Gorgeous spot with some tasty (but pricey) bites! Located right in downtown wayzata and overlooking…read morelake Minnetonka, this is a stunning spot for a nice dinner out! Our service was great and our waitress was really knowledgeable. I really enjoyed all of the food we got but was disappointed in the size/amount of pieces in the king grab sushi roll for $28. Two of the pieces fell apart almost instantly after being picked up with chopsticks and the pieces of crab on the side were tiny! The rolls were good but for the price and amount of crab on the roll I couldn't justify ordering it again. The corn esquites side dish was incredible and I even ordered one to go for my husband to try! I would come back for this dish alone. The crispy rice and spicy tuna was tasty as well. Overall it's a gorgeous spot with good food and drinks but pretty expensive for portion sizes.

We ordered A LOT of dishes to share (see pics). I personally don't eat beef/porks/seafood but from what I did try the truffle edamame was good. They have a more of a bar food menu for HH but you can only order at the bar. We were able to slide in an order of fries. The space is nice but the menu was maybe too far out of my taste range (as a picky eater). They have a bit of a Japanese-Mexican fusion which is interesting. There used to be a place with this concept off of 394 by ridgedale mall (now it's an olive garden) but I wondered if this was the same place however this place is more upscale.

Making a reservation was super easy and the inside ambiance is so intimate. I came for a date night, but I could totally see a really fun girls night out here. I read some reviews before ordering and the reviews for food recs were spot on! The Parker Rolls were so delicious - a pretzel roll with 3 creamy butter options. And there was plenty of butter so you don't run out of it before you finish your rolls (big win!). I got the sweet corn cavatelli and my hubs got the lamb shoulder. Both were really yummy. I love that the cavatelli has a little spice to it as it really elevated that flavor profile. Definitely will be back! Really loved the experience and will stop by for post-dinner drinks sometime :)

I was pleasantly surprised at the unique menu though, definitely more up scale and worth the try. I will start with the biggest complaint and its one I have with so many area restaurants - the wine. They have what is likely the worst selection of wine. Its nice they feature bottles you don't normally see but they are all 3.8 or lower rated - many sub $20. For a place with this much potential the wine list should match the food or it all falls flat. We were kicking ourselves for not bringing our own, its really the only way with 99% of places. I was truly surprised at how horrible the selection was. Also, how many times must a place understand that wine should be chilled. Nothing worse than a warm Pinot. If you can't afford a simple chiller you shouldn't pretend you are striving to be something you are not. Cocktails were a nice surprise though. Unique and tasty. Also they had a couple beers on tap and at least not all were IPAs which is another mistake so many places make. Some interesting apps that were good. You could make a whole meal out of sharing apps. Wish we had. I had the stake frites and it was fatty and gross. Not at all as the pictures show. Probably 60% of the meat was inedible. The fries were good. Nobody finished their meal though I didn't hear super hard complaints. Just meh. I tasted a couple of the pastas and all seemed to fall a bit flat. I was left wishing I'd gotten that lobster roll but thinking it too would have not matched the photo. We might go back. We will bring our own wine.

It's always nice to be surprised…read more I was headed to a 30th birthday for a friend, and almost made the unforgivable mistake of not bringing something to keep the VIP in a VGM (Very Good Mood). So when I pulled into the lot, I wasn't expecting too much. Just a normal liquor store. Well, hold on to your hats boys and girls, because Eden Prairie Liquor is not normal. First off, it feels... safe? Clean? Classy? I'm not sure what the word is, but the key thing is you don't get that gross, shady feeling that normally hovers in the back of your mind when you go to most liquor stores. Like, if Eden Prairie Liquor had a couch, I'd be tempted to sit there and mooch their wifi for a while. It's just a nice atmosphere. Which is a bit odd for a liquor store. The beer selection is insane. You can get single bottles and tall boys of almost any beer you can imagine, and I created a custom 6-pack for my buddy who is a huge beer snob. I managed to find beers that he'd never heard of before, but loved. If you knew him, you know that's like saying "I found 6 things about stars Neil deGrasse Tyson didn't know". It was a huge hit, and he begged me to tell him where I found this treasure trove. I didn't, of course. But I'm telling you! Just keep this between us, ok? And the prices were very good, too. In line with the big "discount" beer and wine shops around town.

Fortunately, when you drop by Glen Lake Wine and Spirits, it doesn't matter how well versed you are on wines. This little shop has a great wine section - many, many different bottles of vino in varying price ranges. Don't fret, you tennis playing MInnetonka housewives, there's plenty of good vodka, too! The employees at Glen Lake Wine and Spirits are really helpful - recently, I walked in and said, "Hey, I'm going to mull some wine, so I want something cheap, dry, and with a good flavor." The guy behind the counter took me to a $6 bottle and said, "This is your wine." Seriously, it happened just like that. And you know what? It was perfect! Protip: When you're browsing the wine section, look for the tags under the bottles that have the employee faces on them. They're usually priced very well - often on sale - and are really well-described. (e.g. "Figgy taste, smooth finish, pairs well with steak.") These folks have the knowledge to be wine snobs, but they're not. They're just as comfortable telling you about the wide variety of local microbrews that they carry, the strange and exotic vodkas (today I saw a buttered popcorn flavored variety!) and the many other alcohols that they carry. Best yet, you're not going to go broke here. Nothing is over-priced. It's inexpensive, reasonable, and great customer service is always included. What more would you want?
