Located in a spot on Salcedo Village that is increasingly becoming hipper by the day, The Cut carries a lot of exclusive and limited release stuff, stuff you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. They carry shoes, shirts, bags, wallets, cufflinks, hair care products, socks, tobacco, handkerchiefs, and everything in between. The items have been "curated" to bring out your inner swag and differentiate you from the heathens wearing those China knock-offs they bought from 168. Yes, the prices here are a bit on the high side, but that is a paltry price to pay for being the most well-dressed man in Manila. Man up, man. While you're here, you might as well go up the mezzanine and check out Felipe and Sons, the parent company of The Cut, where you can get a proper shave and cut, and probably get a suit tailored for you as well. Because that's how real men roll.

After learning about it, we go there every time were at this mall. Fashion Market is split into 2 sides on the mall - the left and the right. I suggest going through all stores. It can take hours though, haha, but you won't regret it. They have every style and trend you'd typically see on Tumblr, fashion blogs, Youtube beauty channels and fashion week! Inside, you'll also find spas, salons, money changers and ATM's. The prices range from super inexpensive to normal clothing price rates. A lot of stores sell super hip shoes, clothes, hats, shades and even prom dresses and traditional Filipino costumes. Definitely check out these stores I frequent when you're there - (right side) Push Thru, Mastermind Chase and Muradito, (left side) Nava, Berca and Ballow. Happy shopping! :)

The idea that men can also be fussy and sartorial about their fashion choices says a lot about how our attitude towards dressing up has changed, with many of the boys having a renewed interest in classic and timeless pieces that just set one apart from the crowd. It doesn't have to be anything striking - the fact that you are dressed in quality clothes that fit well already make you a standout in a city where people go for functionality over aesthetics. Boys can be "maarte" too, and in a good way. That just goes to show that we value self-branding and presentation now as much as the girls do. Shops like Signet in Legazpi Village will pave the way to a more fashion forward Manila. This multi-brand store carries a number of different brands and styles for the modern gentleman. If you like to splurge a little on a few basics, such as a pair of body-hugging Selvedge jeans, or really cool socks to match your power suit, or even fun every day footwear that highlight both comfort and looks, Signet has imported brands that must be in every man's closet. Looking for that Picasso-esque Breton tee for an effortlessly fashionable look? Signet has different brands that have a great fit for every body type. The overall aesthetic is gunning for a strong homage to vintage and classic styles that give the modern gentleman such a polished, refined and nonchalantly classy look. Savoir faire at quite a price, but it's all worth it. I chanced upon this store because I was intrigued by the really classy facade. I love the window display - simple yet elegant. I was waiting for a meeting so I went inside and had a chat with Kevin, one of the shopkeepers. He is very well-versed about his brands and he also gave me a few recommendations as to what brands will suit my lifestyle better. Their store is all about investment pieces that will age well, and though I'm not in a hurry to part with my hard-earned cash even for really nice clothes, it's nice to know that I now know where to shop.

I have a problem with most store's sizing charts because they run notoriously small or they are too big and loose in some areas. One store that I keep coming back to for that perfect off-the-rack sizing (at least for me) is Flying Dutchman Shoes. I have always been a big fan even from their The Collective days. I have seen the brand grow from being the owners' thesis project, to a bazaar mainstay to their first store in Malugay, and now, their very nice and cozy store in Blue Bay Walk. The store's visual merchandising is on point: I love the decor, the interior design elements and the color story of their furnishings. Everything seems to be designed with the modern sartorial man's sensibilities in mind. I put little effort into the clothes that I wear, and so I appreciate The Flying Dutchman for their fun and functional pieces that spice up my hopeless wardrobe. The prizes are not too inflated, and I love how everything is well within my range (I don't bother with super expensive clothes and shoes, and as a guy, they are already expensive enough). I also absolutely adore their leather goods. I have several pairs of their topsiders and boat shoes. Their leather slip-ons go with any outfit, and they are cheap enough that I plan to get a number of different colors and styles to go with my clothes.

Hahaha. I loved the polo on him, though. It was quirky but not outlandish. So I asked him where he got it and he said he'll just take me there one day. That day came. And bless the hipster gods because this place is GOLDEN. At Flying Dutchman, you can see collections of printed buttoned down polos, colored shorts, summer tank tops, rucksack backpacks and crisp leather boat shoes - all at very reasonable prices. When I scoured the shop, I almost went crazy seeing all these super rad prints on men's pieces! I was flipping out! The more I scoured the men's section, the more depressed I got that they weren't exactly done for females. And then lo and behold, Flying Dutchman's counterpart. The Flying Duchess is their female line counterpart which carries skirts, tank tops and casual dresses. The store is perfect if you're looking for summer casual-themed clothes. Or if you're just a print-aholic, this store should be on your top list of shopping haunts. What i liked about this store is they offer unique, trendy and hip designs as part of their collection.. They only produce designs in limited quantities to make sure that you don't bump with someone wearing the same clothes, and that is something I absolutely love. Price range for their clothes is between 600 (Tanktops) to 950 (Buttoned Down polos) while rucksack bags are priced at 1,100 and leather boat shoes from 1800 - 2500 (very reasonable indeed). The store has a very laid back ambiance and as you enter, chill & relaxing music will welcome you.Perfect for that hipster vibe that you are looking for. Can't wait to go back and check on their new collections!

Since then they have a long and successful history. And today they can be found in SM Aura on level 2 as well. I love T.M. At T.M. Lewin, size comes first. So e.g. when you are 17/34 you just go to that section and then all the shirts that fit you are there. Easy and effective! They do quite a bit of funky shirts which make you stand out a bit more compared to the white/blue/grey shirts in the office. Most Asian brands' sizes are too darn small, and more often than not, the foreign brands that do carry my size are either too darn expensive, or have limited styles. Jeans especially are a pain to find, being limited to stretch and slim or skinny cuts. This is why it was such a joy to find Jail Jeans. They have ready-to-wear stocks and can customize jeans as well. They proudly use raw demin, which as I have learned, is way better than buying washed denim. The difference? Washed denim is already pre-stretched, which means that the denim is not it it's natural flow or "bagsak". Also, the process of washing or bleaching is also very harmful to the environment. Whereas raw denim, the more you wear it, will take your body as mold. It sounds odd, but those who have had the luxury of owning a pair swear by it. The quality is just impeccable! The owner, designer Chris Jasler, is usually at the store to recommend what would fit your body shape well, so it also makes it a lot easier for those who can get a bit confused with fitting raw denim for the first time. Plus, it's not just jeans they make. They also have their own line of shirts, jackets, accessories, even shoes! Not yet convinced? Well, stars like Leo Valdes and Martin Nievera swear by it. Heck, even foreign DJ Nic Fanciulli bought a suit from Jail Jeans. Is that enough?

Their knack for putting together a stable of brands both compelling and quaint resulted in Manila's best place for menswear's brightest talents: Ami, the eponymous label of Alexandre Mattiusi; Over All Master Cloth, from former Supreme and Carhartt contributors; Folk, British purveyors of easygoing casual wear; and APC, a veritable Kanye favorite. The yellow and white interior offers a playful space to browse their selection of Kitsune sweats, though the store's location on SM Aura's ground floor--notorious for being noisy and crowded--seems rather out of place. On the other hand, anyone with a keen eye will be drawn to this menswear oasis and will shut out everything other than the clothes. Yes, we went here the morning of Chinese New Year! There were so many people! The shop will be right in front of a Barong and Jusi shop. The reason why we went all the way to this shop (honestly, this section of Binondo is the fabrics and textiles area) is because Carlo's brother bought his fabrics for his wedding at this same shop. So, of course, we expected discounts! The fabrics here are of very good quality and, from what the owner told us, is sourced from the "original" fabric warehouses. Not sure if that's true but, I felt the quality in the fabrics he showed us. Note: we made the mistake of saying that we were making a suit for the groom. The fabric price for a groom's suit to a normal suit is way higher. We did get a discount but, seriously the same fabric was Php200 less when you say it's a normal suit.
