My friends and I booked a whale watching tour last week because we heard that orcas had recently…read morebeen spotted on Newport Coast, which is so rare this point we knew it was a longshot, but we knew we would still have a great time even if we didn't see any orcas. The company did a great job of emailing us all of the information days before our tour and there was ample parking. We ended up parking across the street with no issues at all. We walked over to Balboa and checked in at David's locker and lined up and boarded the boat. There was plenty of seating and the boat wasn't completely full. We opted to stand most of the tour but there were plenty of spots to sit. There were bathrooms on board that were very clean. We liked that they had a full bar, with very friendly bartenders, and they also had chips and other snacks for sale. We didn't see any animals for the first hour or so of the tour, but then we went further out and saw hundreds of dolphins! It was the coolest thing I've ever seen! They swam with the boat and our tour guides were so amazing that they let us stay out almost another full hour just to enjoy the experience with the dolphins. No orcas were spotted but we were ok with that! The staff was very nice, helpful, and had great personality and attitude. I would definitely book this to her again because everyone was so friendly and nice and we had such a great time even though it was really hot. We didn't really feel that uncomfortable because of the ocean breeze and I can't wait to go back for the Christmas light tour and for another whale watching tour soon!

Absolutely amazing on how they upgraded all the surrounding areas…read more Lots of new parking with a new multilevel parking structure and new bathrooms and showers for the boaters that have a permit for boat parking to launch their Crafts from Dana Point harbor. Automatically given 4 hours of free parking with quick access to any of the numerous restaurants and gift shops right on the water. This is the spot if you want to go offshore fishing on a charter or whale watching which I did on a couple hour tour it was outstanding. Not to mention all the whales dolphins and other mammals that were seen offshore. Tuesdays they still do half off. If you have not been give it a try it's so much better now with the easy access and plenty of free 4 hour parking. Don't overlook the stunning safe day beaches without the big Surf issues

Our group of 25 guests enjoyed a beautiful 2.5-hour sunset cruise, and it truly could not have been a more memorable way to celebrate such an incredible milestone. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. A few weeks before our event, the owner graciously allowed me to come aboard for a walk-through so I could familiarize myself with the layout of the boat, meet the crew, and feel comfortable with all the details ahead of time. That extra level of hospitality and attention was greatly appreciated and made planning the event so much easier. On the day of our cruise, the crew was fantastic. They were welcoming, attentive, and took such great care of our entire group. They passed out our individual charcuterie boxes, made sure everyone was comfortable, and even took us out into the open water in hopes of spotting dolphins. Most importantly, they created a relaxed atmosphere that allowed our group to laugh, celebrate, and simply enjoy our time together. The Curlew provided the perfect setting for such a special celebration, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful to the owner and crew for helping make this 40th anniversary celebration one we will always remember. Capt. Bob saw a fishing boat in a protected area and respectfully recommended that they move to a legal place. The fishing crew was not as respectful. Instead of blowing up, Capt. Bob handled it appropriately and got them to move off. Thanks for protecting our marine life in a such a mature way!!! Looking forward to going out again with Bob and his exceptional dive masters!
