I wish my review was based off of actually trying this place (which I was very eager to) but unfortunately we didn't even get seated. My husband and I were out celebrating our anniversary and were told it is a 5-10 min wait, we said "no problem, we'll wait" Within 20 minutes the waiter sat two different groups that walked in after us, offering to join two small tables to accommodate each group. DO NOT PATRONIZE this establishment unless you're looking for a hefty serving of attitude with a side of disappointment. Walking in on a Friday night around 7 pm we found 3 tables with customers and 1 person sitting at one of the 6 seats at the bar. We asked the host, Weston or Winston, if we could sit at the bar and he stated that the bar was reserved for the evening. No problem...we will take what you have. We were seated at a two top next to the bar and ordered some drinks. Over the next 30 to 45 minutes we watched everyone coming in get seated at tables, leaving the single dude at the bar, alone. Then a couple came in and asked to be seated, they were offered a large 5 top or seats at the bar, they took the bar. I was curious as they did not portray themselves as those reserving the bar so I asked Weston / Winston how one might be able to "reserve" a seat at the bar in the future. His response was that they were reserved for regulars, or for those with something called a "challenge coin". More curiosity... as the last two people seated at the bar did not at all appear to be regulars, nor did they hand over any coins. I asked Weston / Winston how they came to sit at the bar and he said they had filled up and it was the only place to put them. Interesting. When I told Weston / Winston, a short, dark haired, tidy little man with glasses who was full of himself and unnecessary attitude that I found their procedures hard to swallow as a customer. He sassed back with "Well, we are all entitled to our opinions" before he marched off like a bubble gum smacking teenage mean girl. Well yes, we are entitled to our opinions and my opinion, along with the opinions of many others on Yelp, is that your procedures and your employees attitudes need some attention. You are working in a SERVICE industry...please tell me how your attitude and treatment of customers yields gratuities! From a customer service standpoint, this exchange could have and should have been handled in any number of different ways. If Weston / Winston is somehow the owner of this place then okay, good luck with your business model. If he is an employee, then the owners need to take note and realize that he is an extreme detriment to your establishment. The numerous 1-star reviews and lack of responses to these postings shows that the owner(s) or management could care less about the experience they provide or how their patrons are treated. Finally, you are in Santa Fe... not New York...Your cocktails are WAY TOO expensive ($45.00 for 2 drinks), not very creative and frankly, suck! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Santa Fe is full of other cocktail bars that provide a better customer experience and MUCH better cocktails. read more

I'm only giving two stars instead of one because the waiter was attentive. The drink was $20 and the small glass wasn't even full!? Liquid wasn't even covering the glass of ice we received!? I've never seen anything like this. We sent them back and the waiter said the bartender said it wasn't a mistake. The bartender came and took the drinks away when he saw us taking pictures and told us we didn't need to pay for them. He wasn't happy and said there was 7oz in there. Good place for a drink if you like sitting in the dark. They SAY they open at 330, but didn't until 6. They only have ONE burger as an entree, but yet such a fancy place oh and no live music. Our server was extremely rude to my friends and I, I was showing them a video on my phone and he came by and told us to "be quiet" (mind you the terrible jazz music in there was blaring and we could barely even hear each other). The server guy got a kick out of telling us to shut up he was at the bar pointing at us and telling the bar staff who knows what and it made us feel extremely uncomfortable as three women) Do not support this place, according to the reviews this is quite typical behavior. Went here while visiting Santa Fe. Not too many bars open late in the area, but tonic was a great option! We got a couple drinks and tried some of the small plates. Bartenders made good drinks, and there was wonderful love music. And we were pleasantly by the quality of the food. Delicious and served hot. Did not know what to expect. Super low key outside. Sort of sleekeasy (intended). The vibe is chill, conversation level, and live band that doesn't overwhelm the cute bar area with high ceilings. Very entertaining and accommodating. Our waitress had a lot of tips to offer, as far as making our trip memorable and ensuring that our drinks fit our experience. Definitely recommend after midnight when since Santa Fe becomes a sleepy town so early. read more

Would absolutely not recommend. Nice staff and mellow, quiet environment. However, the cocktails are both overly-priced and of poor quality. Their on-menu drinks are simply terrible -- lots of weird takes on classic cocktails that simply do not work. Tried the on-menu Italian Lace, which was served with dried lavender on a lemon peel -- it looked like a moldy lemon, and the lavender dropped into the drink turning into a gritty nasty muck of a drink. It started out with an off-putting, overly herbaceous taste and quickly turned into an undrinkable mess. Went off menu and tried a vieux carre and a Manhattan. The vieux carrre was passable but off-balanced, not exactly sure what they used as the principal spirits, but it was not good. The Manhattan was a whopping $18 and really quite terrible -- I've had better at hotel bars with months-old vermouth. Would love to see this place succeed, as the environment is truly great -- but it absolutely needs a new menu, new bartenders, and/or more reasonable prices. I'm willing to pay $18 for a cocktail, but not one this terrible. read more

We are so happy they are back open after being close with Covid. Tonic is one of our go-to spots in the plaza. They are pricey (about $15/drink) for sure, but it is a great experience to enjoy. The bar staff are knowledgable and friendly, making drinks on the fly for custom preferences. The interior is small, but it makes it feet cozy. It has an art deco theme that creates a pseudo Hollywood-style experience. Walking in off the plaza is like walking into another world. What fun! read more

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. We walked out due to AWFUL SERVICE ON A DEAD NIGHT. There were two couples in the bar and for 20 minutes, my group was ignored, then ID harassed, and completely unsatisfied with the service we were provided. I don't expect someone to kiss the ground I walk on, but when I walk into an establishment prepared to spend money on food and drinks, the very least you can do is greet me. The least you can do is acknowledge me. The least you can do is give a damn about the money I was prepared to spend. There was easily a $200-$300 bill from my party before tips are even calculated in. As a business, the fact you are so able to allow that kind of business to walk out due to ignoring, harassment, and plain disrespect is amazing. Should you somehow be able to stay in business, all the best to you and your garbage establishment. To all tourists that have read this and are still looking for better places to go downtown in Santa Fe, I highly recommend literally ANY other bar in downtown.
