I am sure that this place is amazing per the reviews that have been left but I need to share my…read morerecent experience so that it helps anyone else who might have a similar scenario with this instructor! I was SUPER excited to take the Bachata class here. In June I made several attempts to get additional information because when I registered I didnt receive confirmation that my registration took. I drove up to the studio during "business" hours and both times there was no one there. I called and no one picked up. I finally got through to the instructor via Facebook she was short and rude in her messages and I had to ask the same question multiple times before getting an answer. I was unable to attend the July session and was planning to attend the August session that happen to start in the middle of July. Unfortunately I had premade plans on the day classes started but I went to the next class only to encounter the instructor who was very rude face to face and informed me that the canceled the entire August class. I would not have known that had I not gone up there as this establishment does not believe in communicating properly and only communicates when they feel it to be convenient to them. Needless to say I was entirely bummed and I will be looking for a different studio for dance lessons. I do understand the instructors frustration, however, I hope that she understands how equally frustrating it is to be a paying customer and having to jump through hoops to get a response from her in order to attend her classes!! I wasnt going by myself we were coming in as a group and all of us experienced the same interaction with her.

Pretty disappointed. Bought a Groupon and was excited to try it out. Could not find info on when…read morethe 4 week sessions actually start online. Can't just walk I in. Called several times and emailed and no one answers. EVER. It has been months of this and still no answers and now my Groupon has expired.

Upon spending any time at the facility, it will be evident that Stage Door Studios is a well-oiled machine. The viewing area is perfect for parents & families wanting to spectate. It is ample space with comfortable seating and screens for viewing dancers working hard and having fun in each studio. There is also a thoughtful children's area with child-friendly furniture and a tv showing children's programs. Every aspect of our experience thus far seems to have been carefully curated to cater to the comfort and enhance the enjoyment of the entire family. We LOVE Stage Door!

But 3 years into dancing for one of their competitive teams, my children were kicked out of the studio with just a month left to go in the season. They were unable to perform at recital, or at their final competition, and 3 months later the studio has still not refunded the money I paid for services unrendered (summer classes, a convention, unused recital costumes etc) and they will not respond to my emails. The reason for dismissing my 1st and 4th graders? I took them to a private lesson at another studio for additional training and the owner didn't like that. Dancers as young as 5-6 years old are made to sign a contract if they want to dance at competitions with the team. Initially I didn't think much of this but by the third year (and as my second daughter was entering the youngest competition team) I started to have concerns about the stifling nature of it. Essentially, I walked into Stage Door with a 4 year old child in 2016, and before I knew it I was locked into some kind of situation where they would be penalized for even looking at other studios . (By the way, I didn't sign the contract last year but they held me to it anyway.) We stayed a couple years longer than we should have because the kids made friends and didn't want to leave them. If it weren't for that we would have left sooner. As things often do, it all worked out for the best. My girls and some of their previous teammates have found a new studio which they absolutely love and I'm confident that this new studio has their best interests at heart. I'm so excited for their future in dance and it's a relief to know they're training with adults who care about them. Stage Door is a large studio that shows well. It's big, offers a lot of class times for young kids and when you aren't yet enmeshed in the dance world you don't see the red flags. I certainly didn't. My advice, if you're looking for a dance studio, is to sit down with the studio owner and really find out what they're all about. Ask questions. Talk to parents of older kids. Talk to the studio owner at length. I probably talked to the studio owner at Stage Door for less than 20 minutes combined in 6 years. At our new studio, I've talked to the studio owner for hours on end and we've only been there a few months. It's night and day. Just do your homework.

I set out on a journey to learn Salsa exactly 2 years ago…read more My first lesson learned: If you want to learn salsa, you have to go to a salsa school. Don't go to a ballroom dancing studio to learn salsa. It's not real salsa, and they'll pressure you pretty hard to learn ballroom even though you just want to learn salsa. Ballroom studios will try to get hundreds of dollars from you for a couple of weeks of lessons. You should never pay more than $15 for a group class from a salsa school. With groupons, introductory classes are about $8 or less per class. Two months later and $600 burnt, I luckily find Salsa Caliente. Erika and her staff jump start the beginner class by teaching dancing technique. First we learn about "tension" which in my opinion is the most important lesson in Salsa. Tension is the foundation of lead and follow technique. With it, you can lead the follower through a salsa pattern without her knowing the pattern. It also help you conserve energy so you can dance longer. For example, instead of stepping out a turn, you can use the rubber band effect from each other's arms to sling shot you around super fast. Using tension, you can do this turn all day long. If you stepped the turn out, you'd be tired in about 5 turns. Next we learn the NY Salsa standard patterns and shines. I never knew how exceptional their teaching and expertise was until I went to my first Salsa Congress in Orlando last summer. A congress is a dance convention where all the serious and expert dancers gather. With my dance foundation from Salsa Caliente, I was able to learn the advanced partner and shine routines faster than most people in the Congress Workshops, because their routines were built by chaining up Salsa Caliente standard patterns and shines. In one of the workshops with about 40 intermediate/advanced dancers, the instructor asked us to do a "basic" (the standard steps for salsa). He immediately pointed to me and said I was the only one doing it correctly. Why? Because Erika teaches us that we should be moving back and forth with a smooth walking motion, and not a "step step STOP, step step STOP" motion. Is this a gauge of how great Salsa Caliente is? In my opinion it is. Am I a great dancer? No, but I'm probably as good as I can be. Am I good enough to show most girls in my arms a great time while dancing? HECK YEAAAAA !!!!!!! That's why I give Salsa Caliente 5 Stars :-)

Hands down the best class I've taken. Very good attention to detail and perfecting your style no…read morematter what level you are. I highly recommend this studio and its instructors.
