I have extremely sensitive teeth that usually required injections before they could be cleaned. But Collette actually had plastic tools for sensitive teeth. This was the first cleaning in 15 years that I did without numbing! Very social office, felt like I had been a client for years. Dr. Pendleton was very thorough, pointed out a few "trouble spots" that my CA dentist has had a watch on for years, and he agreed to keep watching them instead of pressure to get "extra" work done. This is a small independant office that I would highly recommend over the corporate practices.

Happily, his office takes both of our insurances. We were able to get back-to-back check-ups recently. Dr. Vargo took us each back for X-rays, exams and consultations. He explained what he was doing and was easy to talk to. He asked us about any dental issues we had and explained how he is a bit more laid back than perhaps other dentists, in that he only drills and fills if he is sure it's a cavity. He pointed to a couple of stains on my molars that others might interpret as cavities, but by scraping them with a dental pick, he could see these weren't cavities. I appreciate that he won't put me through the pain of fillings for no reason. My husband did have a cavity, though. He was able to get a return visit scheduled for the filling within about a week. We were able to each also schedule cleanings. I've already been back for mine. These slots do seem to fill up fast, though, so I'd recommend scheduling in advance. The desk clerk was very positive and friendly. And the location inside MidCity Mall makes it very convenient. You can even go grocery shopping afterward at ValuMarket if in need. Dr. Vargo also mentioned that his office has been open for close to 30 years. It's been WAY too long since I was last at a dentist -- like so long that I'm embarrassed by it -- so I'm happy that I now have a new dental home.

Another dentist explained what Dr. Nasief did wrong. I could tell the new dentist felt really sorry for what was done to me. Now, I have to pay $3,000.00 for an implant. I will never go back to Dr. Nasief. Many people I know have known him since the 1970's. They say he is under the influence most of the time. I guess that is why he has to rip people off.

I remember when I moved to Chicago and tried to find someone else up there. They tried to claim I had 22 cavities. I took the image to Rakutt, and they told me that there were places that tried to take advantage of bright-eyed, naive, people. Lesson learned. He told me I had no cavities and to be careful. I traveled from Chicago to see him. I couldn't trust anyone else. I was one of his first patients he got to put braces on. If my memory serves me correctly, when I first went to him as a wee pre-teen, he did not have the necessary certification to do braces. But he was studying to be able to. Voila! He finished, put some braces on me, and straight teeth are now had. Slightly adjusted as time goes on, but still relatively straight. I love the people that work there. Carlotta, the front of office, always asked about my family and me. She is always smiling and is just a calming presence. I hope he never retires, but I feel the day approaching. Till then, I will keep coming to hear his soothing and calm voice tell me, "Well, everything looks great!!"

They are expensive but what dental work isn't. I asked why they didn't have a higenisist and they advised they find better results if they do their own cleanings. I have never had issues. Reading some of the other comments may have been fair criticism but on the flip side they are people too. Friendly interaction is acceptable. And we only have 1 side of the story from the other clients. I have never felt like I was being ignored or could not approach them about any issues. I tell them what is going on and they investigate and fix the issue. Would highly recommend them.

I provided my insurance information before my visit, yet the office still failed to submit the claim correctly. Because of this, I received a bill that should have been handled through insurance in the first place. When I asked about it, Tim was dismissive and not helpful at all. A dental office should focus on patient care and proper administrative work. Unfortunately, this place seems more focused on managing online reviews than actually taking care of patients and basic billing responsibilities. I would not recommend this office unless they seriously improve their front desk professionalism and billing procedures.

I then asked if they were done with my IDs and they were--just never called me over to the desk to pick them up. On to the teeth cleaning...30 min later. Emily the hygienist was pleasant, efficient, and gentle with my teeth. X-rays were taken as well as photos because "the insurance companies like them". Maybe? Anyway, I give the cleaning a full 5 stars--if I could do that in a separate review. Then the dentist comes in with the news: you need 2 crowns. Completely expecting this (to the point I researched our insurance info on crowns beforehand), the dentist says they use a super hard material and it is practically indestructible. I have one crown now (on a baby tooth) that I've had for over a decade and if you eat and drink...they wear down. So call me a skeptic--I did know I needed them, but he seemed to over hype them quite a bit. Then, while still in the dentist chair, the insurance person comes in to give me the cost sheet. After explaining that I'm not so great at math but the cost seemed high, I was told "you should be happy you have insurance! Look-you saved almost $xxx!". I then mentioned that crowns are covered at 40%, and unless my math was incorrect...she chimed in that oh, that's true, but they don't do what is covered at 40% because their crowns are so much better. And, they offer 12 month no interest financing. I tell her I'm not as concerned about the cost as to why they don't offer what the insurance company will pay. Seeing as she won't get me to schedule, I am then rushed to sign and leave. After speaking to my insurance company, I now know that due to the location, only stainless steel crowns (which cost less and wear harder than porcelain) were covered at 40%. I'm getting the breakdown of what will be covered and what won't. I feel duped. This should have been explained. I know my way around claims processes and insurance coverage more than most, and feel if I wasn't given all the info how would others really know. I think at this point, I'll be looking for a dentist that will do the stainless crowns (they referred to as "silver" which is very confusing being that silver isn't used for dental fillings anymore) and they will get my business instead. Very disappointed, yet for a basic cleaning, they were great, so the average of 3 stars.

Dr Ramey said "I can't do that here, they won't let me"He told me I needed a crown. Then after I said no the office manager who is a big Burley guy came over and tried to intimidate me by telling me I needed four crowns! It was like I was at a timeshare event! Then I had to get up before my fillling and pay for my visit! Then the next day they had already booked me an appointment for February! I am heartbroken that Dr. Ramey is working for such a crooked company! Be aware! After all these years, I'm going to have to find another dentist!
