Late review since we just learned they changed management a while back…read more We thought this was a good daycare for our dog after a few trial days so we bought a package, but upon first day of the package they said our dog wasn't getting along with another dog (so what happened the first 2 days?) --so we took her out. I guess they let all 30 dogs go out to play at the same time with no separation of bigger /smaller dogs. I asked to transfer the package to my 2nd dog who was a puppy and not neutered yet and was waiting until they were 2 years as recommended, - they said it's fine and I can use it whenever...but when new management took over they didn't notify us through email or anything that packages expire. So now we just wasted a few hundred for nothing because they won't honor it. Crappy new management who won't work with their customer- you could have earned more money in the future if you actually tried to meet in the middle with a solution. They wanted me to buy more services- NO THANKS.

The facility is incredible and absolutely affordable!! Brought my Great Dane here for boarding for…read morethe weekend and added on a walk. Each night is about $45 for boarding. A downside is you get charged for Sunday night even if you pick them on Sunday. And you can only pick them up between 4-6pm on Sunday. They take your dog outside every 2 hours during the day to potty AND you get 3 play sessions each day! The front desk area is incredibly nice, although I was terrified my pup was gonna mark his territory on the rug or chairs in the waiting area - luckily he didn't! My dogs room was in the aquatic facility and had a futon and chair for him to chill. The facility is huge with a ton of buildings and plenty of outdoor play areas with high fences. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the slightly odd interactions I had with the staff. I called a few times to check on my pup and they seemed surprised that I did and just told me he was doing good. And the behavior sheet I got at the end was pretty bare compared to ones I've gotten at other places, especially with him being there for 2 days. My 6 year old border collie had always been a nervous dog and did not like strangers around her…read more She would nip at people without warning, so we did not take her anywhere. Even though our family was pretty social, she was never part of our social life. When people came over, we put her in a locked room. She rarely went in the car anyplace, and going to the vet was a nightmare. Last summer, I turned Aubrey's world upside down. I got married and moved into a new house. This household included another dog and a special needs 26 year old. The first few weeks were stressful. Aubrey was very anxious and my stepson did not read her cues. There were a few bite incidents and nobody could relax. I didn't know what to do and thought I would have to surrender my dog. I looked online and saw Kasten's Dog Training, which I knew to be close to my new house in Elkhart. I truly doubted that anyone could help my six year old dog. I called and scheduled an online interview. I remember feeling very optimistic after that first phone call. Right away, I felt like there was someone who understood what we were going through, and was going to help me keep my dog. I had nothing much to lose, so I signed her up! Aubrey participated in Program 5- Behavioral Modification for Aggressive Dogs and Dogs with a Bite History. She spent 21 days at Kasten's split into two sessions. After the first 9 days, I came to pick her up and immediately noticed a difference in her demeanor. She completed the second half of her training right before Christmas. When my son came home college, he was shocked to see how much better she was behaving. She had a new confidence and was no longer so anxious. She was a treat to take on walks and we didn't have to worry about her darting out the door anytime it opened. We have taken Aubrey to Kasten's for boarding several times in the past year. Being able to board her, and know she is safe, has been such a blessing. The fact that she was receiving refreshers as she stayed there was an added bonus. Before coming to Kasten's, I never would have even thought that I could board her anywhere. The trainers at Kasten's were so helpful and did such a great job with Aubrey. They worked tirelessly with her, and I could see the extra effort that they put in to get her to feel more comfortable, and eventually enjoy training sessions. Kasten's Dog Training has improved our family's life. We can now enjoy our active social lives and include Aubrey. She jumps happily into her kennel when told, walks on a leash like a show dog and even goes on trips to the hardware store several times a month. She and my stepson have a mutual understanding, and both of them feel much safer around each other. Making that phone call to Kasten's was truly one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Plus, the open layout means the store can have a lot of customers without ever making you feel crowded. (I avoid PetSmart stores because I always feel boxed in and suffocated even when there are very few people in the store.) Most importantly, it's super clean. No matter how many people and pets in there, I have never seen the place less than spotless. Incredible.

Just a receipt and "have a good one" like seriously? I understand it's a crappy job but you can do the bare minimum of ringing up customers and bagging their items. This place has really gone downhill and I'd be better off going to Amazon and getting broken reptile bulbs than this.

All my extra time is now devoted to getting my dog through day six of a 10 day, extra regiment of Augmentin and a seven day regiment of doxycycline. A five-day antibiotic course is not supposed to be a universal rule for every canine UTI. It is generally intended for selected cases of uncomplicated bacterial cystitis after the dog's individual condition has been properly assessed. In my dog's case, I do not feel there was an adequate evaluation of how sick he actually was or whether his infection might have required a different approach. My concern is not simply that the treatment lasted five days, it is that a general guideline appeared to take the place of an individualized clinical assessment. ---- My dog came in with a serious UTI. Suffice to say we were back in another emergency vet once the very short course of antibiotics had run out. This time his bladder was seriously inflamed and had spread to one kidney. He is now on a longer course of antibiotics, pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs. I am typically reluctant to comment negatively on a vet practice as I know how difficult the job is, but aside from the tech working that night (she was amazing) it felt like a nightmare. The short course of antibiotics my pet was given directly lead to an incomplete cure and eventually more serious progression.
