Top Driver in Mchenry is wonderful. We were lucky to have Samantha as our sons instructor and she is absolutely amazing. It really makes a difference when someone loves their job and truly cares about their students. She made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable for our son. Avoid this place if you can. They advertise that they have in car teachers but really they don't. They will tell you to log in at the beginning of the month to schedule in car training but they don't have enough to meet the demand. Logging in at midnight on the first of the month and they have no availability. If you call to schedule they only have a small window when they will answer the phone. Office closes at 5pm and they shut the phones down for lunch. Because they never have enough in car teachers it's taken me too long to complete the program for which i just got changed a fee. Even tho they don't have enough teachers to let me complete in a reasonable time frame. The teachers that we've had have been great when we can get them but the office and there web portal is not worth the money. read more

Currently speaking to Top Driver on the phone for scheduling driving appointments, which they cannot do. I have been trying for months to schedule appointments and their solution is to do everything I have been doing. I tried going here to make this an easier process than waiting a long time through the school district, should've just waited it would've been less painful and a lot cheaper. The driving instructor herself was phenomenal, the out of the classroom experience is horrible. My daughters experience at top driver (McHenry) was nothing short of amazing! Samantha was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She was knowledgeable, personable and patient. She always made my daughter feel comfortable and always put in the extra effort. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. Like many others have said it is nearly impossible to schedule behind-the-wheel driving lessons. I visit the site several times a day and still have to pull my daughter out of school for one lesson and had to drive to another town for one just to attempt to get them completed. I have paid for this service it should not feel like an attempt to buy sold-out concert tickets. They obviously oversell and provide little to no customer service. I just placed a call requesting help and I should receive a call back in 5 days - 5 DAYS! Not to mention for some reason my daughter knows the political affiliation of one of the instructors because of his political rant during a lesson. Just unacceptable. read more

My son took his course and lessons with Samantha. He had such amazing and positive experiences. My son has become very knowledgeable and confident with his driving because of her. Can't recommend this place they take your money and then basically say your are sol. Had to drive my son to Joliet, Schaumburg, Lindenhurst ect from mchenry just to get behind the wheel time. They have plenty of class part but not enough behind the wheel. Then after he was done it took and additional call because they hadn't sent anything into the state in 20 days. Still doesn't show up.good at collecting money nothing else. read more

I paid the money for my son to attend classes. COVID forced us to go very slow every time I tried to register him for a drive there was nothing available. Then his time run out and they will not back you in any way shape or form. They now want me to pay another $150 when they weren't even open part of Covid. This company only wants your money they don't wanna help you. read more

Do not use! Paid in full August of 2021 and couldn't schedule a singe behind the wheel or observation until January of 2022. It is now April of 2022 and still need two of each. I have been unable to schedule not even one of these online, have to call into Customer Service, request a Manager call back, email Regional Manager who generically replies to call Customer Service. I have heard every excuse, they don't have enough instructors, they are trying to make up classes from 2020-2021 and of course COVID. They had no problems taking full payment for service they have been unable to provide. My son paid for this with his own monies so that he could obtain his license on his 16th birthday......he had over a year to complete and they have made it impossible. Mr Skolnick was/is a terrible teacher. He was very rude and disrespectful to my daughter. I spoke with other people and their children had similar experiences with Skolnick. I wouldn't ever suggest sending your child to a school that keeps employees like this. Get a clue Skolnick, the customer is paying the bill, learn some customer service. read more

My daughter thought the teacher/classroom part was boring (but she IS a teenager). The instructors for the in car driving lessons were great. She came home from each lesson encouraged and with more great tips and advice. The online scheduling for lessons was super easy to use. Customer service was very helpful when we ran into a bind with getting all of the lessons done before deadline. All in all - a great experience. Glad we choose Top Driver McHenry and would recommend to anyone read more

I cannot recommend this location to anyone. While I know people who have had a good experience I have run into issues. I have a busy schedule and before going to this location I called and talked to a customer service girl about times that my kid could do driving time as I knew it would be an issue. They assured me that they had plenty of time and could accommodate my schedule. When I called to set up driving time for my child there were no available dates. We are taking the class in August and they want me to wait until after November to see if any dates open up. I escalated my issue with Yolanda and I cannot connect back with her and I am getting nowhere fast. I have two other kids to take drivers ed in the next few years and I will not return to this location. I am certainly disappointed by the service and follow through with their customer service. Do not promise something you cannot follow through with and give me a difficult time because of it. I asked before signing my child up and you could not delivery on your promise. Now I am stuck in a back and forth battle. These things should not be this difficult. read more
