Verdict: Melbourne is absolutely packed with Bakeries of all shapes and sizes, but none of the ones I visited even holds a candle to Tooradin Bakery. If you're in the area (likely en route from the city to Philip Island), there's no reason you shouldn't drop by.
Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere?
Getting satisfaction from the food at a shop or restaurant is one thing, but receiving just as much satisfaction from the service is a rare treat. At Tooradin, this is very much the case, with a well-versed and friendly staff that appears to keep the locals coming back on a daily basis. In combination with a spacious yet quaint package of both indoor and outdoor seating, Tooradin Bakery really does have it all in the service and atmosphere departments. Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
While I opted to pay $2.80 for a Chocolate Chip Biscuit (it would seem as though large, fresh-baked Chocolate Chip Cookies haven't quite caught on in Australia... oh well), just about everything I saw in Tooradin Bakery represented a good deal.

Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
While my Chocolate Chip Biscuit was quite good, it's the selection at Tooradin Bakery that really is a selling point. With goods ranging from breads to sweets to pies that could serve anyone from a single to a full family of five, Tooradin's selection trumps anything I encountered in the city. Additionally, with a fully functioning Deli, Tooradin really does have every base covered. Dual Stars Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
Absolutely, and it would appear as though a host of Tooradin locals do just that. With great service, good prices and a truly incredible selection... who wouldn't? Star Granted. read more
