We were very pleased with the work he and his colleagues did, have asked him to do other work on our house, and recommend him strongly. Johnanthony brings to his work excellent building skills, great intelligence and creativity, perseverance, honesty, kindness, and friendliness--and a fine sense of humor, an important asset in dealing with the frustrations of renovation work. And there were a lot of frustrations on our jobs. Our house was not well designed, and many shortcuts were taken in its construction. Being a kitchen-and-bath-renovation general contractor is a very difficult profession, as you're constantly fitting new wiring, plumbing, appliances, and other work--all the fundamental systems that make a house work--into an existing structure, rather than being able to "start fresh". In our case, the difficulty was increased by the "inherited" problems in our house. And we had problems with delays and incorrect shipments from suppliers, and we caused some problems by changing our minds about some things. Throughout all of this, Johnanthony worked hard and thoughtfully to solve problems, to figure out new ways of doing things as the structure of the house required initial plans to be modified. When problems came up, he worked with us to solve them. When we had warranty issues--bad finish jobs on a couple of our cabinet doors--he made sure that the vendor replaced them, and installed the new ones at no cost to us. Johnanthony was very consultative with us and made it clear that our happiness with our new rooms was his highest priority. We felt that Johnanthony's pricing was fair, and he was very clear about his billing process. We felt that he was completely honest.

I stopped into Ferguson's last week, at my wits' end after being told by a shyster plumber that I…read morewould have to replace my bathroom sink, breaking up my vintage pink Kohler bathroom porcelain. I was served by Paul, a wonderful, soft-spoken fellow. Paul was knowledgeable and steady, despite my emotional exhaustion over this plumbing debacle, and I now trust him. Before I'd spent half a sentence describing my fixtures, Paul knew exactly the type I was talking about and was already on the trail of the needed (albeit very expensive) replacement hardware. The porcelain would be saved. Despite my frothing at the bit, he gently suggested I NOT buy the replacement right away, but measure at home first. He was right - I would have bought something that wouldn't work. Another dead end, thought I, and I was ready to give up. But Paul, that trail cold, made a call to Kohler, sent me a spec sheet for the right parts, and had the parts on my doorstep *less than 24 hours* after I returned the credit card authorization form. One drawback, either Ferguson's or Paul (or the whole plumbing industry?) is stuck in the fax age and wary of email. I can't remember the last time I had to interact with a fax machine.

Today I attended the Herb Planting Class at Kospia Farms. First I want to comment that with…read moreeverything going on at the Farm today in celebration of Mothers, it was very well organized. Behind the greenhouse, we had a delightful time listening to our instructors who clearly have worked side by side at the farm. Educational facts about herbs with a sprinkling of humor began the event. It is so wonderful to attend a class where they share their knowledge about the herbs and their uses. They give you salient advice that helps you decide on which herbs fit the taste profile you enjoy so you build your herb pot on what fits you. Then to top it all off they gave us a handout that covered trimming, drying and pairing herbs as well as a few recipes! A wonderful experience! Thank you for making my Mother's day extra special!
