We tried four different cupcakes, and split each in quarters so we could try them all. I don't know…read moreif I could pick a favorite, but the lemon blueberry stood out. All the cupcakes were moist, and a great flavor; too often when you visit bakeries they have frozen the cupcakes and I can always taste that. These were fresh! I love that they chose a downtown location in a historic building and left the safe in the wall. They store the cake boxes in the old safe and it is visible behind the counter which lends character to the atmosphere. This is a candy lovers dream store. Lots of candy gifts ideas.

We got a German chocolate cupcake, which is chocolate cupcake with caramel and coconut-pecan frosting. It was big enough for two people, for sure. The Cookie Monster cupcakes were cute, and there were also cupcakes that looked like sundaes, plus a lot of other flavors, like strawberry cream, pina colada, cherry, M&M and others. Along with cupcakes, you'll also find ice cream, pie and cake slices, cookies, bulk candy, and a whole two walls full of packaged candy, including old fashioned candy like Pez, Chuckles, wax lips and other novelty sweets. This is a sweet and charming little store for all things sweet, located in a vintage-looking building. Parking is on the street or in the small free parking lot a short ways away.

The lady behind the counter was super helpful about what each item is, how it's made and the price. She was super sweet and also let me try a piece of their original cake donuts. We ended up getting "a slice of heaven" which is somewhat like a donut. It's a big breaded square with powdered sugar sifted on top, my boo got a fudge bark, which was surprisingly good, it wasn't thick like actual fudge and it wasn't too rich or chocolatey it was lowkey perfect boo ate it in 3 bites lol. Then lastly we got a cinnamon crunch which is also known as the elephant ear. I loved the cinnamon crunch too it was a pretty big size shareable for two. It was super thin, I do wish it was a little bit more puffy so it's not like toooo crunchy but the flavor was there. 10/10 will definitely be back for more goodies

However, the initial experience felt a bit unwelcoming. I wasn't greeted by the lady behind the counter, a gentleman entering from another door was. As I browsed the selection, a young man helpfully explained what the "uglies" were--old-fashioned donuts with an irregular shape. We decided to try the peach and cream pączki, a traditional Polish donut, but at $3.50, it felt quite steep, especially when compared to a regular jam-filled donut for under $2. Unfortunately, the pączki was a bit dry, and the filling was sparse. That said, we're still glad we gave it a try. Just a heads-up for those planning to visit--there's a $5 minimum for credit card purchases.
