Kim really gets this, though. He studies your face, he cares that your hair works with it, he gives you advice. Then he cranks his music up and he goes for it. His cutting-style is like some crazy piece of performance art but, somehow, it totally works. This is literally the first time in my life that I've ever been 100% happy with a haircut from a salon. I don't even need to use any products (and he doesn't use any products when he cuts). I've had like fifty compliments in two days. I can't recommend him highly enough - I'm moving a really long way away next year, and I am already trying to figure out how I can factor in a trip back to Brussels on a regular enough basis to keep him as my hairdresser. Being able to communicate with the stylist is a basic priority for me, obviously. And my French vocabulary does not include words like "layers" or "highlights". I made an appointment easily and resigned myself to the fact that I would possibly have to sport a ponytail for awhile if it went badly. My hairdresser was Hugo-I was happy to discover he spoke perfect English. After being taken downstairs for a hair wash/condition and sitting in a massage chair, Hugo went to work. He needed very minimal direction from me. I was worried he wouldn't know how to cut my hair as it's thick and wavy/curly but he did a very good job. I was very happy with the end results-he listened to exactly what I wanted and I think this may have been one of the best haircuts I have ever had, including from the USA. It's a bit pricey but it was worth it to me. They only take cash so be sure to bring euros. I wish they were in California so I could go back!

The third time Sebastian proceeded to applying his "special technique" to give my hair volume without explaining that meant cutting my hair unevenly in the deeper layers and that it would make my hair curl in an unmanageable way. He also cut it more than 10 cm shorter than what I thought we had agreed. I really do not recommend Blow. For a premium fee, you'll be offered the latest cut everyone has and no particular insights into what cuts suit your hair type.

Second time I went I had the same hairdresser, and had exactly the same thing done as the week before, but was charged 24 Euro at the end; I didn't ask, because 1 Euro difference is not a big deal, but clearly the lady remembered me from the week before, because she said "it is because you have long hair". Still fine. Not even a full week after that I went again for another blow-dry. Only this time, I was charged 33 Euro! When I enquired why there was a 9-10 Euro difference this time she just said "it is because you have long hair". I explained that my hair was still the same length as the last two weeks (which is a little bit longer than shoulder length - so not extremely long!), and reminded her what I paid then, she acted as if she did not remember me coming in and pointed to the pricing on the door. Now, all three times I was with the same hairdresser, and all the times I went I was the only client in the salon (already a bad sign I suppose!). I did not believe her not remembering me. I gave her the 33 Euros, but I told her that this was not okay, and she should have informed me in advance that there would be such a steep price difference this time. Only then (!) she replied that it was because last time her boss (who was not present that time) saw how much she charged me and told her I need to pay more because of the length of my hair. If it were up to her, I would pay 23 Euros. So if you go there, ALWAYS arrange a price beforehand. Although I thoroughly recommend you go to one of the other salons nearby, and AVOID DE ANGELIS altogether. Shady Pricing, rude employees - NOT WORTH IT!
