I didn't have high expectations for a small hotel restaurant on the main drag of a tourist town, but the Croft pleasantly surprised me by holding its own. The inside is clean and fairly modern, and as it is a sit-down restaurant there was table service. Our order was taken quickly and food arrived promptly. I had the fish & chips, a solid British pub standby, and was served a generous portion of breaded crispy fish alongside a bucket of thick, piping hot chips. My friend ordered the burger and raved about its freshly baked bun. Local ale and cider was on the menu and I tried a bottle of Cotswolds Gold, which was a nice, mellow beer. We had a very pleasant, unhurried lunch of tasty food and hyper-local drink, right in the heart of Bourton. The Croft may be in prime tourist territory, but it's not resting on its laurels.

The scotch eggs, which have undergone somewhat of a rebirth recently, we're absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly!!!! My pie was good but not great, served with fat chips (fries), peas & carrots, the crust was slightly overdone and on the dry side, although the tasty gravy helped with that. A few great local beers and some valuable time spent with friends and family made this, and most experiences at Copa, 5 Stars!!

There's two floors to it and most of the seating is covered. The service by workers were all friendly and nice. We ordered with them then paid at the bar. We shared Duck and Orange Pate. It was thick, tasty, and complex but well balanced. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--the mixed leaves were tasty, the chicken crispy, and honestly it was a filling sandwich. I would say I'd like more in between the bread but it did fill me up. You've got plenty of pub options in Burford, but we quite enjoyed our time at The Angel. But I have to say there is no question that when I got there And it was lunchtime that I selected the angel at Burford to eat the fine food that they serve there.
