cost plus the visit fees? i want to recommend that Dr.Choi have a clear list online with prices of her services to free up the call for important stuff. Also, if she changed her 10 minute appointment time to $45 I think that should be in the site. i feel that ten minutes should be focused totally in the pet with space to ask questions. We all know about covid. The ten minutes is more a "how to prep for her arrival info". Some acknowledgement of the pet, but not enough to feel like I know what I'm walking into. i saw other reviewers talk about a 90$ fee just to get medical records and That was not disclosed to me, but I wouldn't be surprised. i have a feeling 10% of this appointment would be submittable to the insurance. Insurance companies pay standard prices for medications, or surcharges. She asked me to check with the insurers, but like me the insurer would need to know what the fees are for or have some kind of quote on a document, that I don't have. Just confusion. Unfortunately the ten minutes allotted is not enough time to get to that part. I was told I'd get an email with a quote by either her or the booking company, but have received nothing. i received a receipt for my ten minutes with the doctor. Maybe I just got confused thinking she said she'd send an estimate. I can tell she's a nice caring vet, so I'm leaving this feedback for you Dr,Chou so you can help improve your system in a productive was with great transparency. otherwise you're mainly good for people where money is of mo issue. I see your youtube channel, why not make a video about covid protocol to free up some of the 10 minute call for questions. i only gave it two so it would be read. its not a rating of your service or care, only your process as i didn't use the service. I don't want to spend another $45 to ask you to email me the estimate. I don't like surprises. I am not upset or putting your service down. It's a life saver for many. Dr. Tina and her team are the most professional, well organized, prepared and compassionate vets, I have ever encountered. Dr. Tina has the utmost care and attention for her patients and their parents. When I had to say goodbye to my 15 year old lab, Dr. Tina was there for me and my pup every single step of the way. Even under COVID restrictions, I felt 100% supported the entire way. I am SO thankful to her and her team for their love, compassion and care, during this unthinkable time in my life. The after care, was the same level of care, love and attention to detail. Though my pup was at the end of her life, Dr. Tina treated us as if we had been her patient forever. tldr: Services may be great, but I was quoted a price 7-8 times what my in-office vet charges for a exam and antibiotics. If you can afford this type of multiplier on vet costs, this might be a great service for you, but I suspect these costs are inaccessible to many. I had a phone consultation with Toronto mobile vet for a cat with a swollen eye that hates going to the vet's office. He has already been diagnosed with a recurrent eye issue and has an appointment with a specialist in several weeks, so we were just seeking a check up and some medication to mitigate his symptoms in the meantime. I only used the phone consultation service, so I can't speak to their in-person veterinary care--it may be totally wonderful. The doctor I spoke with on the phone seemed knowledgeable and caring. My low rating is because I feel that their cost structure is poorly represented on their website. The list a $120 emergency booking fee and an $80 vet service fee, which sounds like a base exam cost of $200, which is quite reasonable to me given the service on offer (my in-office vet runs $90 for an exam, and I would pay up to 3x that much as a base cost to avoid the stress of packing up this very resistant cat). I expected to be quoted a base cost of $200, plus more for each diagnostic test or prescription (and I'm aware these can add up fast!). However, I was quoted $950-1100 for a visit and a prescription of antibiotics, with costs increasing by hundreds of dollars for any further medications. This cost did not include any diagnostics such as an eye stain, which is what the in-office vet typically does (for $42). I doubt that the antibiotics cost $750-900, so there must be other basic exam fees beyond the $200 (maybe covid-specific costs) that are not listed on their website; this could be much more transparent. By the time they quoted me this price range, we were at the end of our 10 minute phone consultation ($10) so I did not have time to ask for further cost breakdown, what the exam involved, etc. (most of the call was them explaining their covid safety procedures). If the minimum appointment cost is actually much higher than $200, that should be represented on the website so people can go in with the correct expectations or know right away that these services are out of their price range so they don't delay seeking care elsewhere while they wait for a scheduled phone consultation, then wait again for a visit. While I definitely expect to pay more for a home visit (especially during covid!), I think a more transparent price structure should be advertised, otherwise you have to pay $10 and be available during a 3 hour window to learn about these very high costs. I looked at my last in-office vet receipt and an exam plus antibiotics cost $138.79. So, their quoted prices were 6.8-7.9 times higher than an in-office vet. This could be feasible for some (I anticipated paying 3-4x more than an in-office vet), but perhaps before paying for and waiting for a phone consultation, prospective clients should consider whether costs like these are within their budget. I feel a bit bad giving a review without using their main service, but I was a paying customer for the phone consultation, and I hope this review helps others decide whether to pursue this service if their pet is in need (I delayed booking anywhere else while waiting for the phone consultation). A clearer base cost on their website would be much more transparent and consumer-friendly. They may be wonderful vets once you book with them, and perhaps their prices are more accessible outside of covid times (I wanted to ask this, but they end the phone call at exactly 10 minutes, and used the last 30 seconds explaining how their next scheduled phone call was to an elderly couple with a sick cat). Another apparent difference between them and my in-office vet--I think the mobile vet uses a third party to manage all incoming communication. So while I can give my in-office vet a call or email and get quick advice from a technician any time for no additional cost, I think you would need to schedule and pay for a phone consultation if you had questions about anything other than scheduling read more

I moved to Richmond Hill a few years ago and I was looking for a new vet for my two cats. They get really stressed with traveling in the car and at the vet clinic, so I thought I'd give this mobile vet a try. I could not be happier with my experience. Booking online was easy, and the vet was so kind and helpful with both my cats. I especially liked how the vet was so very thorough and really took the time to explain everything in regards to their care, as well as following up with me on the phone a few days later to make sure everything is going smoothly. Dr. Tina is simply amazing. I had her come to treat my cat two years ago after she was too difficult to handle at my previous vet's office. Dr. Tina helped my cat get through many health issues and helped with palliative care at end of life. Her approach of less is more helped to lessen the stress on my cat, and she provided medication that was easy to administer (other than pills). After my cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis and began palliative care, Dr. Tina guided me through this and provided clear direction. She also came quickly at end of life and was so compassionate and caring. In terms of pricing structure, Dr. Tina was always clear about cost and I understood that a vet visiting the home is more expensive - her phone consults were very affordable and these helped immensely during palliative care. I can't be more grateful for the service I received from Dr. Tina Chou; she made the right questions to get the diagnosis of my cat Dante and prescribed medicines that not only provided quick symptoms relief but were easy for him to ingest. This demonstrated to me she knew how to deal with cats, something that I appreciate a lot since my experience is that most vets are more used and comfortable treating dogs. During our call, she seemed to be genuinely interested in Dante's health and offered comfort words for me, which helped me to calm down during the emergency. I attempted to cancel an appointment made thru Mobile Vet's booking service (which was responded to with 'we do not receive emails'), and so then I called as well by telephone. This is After my cat vomited bile a short period after Booking the next available appt. Waiting two days for a vet was no longer an option. Previous she seemed to have stomach pain but it did not seem serious. So, I immediately left a voicemail when I knew I would need to take my pet to a local emergency vet. I was charged a month later, regardless of having made efforts to cancel by emails and also voicemail as it seemed unnecessary to receive any follow up call as I would NOT be needing any services. Upon requesting this to be refunded, I was told a month later, to book by email via a booking service call, which again I would be charged a fee for and that I could not book simply to speak with the vet by phone to discuss the matter. I received a phone call from the mobile vet, however was promptly refused a refund despite proof of cancellation and was told by the Vet they had not received from their booking service my cancellation which I would expect would be recorded or if is so disorganized, the vet contacted by them to relay her a message..?? I do not understand the refusal for the refund for services NOT rendered or that I should pay for service when they in fact did not follow up on my voicemail or emails..? Despite efforts I made to be considerate of their time however it is apparently more of importance to them to keep my money. I am GREATLY disappointed with the customer service of this company. I would absolutely never book with them. There is no integrity in their business practises. If they don't care about the customer I would suggest they don't care about your animal either. Don't waste your money or your time. This vet deserves a 0 rating for customer service and abysmally lacking user friendly online booking and telephone services. read more

Since 2015 when I met for first time Dr. Tina Chou, Toronto Mobile Vets is the best solution on taking care of my lovely Dolce. After One Stormy Winter night in December, my beautiful Coton de Tulear (cotton dog) only 8 months old and with me for only 3 weeks, Dolce became very ill with a ball formed calcium deposit in his intestine which could have taken his life. Thanks to Toronto Mobile Vets and Dr Tina Chou who assessed the seriousness of the problem and that night performed surgery and remained with him through the night. Had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Tina awhile ago. Although it was due to unfortunate circumstances (my beloved cat was very sick) Dr. Tina and her team were able to help me through the entire process, from booking with the very understanding & helpful young man that does the bookings- to the extra time and care Dr. Tina and her vet assistant took to allow us to say goodbye to our dying pet- and finally going the extra mile to take some fur clippings and paw prints even though I couldn't decide whether I wanted them or not(thankful I have them now). Taking my cat to the vet has always been a nightmare so I opted to try a home visit vet. I did have my doubts about doing it this way as my cat has several conditions that call for a vet that knows his stuff, and I wasn't sure what I was going to get. However, this turned out to be a wonderful and stress-free experience as my cat didn't even fully realize she was being examined/treated, which is NOT the case at the vet clinic. The vet was also extremely medically proficient as she went through all the medical history and prescriptions I have for Pixie without missing a beat. The treatment course she prescribed is working really well and the whole experience has made me a convert to doing home vet visits. Word to the wise - it is somewhat more expensive than the clinic. It makes sense considering that the vet comes to your home, but just so you know. Having said that, it was still very much worth it for me, considering that I won't have to stress Pixie out the next time I need a vet. read more

I called TO Mobile Vet to put down my diabetic cat. When I made the appointment, I was quoted $150 for the service. When Dr. Tina Chou came to my apartment to perform the service, she said it would cost me $1,141. I was given no indication prior to the appointment that the service would cost me this much. Dr. Tina Chou asked me if I had inquired about the cost beforehand. Why would I go further with this when I was sent an invoice for an amount of $150, with no indication that the service would cost more than this? She then asked me if I specified that this was an end of life service. I said that I had, and had even received an email from her, prior to the appointment, telling me how sorry she was that I had come to this decision. Beware of this place. They completely mismanaged this process. Doesn't get any better! Tina got down on the floor with my elderly sad pooch and kissed her and caressed her as if she was her own beloved pet. Patient, professional and informative is how I would describe her team. After my experience with this service I have no reason to take my girl to the vet and cause her any undue stress. Being a very busy business owner and having a newly senior dog that would become anxious in car rides, I sought out a mobile vet service online a few years ago and came across the Toronto Mobile Veterinary Services website. After inviting Dr. Tina and her team to do at-home blood testing and vaccines on my 3 dogs, I knew I had found our family vet!! I had booked over the phone for my cat to be looked at for an eye issue. When booking they give you a 3 hour time slot to be available. I was racing home thru traffic to get to my 3 on appointment. I had been calling the vet number but went to voicemail and I couldn't leave a message because the voicemail was full. All I wanted to do is say I was almost to my residence and apologies. I was at my door at 3:12 and the vet had already been there and left a note that they were there. There is no direct number to the vet in case of situations like mine. How do you have a mobile service and are not able to contact the doctor by a mobile phone. And forget about emails. Their email address is not set up for replies. I thought they may contact me for a later time with in the 3 hour window that THEY gave me. But nope. I finally got to talk to someone around 8pm that night. And was told if I wanted to reschedule I would have to pay another $70 booking fee and they would not refund my original $70. I was 12 minutes late! And tried to reach someone desperately. Even restaurants hold your reservation for 15 minutes. So I don't know how good they are with animals but their human skills and customer service is the worst. I would stay clear as they are more concerned about keeping your money than treating your animal. read more

This vet was great! First of all, my cat gets so stressed in the car on the way to the vet that he throws up in the carrier, every time. It broke my heart to see him suffering like that for his necessary vet check-ups. I gave this home visit vet service a shot specifically to avoid that, and was very happy that I did. Dr. Tina was super gentle with my cat, and he was not at all stressed out during the appointment, which was something I never expected based on my previous vet clinic experiences. Dr. Tina and her assistant Kai came to my condo to care for my cat. I knew that taking my cat to a vet clinic would be so incredibly stressful for him as he's incredibly timid and frightens easily. Dr. Tina was very patient, very caring, and understood his stress. She was able to give me all necessary medications on the spot, and followed up a few days later with a phone call to see if everything was progressing properly. She also explained exactly what each test was for and made sure I was comfortable with how to administer the medications. Very helpful and I am happy to recommend this service. read more
