I cannot stress this enough-- Jeff made the best meal I've ever had in my life. We hired Jeff to cater for my 21st birthday, and I could not have been happier with both the food itself, and Jeff as a person! We worked with Jeffrey Kramer and his team for our wedding day. After all was said and done, we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. After many (MANY) months of researching catering companies and private chefs alike, we finally found Jeff, and everyone else paled in comparison. (My issues with other catering companies spanned from a lack of individual care, to price-gouging, to a lack of food choices/limited offerings). This is one of those reviews that is so difficult to write, because how can I do him, his company, and his service justice. It's how he approaches his craft, and it's his entire way of working through the lens of genuine respect for food and people. He gets it. And he goes to all lengths to make sure you are communicating effectively together to ensure he understands exactly what you want and need. Jeff also offered us the choice of employing the services of a Wedding Coordinator he partners with, which we wisely opted in for. Marnie Lerner is a true gem and an essential part of helping pull our whole day together. These two worked so well together as a team, and it was just apparent that they truly had everything more than under control. A separate full review for her will be written, of course! When you're looking for a caterer or a chef for your very special event, you are forced to hand over the reins at one point, and just... trust. This is the scariest. But, with Jeff, no need to be concerned at alllll. He works so very hard before your event, to make sure every detail has been considered and accounted for, and that everything will pan out as you envision. And he works so very hard during your event, along with his carefully orchestrated professional and talented crew to make sure all is executed just so, at just the right time. I need to add that we had very particular dietary needs for a handful of our guests, and Jeff didn't bat an eye. My guests were both taken care of according to their health needs, but also according to their preferences. We had such fantastic, delicious choices for our guests! Everything from pre-ceremony refreshments, to eye-popping tasty appetizers (crab cakes, baked shrimp alexander, wild mushroom bruschetta (V), strawberry bruschetta (V), and truffle beef sliders), to the heirloom tomato, burrata, and arugula salad before the main course. He also provided a variety of yummy breads on the table per our request. And of course, the amazing entrees (chilean seabass, local grass-fed filet mignon, organic airline chicken breast, and vegan tempeh dosas - I'm not vegan and OMG these were crazy amazing!) and finally dessert which was a beautifully presented fresh fruit and cheese platter, and this French butter cream chocolate mousse cake that you will never, ever stop thinking about. I mean it. If I could go back before our wedding and tell my pre-wedding self about him and his company, and that there's absolutely nothing to worry about because everything is going to be flawless, delicious (SO DELICIOUS), beautiful, and memorable ... and with the lasting memory we have of this special and meticulously created meal... well sadly that's just not how life works, but it is WHY I'm writing this review. I hope everyone who is searching high and low for that just-right person to work magic at their special event will be able to find Jeff. And Jeff, I will be calling you again soon, for any occasion I possibly can justify having you at. I appreciate all you did for us, and words just don't seem like enough. I'm not sure you can get a better catering company. They were at a TEDxTopanga event and I thought my mouth had found heaven. This is the only time I wish I were a cow..(seven stomachs), so I could savor their treats all day long. They were very professional with such an elegant, tasteful menu. I was amazed at the types of food that were so 'spot-on' to the culture with a twist of extra umph. I can't say enough good things about Chef Jeff's food. Everything I have ever tried of his is the best example of that food I have had. This guy has catered events and cooked privately for A+ level celebrities (including a former President) for a reason -- his food is delicious and unique. He can also cook for the most particular of dietary requirements (not my issue, but I know people who have them and for whom he has cooked). He's simply the best! And a great guy too. read more

Chef Jeff is a true diamond in the food industry. I worked with him for a year, catering to game developers, which is extremely picky group, yet Chef Jeff knew the exact menu to provide for this team. I have never had fresher quality food then Chef Jeff's. I still to this day can not find a restaurant or catering that, till this day, can compare to his food. I was fortunate and spoiled to have Chef Jeff's food for a year. If there was any reason to go back in time in my life, it would be to enjoy that year of eating Chef Jeff's food on a daily. Absolutely amazing food! I've now been to 3 events at private homes that Topanga Catering has catered and each time, we have been absolutely blown away by the overall quality and preparation of each item. I've never been to events that received more praise for the food then with Topanga Catering. I've sampled a number of their dishes from their huge assortment of appetizers to fantastically creative desserts. My MOST favorite would have to be their crazy good spare ribs. It may actually be one of my favorite dishes from anywhere - they are insanely good! If you happen to have an event and you hire Topanga Catering, please invite me as I'll make sure that no food goes to waste (although with these guys, I know you wouldn't have that problem)! I and Jeff worked together for 1 year (2014). He helped provide a daily catering service for the staff at Cloud Imperium Games (I was the Production Coordinator at the Santa Monica Studio). Not only did he provide the highest quality of food, he also went the extra length to provide alternatives for people who were vegetarian or people who were very basic and didn't know much about high standard food. Jeff is also very receptive to feedback and stride to make the team feel excited to eat his food everyday. Such amazing food! I attended a bar mitzvah catered by Topanga Catering, and it could have not been more delicious. The brisket sliders during the appetizer hour were so good that people were apologizing to the servers for taking so many, and the salmon with dill was perhaps my hands down favorite part of dinner. I attended a private event that Topanga Catering catered 2 weeks ago and was BLOWN AWAY by the food. Delicious quinoa salad, asparagus prepared just perfectly, extremely savory chicken, amazing salmon with what I think was dill and yuzu - every thing was fresh, flavorful and distinctive, which are not words I associate with catering, which can so often be the same old bulk dishes made the same old way. The flavors and care of preparation of Topanga's food rivals the best restaurants in LA. I can't wait to have an event where I can use them myself! read more
