You couldn't find a more knowledgable guide around the Tomoka.....because he's spent so much of his life among the reeds, watching Mother Nature making her changes. He has made sense of how a waterway evolves and what we as bystanders can do to give it a break. He had amazing stories and we enjoyed every bit of our tour. Well done!!! read more

Super cute outpost! Highly recommend the peanut brittle My husband and I went kayaking on the Tomoka river it was amazing! Sadly we didn't see too much wild life but that's all the reason to come back. The staff were also very nice and helpful with explaining the tides to us! read more

The owners Scott and Ashley have done a great job creating a cool place to shop for essentials and non essentials. It's a place to just hang out and enjoy the natural beauty of the their brewery type atmosphere at the park. Scott and Ashley are locals and know the area well, in case you want to eat out or go to a local store . The store has several types of boiled peanuts, snacks, canned beer and pre poured wine in disposable plastic wine glass (like canned wine). The store usually closes around 5pm each day I think. They offer kayak rentals. It definitely made our stay more enjoyable to stop by and see the nice water view from the store . Thanks Scott and Ashley! read more

We visited Ormond Beach a couple years ago and never made it to this location to kayak so it was a must do on this trip. There is a $5 entrance fee to get into the park to get to this location. There were plenty of signs that helped us find our way and plenty of parking when we arrived. We easily checked out our kayaks and were given instruction on the best way to navigate the water during our hour rental period. The tide was going out so there was a bit of a current so keep that in mind depending on what time of day you visit. It was a quiet, serene place and we would definitely go back again the next time we are in town. read more

Great store in a great park. We just came for a short day trip, but I can see that camping here would be great. The service at the store was prompt as we rented kayaks and the bathrooms clean and nice. I dinged it a star because we were disappointed in the kayaks. The single ones have flimsy seats and no where to prop your feet, so there are really uncomfortable after a while. read more

This is just what this state park needs. The outpost has all your camping needs from snacks, cold drinks, camping gear/accessories, fishing tackle, bait, and even items you didn't know you need like scented candles, stickers, magnets, and drums just to name a few. The outpost also offers rentals like fishing poles, kayaks, canoes, and other recreational activities on and off the amazing water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All you have to do is ask. The prices for everything is fair and well below what you would normally see charged at a camping store on location. It was quite refreshing knowing I was not going to spend an arm and leg just to get some sweets and drinks. read more

Straight to the point. Great little store with local draft beer, good selection of "stuff", and run by extremely nice people! If you need to explore by boat, hire Captain Scott Cornelius (Cpt. Corn). Four of us had a great time fishing, exploring, and shooting the breeze. Next time we're at Tamoka camping, we need to spend more time on the deck watching the sunset. The Tomoka Trading Post is a store located within Tomoka State Park. While we were camping at the park we visited the store several times. They rent boats (canoes and kayaks, I think). They also sell firewood, snacks, and whatever you may have forgotten at home. Prices were very fair, considering they have pretty captive market. Your closest option is to leave the park and drive to Publix. There were a couple things that really made this store stand out: 1. Fresh Baked Cookies. And not just any ordinary cookies, these were hand-delivered by a nice older lady, fresh from her oven. Like, real homemade cookies. Does it get any better than that? 2. Live entertainment! Yes, the employees double as talented musicians and actors, who would have guessed? On Friday and Saturday evenings they have performances in the shop. While we were there it was a Halloween show, complete with a chilling recitation of The Raven. They mentioned they will have a Christmas show coming up next. Of all the places we have gone camping, this is by far the best park store we have ever encountered. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We loved it. The only compliant I had was that we bought firewood from the store on our second day, and it wouldn't burn for anything. The firewood we bought at Publix and brought in with us for the first night was much better. But who needs a campfire when you can sit in a nice shop and have free entertainment anyway, right? read more

Great customer service that made me feel welcome and fully prepared for my kayak ride. The guide showed me exactly where to go to take advantage of the two hours we planned to be on the water. We even got a big sponge that came in handy when we got hit my some wake when pulled over on a shore. Topped the morning off with some ice cream they sold and it made for a great day. read more

Located within Tomoka State Park, Kayaks of Flager Beach rents river and sea, 1 and 2 person Kayaks and canoes. You can launch from the park and take a lazy trip up the Tomoka River exploring the intercoastal waterway weaving through tidal creeks and marshes and seeing numerous birds: colorful wood warblers, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, northern harriers,egrets, herons, wood stork and white ibis. If you're really lucky and the season is right (fall through spring) you might just spot a West Indian manatee nature's cuddly but dumb sea cow. You can also fish from your Kayak if that's your thing, they'll rent you a pole if you don't have one. Also they'll be happy to deliver a kayak to the destination of your choice with advance notice. Kayaks of Flagler Beach have come to help me appreciate Florida more so then I ever thought I would. When you get down to the level of water you realize there is more to Florida then pedos and meth mouth. read more

I have been to quite a few state parks and have seen my share of stores and concessions at them, and my standards are usually lowered, they are usually places to grab a quick soda or charcoal. The exception is the Tomoka Outpost. It is an impressive, rustic outpost overlooking the boat ramp and creek. It offers a nice selection of merchandise and after a few hours of paddling in the summer heat a locally produced draft beer hit the spot and it's airconditioned. The staff was exceptional and assisted me with by answering questions I had about the area. Great place. read more

This is the place to get your Canoe and Kayak rentals for the best price in the area. The staff has always been helpful for my daughter and her friends if you need a hand caring it to the water. They also have beer and wine for after the exercising. Needed when you are bringing teenagers along. This is a great starting point if you want to go into the Tamoka Basin and even the intercostal. you can also stay in calm water with the many back water cut throughs to what will feel like ancient untouched Florida. read more

Nice little store inside the state park. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a few cold adult beverages and some Cajun boiled peanuts while our kids enjoyed Schmancy Pops. We didn't rent a kayak or canoe as it was a quick little visit to get out of the house/make sure it would be Covid safe for future visits and it was safe! Hand sanitizer right as you walk in and plenty of outside tables and chairs that are spread out for social distancing. We felt safe while our son explored nearby and we relaxed and enjoyed the view. read more

The owners were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Excellent customer service! They had a good turn around time sanitizing the canoe and gear (COVID protocol) between rentals. It was very busy, but they called us when a vessel was available and managed to help us get our little one to experience his first canoe ride. It was such a fun and easy experience. Not only is this one of the only areas near Jacksonville that offers canoe rentals (rather than just kayaks) and it was very fairly priced. The Outpost has you covered for all of your needs and snacks as well. The area is beautiful. It is highly recommended and a perfect destination whether for a getaway, day trip, afternoon adventure, spring break vacation, family outing, or weekend excursion. We were staying at a hotel nearby but went to rent a canoe at the state park. The canoe rental was cheaper here than at Blue Spring and Juniper Springs. Billy was super helpful in getting the boats on the water and our paddles in hand. We stuck around for the Christmas show put on by Billy and his wife Daní. The show was super creative and just plain fabulous. The store was packed the day after Christmas from 7-70 in age and everyone had a good time. Can't say enough about this place! read more
