Hands up, I don't know Dundee's food scene at all! But, an old school friend has just moved there…read moreso we will suss it out together and share with you lovely Yelpers! Having decided on my last visit we wanted Italian, we ended up here. Great, central location in the City Square it has plenty of outside seating for sunny days. Inside is modern and fresh with private dining available (when I say private, it's just a glass partition so I use the word "private" loosely here!). The menu follows suit and has a modern Italian feel and while we browsed we were brought complimentary bread and olive oil/balsamic...3 pieces of bread...between 2 of us...grrrr this really frustrates me! Thankfully we've known each other yonks so didn't fall out over the last piece lol. I eventually opted for the Wild Mushroom & Mozzarella Arancini (fried balls of risotto, sooo tasty but sadly only two which looked a bit odd) followed by Prosciutto, Rocket & Parmesan Pizza (proper authentic base I was really surprised how good this was, would have again in a flash! And only £9.95!). Service was attentive throughout, if a little too attentive, especially when I was still eating my last piece of pizza and my plate was being cleared while asking how it was, eh hello, mouth full, can't talk right now! My numero uno pet peeve I'm afraid, just leave it a couple of more minutes, THEN clear, OK? Pet peeve aside, food was tasty and I would definitely go back next time I'm up that way :-)

Great meal and excellent service in a well presented venue. Visiting Dundee from overseas so may not make it back but would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.

After my marvelous outing to the wonderous whimsy of arctic delightery that was Discovery The Boat,…read morethe pilaried attempts of Discovery the foodery is a sorry effort. My wife (Nettie) and my cat Colleen ventured from our humble burgh of Mucklechin with some air of delight at the prospect of another outing like the one we had the previous. The establishment don't even have Hinds and Hindsey's, just a white hot food incubator (which Colleen burnt her little toes on) and a po-faced, bedraggled steet fighting servent. Our previous meal of biscuits, hotdogs and scampi was a real orgy of flavorous Thrim-Thrim-Thrim but alas, the fare here was of poor quality i myself opted for a deep fried block of Stilton, (supper) Nettie had a Half-Mock Chop (the other half wasn't joking) and Colleen had of course a deep-fried Mars Bar. My mind then changed, i quite liked the place even if it was no boat and museum of arctic wondery. U.N.T.I.L! Disaster struck! Colleen fell into the batter mixture whilst pawing Nettie's nose tassles then the absent minded food servent flash fried our poor pet. We had to take the poor mite home all encased in a crispy coating. We shall never return! May the wicked hand of justice purge thine soul of Lord Foul's Bane! Thanking! Alan T. Teasmaid

I'd like to update my review on Papa Joes, as I think the service and food has changed dramatically…read morein the past year. I went here last night for some dinner with the hubby and can safely say I wont be going back. We both had nachos, mine had chilli beef. Hubby's was fine, but sadly what usually is lovely, soft pieces of beef, was hard, grisly and inedible. When informed of my dissatisfaction, the waitress pretty much went "meh, ok" and took it away with word of an apology or replacement offered. The main courses of vegetable burrito and blackened chicken were equally hard to stomach. I think I managed one bite of mine before I reached for my coat and got the hell out of there. The herby sauce that covered the chicken did not go with the spices on the chicken at all. It left a really odd taste in the mouth afterwards too. The burrito had a really cloying, overpowering sauce with it too and wasnt the nicest. Im really sad that Papa Joes has went downhill so quickly. This used to be one of our favourite places to chill and have some not bad cuisine. It was never an amazing place to go, never blew me away, but I knew I could get some half decent grub. Now, its not even delivering that. Sadly, even the service from the waiting staff could not pick up the quality of the food as they seemed less than interested in giving a good quality of customer service. A very poor show altogether.
