Cool shop with a great selection of rock shirts, records, and an assortment of other knock knacks. The shop is small, but clean organized and service was friendly and done with smile. Definitely worth the stop if you're into vinyl.

This a gem of a music/memorabilia/instrument store tucked into an corner of a arcade below the Connor Hotel in Jerome Az. Guitars, acoustic and electric, some signed collectors items, ukuleles, banjos, mandolins, harmonicas, accessories, LPs and CDs, posters, Beatles jigsaw puzzles, Stratocaster beer glasses, PVC plumbing pieces signed by The Tubes, the list goes on and on. A great selection of CDs from local artists, including music store owner Tommy Anderson. Don't forget to pick up a set of air guitar strings.

Did I mention TIE DYE UKELELES?!?!

Tommy Rocks is a hidden gem in an already awesome and quirky town. Whether you are looking for guitar strings, a tie dye ukelele or a rare vintage LP suitable for framing, Tommy Rocks has you covered. Even if you aren't a musician yourself, it is worth the trip down the stairs to the historic New State building to search out this tiny shop and the ever entertaining and super knowledgeable owner, Tommy Anderson. You may even get lucky and Mr. Anderson or any number of guest musicians may strum a tune for you as you browse! No visit to Jerome is complete without a stop at Tommy Rocks!

Much to my surprise awhile later I received a call from Tommy Anderson (the store owner).

Both employees insisted they were. I pushed back, explaining that guitars under $1,000--like these $699 models--rarely have solid wood throughout, and asked for proof. The grey-bearded man-boy barked 'Yeah, they are!' in a smug, puffed-up tone, like he'd just solved the mystery of life. The other employee, who was kind and actually helpful, pulled up Alvarez's website. It showed the top as solid spruce but listed the back and sides as just 'African mahogany'--no 'solid' in sight. As he read this out loud, the grey-bearded man-boy, strutting out for a cigarette, tossed back a sarcastic 'That's weird,' thinking he'd scored a win and shown me up, his little brain buzzing with misplaced triumph. The helpful guy then called an Alvarez rep, who confirmed these $699 guitars have laminate back and sides--not solid. 'African mahogany' is just a slick marketing trick to dodge saying 'laminate.' The grey-bearded man-boy wandered back in, heard the rep set the record straight, and--surprise--said nothing. No apology, no hint he'd registered his blunder, just blank-faced denial. This place employs a clown who can't tell laminate from solid wood, struts around like he's a genius, and folds like a cheap lawn chair when proven wrong. I'm out--spend your cash where the staff have a clue and don't act like overgrown toddlers playing expert.
