I explained that by tomorrow she would have received additional doses of her medication and would likely be well enough to return to school. Despite this, I was told that the only way to obtain an updated note with an additional excused day was to bring her back into the office for another appointment.When I explained that I could not bring her in that day and that she would likely return to school the following day if she improved, I was still told no. It seemed unreasonable that the only option being offered was for her to miss yet another day of school just to be re-evaluated for an illness that had already been diagnosed only days earlier.As new patients, this experience was especially disappointing. We were already saddened by having to find a new pediatrician after our previous doctor moved out of state. What upset me most was the lack of compassion, understanding, and professionalism demonstrated by the office staff. My daughter struggles with anxiety, takes medication for it, and becomes very concerned about missing school. She is an excellent student, earning all A's, including in AP classes, and this situation caused her unnecessary stress.I requested a call from Dr. Mehra because both the staff member I spoke with and the office manager, Viviana, were dismissive and rude during our conversation.While I continue to recommend Dr. Mehra and appreciate the care he provides, I sincerely hope the office addresses its customer service and communication practices. The level of professionalism we experienced from the staff did not reflect the quality of care we received from the physician. Unfortunately, even when a doctor is excellent, having to deal with unprofessional and rude staff can make the overall experience stressful and discouraging. We were originally scheduled at the Celebration location, but our appointment was canceled with less than an hour's notice, forcing us to return home to Davenport by Uber and then arrange transportation to the St. Cloud location. After traveling between Nemours locations for approximately an hour with a sick infant, we arrived about 15 minutes late. Despite explaining the circumstances and my baby's symptoms, we were denied care without any apparent attempt to assess his condition or offer an alternative solution. I was told that the doctors were about to close for lunch at noon and therefore would not see him. Refusing to evaluate a symptomatic infant who had low blood pressure and vomiting after the family was already inconvenienced by a last-minute cancellation raises serious concerns about patient safety, continuity of care, and whether appropriate accommodations were made for a medically vulnerable child. I hope Nemours reviews this incident thoroughly and examines its policies regarding sick pediatric patients who experience delays caused, at least in part, by scheduling changes within its own system.

Now that the office is busier, I often can not get the kids in when they are sick -just sent to urgent care or Er ( I wasnt trying to pay high deductible and co insurance for these places). If we arebt sent to urgent/er for non emergency issues, then the wait for an appointment is usually 3 days or more. Routine physicals are at least a month wait ( make appointment in advance and keep it)! Receptionist needs more training on triage.
