I began going there about 15 years ago and it was a great dive bar...the selection is OK but their mixer head for coke and sparking water uses city water and everything from it taste like chlorine. The prices are great as is the service most of the time, but I have noticed a gradual decline in the quality of the people that come in...just my opinion... read more

If you like smoke filled sports bars you'll love Tony's. They've plenty of pool tables and dart boards too. Their draft beers are meager; their bottle selections aren't much better. Well, well, well. Look what I found. I have found dive paradise. When you think of a dive bar, you envision a bar that is exactly like this. Bars like this don't strive to change, but strive to remain exactly the way they are. I think Tony's has earned the right in the community to remain exactly the way they are. Now I've only been here one time, and that one time meant allot. Especially for someone who is as picky as I am. Tony's got me on one of those nights where I needed a rescue. I visited Tony's on the night of Cinco de Mayo. I've never been out on that day before so decided to go out and see what the celebration were all about. Boy was I disappointed on the Mexican restaurant that I selected but that's a different review (Tio Chu Cho). Afterwards, I decided to go on an adventure to find a new spot to just have a few drinks before heading home. I thought of Tony's as I always passed it by, but never stopped yet hoped it was a non smoking bar. Well... It's not.. And that's the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars. (I could never give 5 stars to any place the allows smoking. Just me.) The service we received at Tony's by Brian the bartender was superb. I had about 6 Jack and Cokes and all 6 were made exactly the same, in the larger glasses and only 6 bucks. I was in Jack Daniels paradise. Brian was consistent and had that "hell yeah I'm a bartender and proud of it" personality. Awesome! To add to that excellent service, the music that was being played was nothing short of flawless. I mean I felt right at home. The DJ was kicking out some classic rock tunes as well as some excellent 90's rock. I'm talking music ranging from Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Disturbed, Counting Crows, Seether, Bon Jovi and all the likes. It....was....awesome!!! Despite this being a bar that allows as much smoking as one can ever stand, they make up for it in customer service and music. This spot completely saved my Cinco de Mayo disaster night and officially have a brand new customer. Oh, they do not serve food, but they are directly next to a spot that I visited before stopping in that makes some very tasting Mexican food. ( Viva Jalisco Taqueria) I will be reviewing them soon. I'm sorry my friend, you took me here on good intentions but it just did not jingle my jangle. Obviously this is a favorite for many locals which shows in the parking lot on a Thursday night but that's for them and I will not fester them with my presence. The drinks were pretty cheap or at least decent to say the most. Three margaritas and a glass of wine afforded me $18 and all was well but by the time I wanted to close my tab it seemed I was in the ignore section as well as the smoke drift in the face to top it off. I did not know it was a smoking establishment but it's a bar and that is understood but ventilation seemed to have been pointed at channeling towards my face no matter where I stood. I'm probably going to get flogged in messages by everybody but it's just my experience that I will remember in not so good way but they're worth a second chance in the future. I had been keeping an eye on this place for some time. I finally walk in one evening after taking a chance on the little spot next door. I couldn't help myself after hearing all the great music coming from this spot. This first visit happen to be on a Monday, yea a Monday. They had a DJ this night and it was a great variety of classic rock and some 90's rock and a number of personal request. I started out with ordering me a margarita on the rocks and I will say I was impressed considering this was a dive bar. It was shockingly fresh with a well balance of sweet and sour. This was thanks to Brian. He know what he is doing behind that bar. I was able to see him in action first hand, as he did his mixology thing he had going. The time past me by so fast here that the next thing I knew it was last call. That is proof of a great night. Then on my second visit I was talked into to coming back here and had some friends join me. I was sad to find out Brian wasn't working this night, so I dared to request a Rita in hopes it would be the same. Well, that was a fail. The group I was with, were on a shot craze so patron it was for me. This was another great fun filled night and I did mange to get my margarita fixed thanks to Houston. He actually took the time to listen to my complaint with the drink and although he didn't make it, he cared enough to fix it and make sure I liked it. The one star that is lacking, is for the smoking and no food. I am not a smoker, but the ambiance and friendliness of this place will bring me back for sure even if they don't sell food. You ever feel like shit, and need a nice cold drink to cheer you up? This is the place to go man. You get into the amazing atmosphere, and you forget your worries. Bartenders are SUPER FRIENDLY, they will take care of you good. Drinks are spot on, you can't really get much better than this. It is a smoking joint and it hits you when you walk in, but other than that I definitely recommend if your in the area. Everyone there is nice and welcoming, plus it's located next to this awesome mexican restaurant called "Viva Jalisco" that will deliver it to you next door. I would suggest this place to anyone who prefers smoking and lives on the North-side of town. A small local bar like many others I am sure with Golf and Bowling arcades, electronic dart boards, pool tables, and a small dance floor. The atmosphere has a good ole boy feel, good people, and good bartenders. I have come back again and again due to some good happy hour prices and some late night specials. On occasion there is food on the weekends during football season, everyone just talks, is really calm, and just enjoys the game. I have met a couple good friends here, and have met some nice people. Possible Downsides for bar folks: 1) Very smokey, if you don't like it, do not go. 2) Never know when there's gonna be a DJ, though the usual one who shows up there, is very open to playing a variety. I have had him play tons of Beatles there. 3) The pool tables have some kinks, but the staff will help you if you ask. read more

It's a smoke house filled with very loud people. I just couldn't stay in it was rather smokey.

I have to say, I really like this place. The atmosphere is great. The bartenders are friendly. Always good service. The music is always good! There's actually an app that you can even download to chose music you wanna hear and play it. I highly suggest going on a Thursday night. They have free poker, so no buy in or anything. And you have a chance to win $100, $50 or a $25 bar tab. So that's ways great! I definitely will keep this bar in my top 5. read more

This is the kind of place you don't really want to like, and you probably don't at first. The lighting is dim, and it's hit or miss whether the bartenders are gonna be really great or completely ignore you. I've gone twice and gotten no service in ten minutes, and left. But then, you keep going for some reason, and you realize that everyone you know goes there and it's not so bad. This is the bar you end up at at the end of the night. The one you think nobody will be at, and then you run into 6 people you know. Definitely a cypress staple. You've gotta give it a shot.
