We shared their signature plate, the pork knuckle and it was delicious! I'm glad we shared it though cause it was a ton of food. The meat was tender and the skin was extra crispy. It's served with a delicious mustard sauce that goes well with the pork. It sits on a bed of mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies (cabbage, green beans and carrots). The beer selection is massive so it's also great for beer lovers. I would highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike!

I actually wanted something 'lighter' but I asked for his recommendation, and of course he said the signature item that they are "famous" for. I also paired it with some whale, because I like eating protected and endangered species. The whale was the best part. Tastes like those cute little puffins, vaguely like a tender beef jerky. As for the caveman chunk of pork on a bone. Woof. I mean, it's good. The crackling is like pork rinds on steroids and the meat really did fall off the bone. The mustard sauce and the mashed potatoes were loaded with fat. However, the staff friendly and attentive. I love my meats, but this did not blow my mind. Would not go out of my way to come here, and I think the overall ratings are a bit generous.

I was worried that it was a reservations-only kind of place as Jessheim is a small town, but we were greeted and ushered-in in no time. The server seated us with a smile and came with water and provided us with English menus. I usually prefer the local menu (translation is easy with Google!) but we had just arrived at the airport and the English menu looked adequately comprehensive. A bit of a debate, but we ended up with 2 dishes to share between 2 very jet-lagged diners. The Monk Fish was fabulous but small. A small fillet of monk fish was on a bed of an unctuous, umami sauce of something I couldn't adequately identify. May be crab and lobster? Garnished with chunks of zucchini and mushrooms and a small sprinkling of little shrimp. A wedge of juicy lemon and a scoop of rice. I first tried a bite of the fish naked, and it tasted just-caught fresh and perfectly cooked. The source and a little lemon elevated it to perfection. Encountering a new restaurant, I will go for the fish as one of my 'acid tests' and the chef at Mirabel sailed through with flying colors! Even the rice was perfection. Not the way Chinese rice would have been cooked, but the perfect texture to soak in the source and combine as an accompaniment to all the elements of the dish. The second dish we shared was the Bianchi Quattro Formaggii pizza. It looked perfect when it arrived, and I would say was the best pizza I've eaten in the past year (and I've eaten a lot of pizza!) The cheeses were perfectly² blended and a drizzle of honey over the top before serving turned it into perfection. The salty, pungent cheese complemented by the sweet tang of honey. With pizza, the crust matters, and there was barely enough crust left to mop up all the remnants of the monk fish sauce. What a perfect first meal in Norway!!

You also get to cook cheese and meat at your table. It's communal seating all at one large table, so be ready to meet your neighbors and chat. Everything was delicious and incredibly well done. You can also stay and/or camp there - we did in an RV. The views from the hall are fantastic as well. We also bought cheese and sausages.

There are two parts of this restaurant, the fancy dinner option (you must make reservations for this portion) and the cafe which is self service. My boyfriend and I did not know you needed reservations for the dine in option so we sat ourselves in the very welcoming cafe dining room. The menu for both are the same so no worries if you can't get a reservation. The self serve option can seem confusing initially but they have a lot of grab and go but you can also order hot meals by ringing a bell for the chef. Check out is right before you leave the self service area which makes it really easy. I felt the prices were really fair too. For food I got the meatballs and split pea stew. My boyfriend got reindeer with cream sauce and mashed potatoes. I absolutely loved my meatballs, they were sweet and savory, I did not really like the split pea stew though. My boyfriend loved his entire meal and cleared his plate. We also shared their most popular dessert which is the apple pie. It was really good, not too sweet which was perfect for us. Definitely come to this restaurant when visiting Oslo!
