NEVER going back. Run far away from this place. It's unfortunate to write this because the staff and environment was so pleasant and took my jacket and provided me with coffee but none of that matters if i leave with a bad haircut that's going to take over a year or more to grow out. I've sat for the last almost 24 hours trying to determine if it was even worth writing a review but…read morefeedback is the best gift in the service industry so here we are... My family and I just moved here. I have a pixie that I'm growing out and had a bit of anxiety about finding a new stylist. I've seen the same stylist for over 6 years... it's a relationship, a commitment and not simple to find a new person. After reading countless reviews of salons in the area, I landed on Tony Shamas. They seemed to be multicultural with good reviews and that was a BIG tick in the pro column for my 4a type hair (naturally curly/wavy but thick with fine strands). When I made the appointment in the online service I clearly put my hair type, that I prefer dry cuts and that I was growing out a pixie. When I got there, I was seated promptly and my stylist, Clarissa, introduced herself. I explained the dry cut, she said she wasn't used to them but that she could do it. She asked Tony over to get his thoughts and proceeded cutting. To get to the point, it's not a good cut. About 1/2 way through she asked Tony to come over and fix it. Which is also when the receptionist rushed over and said he JUST saw my note and next time he'll put me with someone else. Tony did try to fix it but now it's too short everywhere and I'll have to go somewhere else to just go back to a pixie. It's disappointing; I've spent the last year growing my hair out... every precious inch makes a difference. And even in fixing the cut, the sides around my ears are too short, it's uneven is odd places, I can go on. The worst part to me came in the comments made by the salon workers and the fact that they charged me full price. Microaggressions were abound. Asking if I had a relaxer (because Tony couldn't believe how straight I got my hair without a blow dryer), Clarissa nodding in understanding when I mentioned my naturally curly hair and comments about the possible kink when it gets wet (again, I have fine 4a type hair). I'm sure they do great color work and a fine job with very specific hair types, but I would caution against showing up with short hair- I will not go back.

I was lucky to get an appointment in the same week, I was monitoring the website looking for openings since I was desperate after the long lockdown. When I arrived, I had to text a number and someone came to get me from inside the salon. They were great about physical distancing and covid safety measures with clear dividers between each salon chair and hair washing stations. Droudy was excellent, she was gentle and patient and was able to understand exactly what I wanted even with my less than optimal descriptions. I told her I cut my hair myself and she said she would be able to fix it and clean it all up for me. She also took her time to explain what exactly she was going to do by showing me the back of my hair and explaining what would look best. The whole experience was very therapeutic and exactly what I needed. Even after she blow dried my hair, I asked her to cut the front pieces a bit shorter and she was happy to accommodate. She also asked me if I was ok with all the products she was using which is something no other hair stylist has ever asked before - small touch but I really appreciated it. I will 100% be returning to Civello to see Droudy for all my future hair appointments!!

I found tons of spas in downtown Toronto using Google, but wanted to find something closer. Saw the sign for this place as I was driving along Kingston and decided to drop in. Oh how lucky I was! I was greeted right away by the owner (William) and I booked 3 appointments. Sis-in-law and wife opted for facials instead of massages. They raved about the service and have been looking for a place exactly like this (superior quality of the procedure and extractions)! In the DC area, we've had no luck... Every spa/salon we've tried only performed minor extractions (not worth the price of the facial). My wife also decided to get a haircut while she was waiting for her facial. She told me that she got one of the best haircuts she's ever received! She said William was awesome and now her hair has more volume and the style is better suited to her hair's natural curliness. My brother-in-law and I were so impressed that we both decided to get haircuts as well. Our stylist, Karelia, was A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Started off with a relaxing scalp massage and then got one of THE BEST haircuts in my 38 years of life! I have a stubborn cowlick that she addressed and she even trimmed my caveman eyebrows LOL. Seriously though, now i'm pissed because I have yet to find a place like this in my area. Great positive energy from the owner and all the employees of this establishment.
