Ok .... So my last two visits have been very good. The previous reviews I was very disappointed. Since have several positive experiences recently. I thought it only fair to update my reviews. My last two or three orders were on point! The Jumbo BBQ has been loaded with meat like it used to be. The fries were crisp and fresh. The most recent burger was also very good. Im so glad they have gotten better. I have always loved Tops and I didnt want to leave negative reviews. The young lady that is always at the register is very nice. She remembers me everytime I come in and does a great job! The inside is always clean and the trash cans emptied. The condiments are always full and clean. These days thats rare. I just wanted to refresh my reviews based on all the positive visits recently. I hope it stays on this path going forward! We shall read more

Never been to a tops with bad food. The BBQ and sides are GREAT. Best dish....belive it or not the tops hamburger. I've traveled throughout the USA and to this day the hamburger they make is the bomb!!! read more

This has to be one of the very worst dining experiences that I have recently had. I know it was a delivery order but the food was so cold, it was not edible. I Took one bit and threw the food in the garbage bin. The delivery did get to me very quickly so I am guessing that the ribs were microwave. Good ribs are not microwaved. I tried to call them but every one of their phone number, three in all had the mailbox full and could not take messages. Probably full from all the complaints. I definitely would not suggest this restaurant to anyone. read more

I'm new to the area, so I thought all BBQ places must be good around here, I was disappointed by this one. I ordered the BBQ sampler, with ribs, shoulder and brisket. The ribs were pretty good, however the pulled shoulder and brisket were dry and bland, very disappointing. read more

Very disappointing. Tops is like the Burger King of bbq. Fast food feel and quality. I had the ribs and would best describe them as dry and flavorless. Tried two of their bbq sauces, but they were way too vinegary (is that a word?). My sides (slaw and beans) were good and the best part of the meal. Strongly recommend you go elsewhere if looking for good bbq read more

i have eaten here at least 500 time, great bbq and ribs and potato salad only complainers come here to gripe, no idea what a brisket is sounds like some texas bbq but ive never seen it here the only draw back is the corny music id rathar eat in peace read more

I called in a turkey cheeseburger to go here. When I arrived about 10 mins. later it wasn't ready yet which was ok for me because I wanted it hot and fresh. It sure was. The combo was over $10 which I was surprised about. It came with a drink and 2 sides so I chose fries and potato salad. I know, I know. But I don't eat pork so most of their other sides were a no go. The turkey burger was actually really good and well seasoned. I can't tell if it was hand pattied but it will do. Unexpected for a BBQ place but give it a try. read more

I was craving bbq and stopped by Tops. What a waste? I ordered the Regular Brisket Sandwich (sauce and slaw on the side) Combo with fires and apple turnover. I get home and there is no bbq sauce and most of the brisket was fat. I craved bbq too much to let that slide so I went back to get the sandwich corrected. I told the cashier about the issue she asked the cooks to remake. I waited 15 minutes for my food to be remade!!!! After ppl that ordered after me I received their food I asked for a refund. This combo costed $11 and I was so disappointed that I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. I will stick to A&R Bbq to get my fix. read more

The food was bland, literally tossed all over the plate, I was charged $3.50 for a thumb sized cup of queso, they gave me the wrong sides and the cashier had an attitude out of this world. The places was prettt clean besides the restroom. The employees just were not inviting at all, The manager was the only person with welcoming energy. I regret wasting my money there overall. Idk if it's just this location but they stained the entire brand... read more

Not the quality I've come to know Tops BBQ for over the years. Ordered shoulder plate with fries and cole slaw. Unfortunately the fries were just this side of raw. Could taste the raw potato as I bravely tasted the limp, soggy fry. Cole slaw was more like a soup, but was better than the fry. BBQ was tasty, just be sure to order jumbo size if you have a hearty appetite. I left Tops in search of more food. read more

I saw the ratings and wasn't sure I wanted to go but my coworkers had been here so decided to take their suggestion. Wanted to get a little variety so decided to get #1 sandwich combo- regular pork shoulder with potato salad and sweet potato fries and a regular beef brisket. The beef brisket was so tender and flavorful! I loved it! So delicious. Such a quick and easy and cheap meal :) read more

Smh I hate to complain because normally my food is good and order is correct but I can't take 2 rubbings in one week or better yet in less than 72 hours . My first order which was the same as I always get the bbq sampler . I always get extra brisket and no shoulder because their brisket is kick ass good to my surprise so for 3$ extra I always get either double fry's and slaw for my sides and then ribs and brisket well Friday I was given my sides and for my extra brisket it was 2 big blops of uneatable fat ( yuck) well I took the L and made due with what I had . Ok no biggie we'll Sunday I get there around 9 pm and get my usual . Well first some lady said I would not be able to get my usual and after telling her I get the same thing daily she said it would be 3$ extra which is the norm so ok cool on time the wind I I go . Well I asked her as I paid to make sure my food was correct because I was given un eatable fat Friday instead of extra brisket . She gave a slight rant as if I did something wrong then raised open my plate as if she checked . Well I took her word on it considering I had just got off and was ready to eat . Well I get home and to my surprise my French fry's we're not on my plate and all I had was ribs and brisket and no extra brisket smh . Well I've called 15 times since I left the place at 9 and the phone is just busy smh . After calling over 20 times I finally get someone on the phone at 9:40 pm and she tells me they are closed and they will remake my order on Monday smh . On top of that why does Tops have that terrible vinegar Carolina based sauce smh this is Memphis we do sweet sauce here . Tops sauce is garbage just like the service smh . When they are good they are good but when it's bad it's really bad . They have this fine new nice looking facility on state line road and the service is terrible and just to add on not only was my food not all there tonight the brisket is tough as leather and just not good . People times are bad and money is to hard to come by right now to be given anything from restaurants. I'll definitely be there in the morning for the correct order . read more

It took my husband almost 2 hours to bring our food home. He said indoor was not available. The great double cheeseburger that they are famous for is not so good anymore. Food was cold dry and toppings were scarce. French Fries tasted like they had been cooked hours earlier. read more

On Sunday, my daughter and I decided to TREAT ourselves with Tops BBQ special - Combo Pulled Pork Sandwich for $5.00. IT WAS AWFUL. We ate in different rooms, so neither of us knew what the other thought. Mine had lots of end pieces in the pulled pork sandwich, so many I almost broke my teeth--Barely any Sauce or any slaw. The next day, I asked my daughter how was her sandwich, and she said it was awful...same complaints. Her fries were soggy and not that many. I got 2 words to say for that TOPS: NEVER AGAIN & BAD NEWS! Tried to call the Manager the next day, and was told "He's Busy" can I help you. Bad Customer Service, Bad Food. read more

The food is great, but the dining room was really gross and not clean. Tables had trash on them, the return tray bin overloaded, and staff seemed a bit ticked when a customer asked why the door was locked. She snapped and said yes I'll have to let you out. It was like 7:45pm. The sign says they close at 9 on sundays. She said she is closing the dining room now bc there aren't enough people. The door said masks are required but they're not enforcing anything. read more

Was going to order a six pack and two pounds of chopped shoulder. Per this site the cost should have been $39 before tax. Had to call them as their website isn't working ( kept getting server not found). Man on the phone said the total would be $60! Inflation is rampant, but this was a bit too much. read more

By far the worst tops around. And you better not be call in. Say on hold for 11 min and counting just to be hung up one and now my calls won't go through (probably because they got ten other people on hold also), I think getting you to hang up is a game to them. And I is usually really like tops! Disappointment, can't all be winners though! read more

Most of my family lives in the Tampa, FL area and they love Tops BBQ, as most of us from the area do. My family requested before my recent trip to visit them that I bring them some pulled pork and sauce. I spoke with Hunter, that works for the corporation, he's a regular patron of a restaurant that I work for, informed him that I was not allowed to visit Tampa without Memphis BBQ. Well, Hunter and the team at the Southaven location went above and beyond for my Tampa family. Y'all are awesome and keep doing what y'all are doing. It's not unnoticed as I know those of us in the industry feel that we are undervalued and not appreciated for the work we do! Perfect example of small, hometown hospitality!! read more

I did like Tops but it definitely isn't the best in the area. I got the pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw on it and it needed more bbq sauce and didn't see any on the tables or service area for easy access. I got the side potato salad and sweet fries both which were surprisingly good! My husband got the sandwich but bigger size and fries and cole slaw, the cole slaw is a little vinegary for his taste. But enjoyed his fries and sandwich. Good for the price. read more

love the cheeseburgers but lately not so good! Also you get two sides with burger and I got one large fries (I ordered double fries) and that's great but they were half full so really got small (9 Fries, just counted) and the lady at the window (who needs an attitude adjustment) refused to listen to my complaint! Oh Well! Trying to support but YOU MAKE IT SO HARD for me to want to spend my hard earn money! read more

I went to this location on March 26 and got the worst customer service ever. The manager was very rude and to top it off there was a employee making orders for the drive thur with her cell phone up to her ear. Furthermore I had to wait 45 minutes for a family pack meal and it was awful!!! This location really needs to practice better customer service! I made a complaint online to corporate and yet to have gotten a response. From this point I will just drive on by this location to find better food and service. read more

Actually deserves negative or no star, but it didn't give me the option!! Horrible horrible service tried all day from 11am until 8 pm to order picnic pac for next day, when I finally got thru they put me on hold immediately for 30 min before I finally hung up. We had two phones trying to call all day, plus we even tried another (Rhodes) location. No answer. Tops does not want your business nor do they deserve it. Poor poor poor , negative negative service!!! read more

In the past I've loved tops cheese burgers. This is my first time at this location. The meat has a very odd disgusting smell to it and taste. Maybe the meat is old or was left out ? Not sure what's going on with it but I had to throw my food away.. read more

Do not go here. I'm not saying don't go to tops, just don't go to this one. I've been going to to tops since I can I was born. I've been around the world and back; this is very disappointing. I grew up with the one on park by the firefighters. I worked closely to Winchester; and they get 91/2 out of 2. If are reading this; test me!!! read more

Tops has really gotten bad in such a short time! The food Two Cheeseburger were really terrible! The Burger was just thrown on a bun it looked bad. The service was none, no kind of customer service at all!! They need a whole new Management team in this location or close it down all the way. read more

I work down street from this Topps. They can NEVER get your order right, never any sauce or slaw on their pork sandwiches even when you request it. Their jumbo size looks like a regular all the time. Service is lackluster, food is bland. I hate this place. read more

The manager seems to be the only one with a sense of urgency. The service was really slow(took me 24 minutes to get my food). I ordered large fries, got charged for two smalls, and but only received a small order of fries. I didn't noticed u notice until after I pulled out of the parking lot, I called back and their response was "Okay". read more

Literally some of the worst barbecue I have ever put in my mouth. I cut across Stateline Road when I'm on my way to Little Rock from Birmingham, it's one of the quicker route through Memphis. My normal stop is central barbecue to grab a to go plate and enjoy as I drive I 40 to Little Rock. Today I decided to stop at tops right before I got to I 55. What a terrible decision. I ordered the sampler plate to get a small try of everything, the pork was so dry it was not edible, the brisket was so tough I could not bite through it, and the ribs tasted like they had been steamed two days ago. I'm not a rookie, I actually know better than to expect much, but I was hoping for at least mediocre. So sad this would even be considered Memphis barbecue. read more

Turnip greens - pretty standard Red beans and rice - pretty dang good for being in Mississippi. Ask for the hot sauce. Both my client and I really like this. Overall, this was a satisfying meal that we all enjoyed. They have never failed me. I'm not one to take food back to a restaurant after I leave. I didn't feel like it. I just want go back. The restaurant Huey's I heard is Awesome. People make mistakes. I just chalked this up as a loss and want return.

We saw a few tables exit and how would she even know if no one is hosting the stand? She literally had her back to everything. We felt trapped as 15, 20, 30, 45 minutes went by. After an hour we were finally seated. It was that horrible experience of not knowing if we should leave or if we had already invested so much time, surely we would be the next person called? I wish the hostess would've told the truth about the wait. It was only after patrons that came in behind us started to rightfully become upset, suddenly there was a host of people at the stand and tables were getting cleared. After an hour, we were finally seated in the very back of the restaurant and it took another 5 to 7 minutes before someone came over and acknowledged us. The salad bar area where you can make your sauce was missing half of the ingredients and absolutely no attempts were being made to refill the station. Items were left off of our order and we had to ask for them to be brought out. Saw a lot of employees standing around on their phones behind the salad bar station near the bathrooms in the kitchen. There are now far too many AYCE Korean/ Asian BBQ/ hotpot areas in Memphis to go back to a place with bad service and low quality food experiences. We used to proudly bring our out of town friends and family to try this dining experience- but would be too embarrassed to bring them now.
