The park its self is pretty large to walk around on which is nice, we came here with our 4 dogs who need to be in water in order to hike because they get so hot. We thought this would be perfect to hangout by for a few hours, half of the trail is covered in muck ( seems like it's been flooded for a while as there's algae growing) so we had to walk through the weeds on a detour trail that was made by other people. Then we got to the water and it seemed perfect, got up closer and it's complete muck, seems like a mud hole. Let the dogs swim and the water was terrible and disgusting. I would only return if we came without dogs.. kind of disappointed in the upkeep of the park and the lake

Respectfully no. The grass is overgrown and the pond is covered in algae. I would not bring kids or dogs here for swimming. I gave it an extra star because the trail leading to the pond is very green and shaded, but there is a lot of dog poop along the way.

This park was surprisingly really nice. I didn't expect it to look like the pictures because it hadn't rained in a long time but the view was stunning. This park is probably one of the more lively parks we've been too, tons of people and hard to social distance on the trails but shockingly everyone had a mask on. The best part is the huge dog park they have, which we loved. It's full of fun toys, activity areas, and it was fully stocked with poop bags if you forgot them. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of five is because sadly, we focused a lot of time on making sure our dogs and ourselves didn't step in poop. They provide you with the resources to clean but a lot of people don't. Even on the trail there was lots of poop in the middle of it but overall it's really pretty and an easy walk, the entire thing was paved unless you go near the water.

We had heard about this park from a few friends so made the drive out. Was kinda disappointed because the front area of the park is barren. We made it to the lake which was small and nice though there was trash all over the place. I would come back if the park were more well kept.

Good lease free dog park that has both a large and small dog area complete with covered sitting areas for humans to get some shade. Washing area with trails to walk the dogs and is located next to a park for kids. However, the maintenance of the area is not kept-up. The benches are warped and grass unkept.

My dog was so happy throughout this whole experience. He's a five year old Siberian husky and didn't really get out much since me and my family lived in Miami until summer of 20222. Well I grew up in Miami so you don't really get out much especially as a pet. He was very content. Hopefully I will take him again. He made a lot of friends and he's not aggressive whatsoever so he played a lot. He got so tired to the point that he fell asleep right after.

It was hot and the Water fountains didn't work- but my dog had a great time. Could use a little more shady spots.

Is there a fenced in area for the dog park?

Yes ! There are two areas, one is larger with lots of room. The other area is for smaller dogs.

Nothing at all wrong with that, it's just not my demographic at all. There IS a pretty killer looking skateboard park on the corner - awesome but, again, not what I specifically am looking for in an outdoor entertainment venue. And a newly "opened" off-leash dog park (and those ARE a primary draw for me) - every time I've saddled up AdventureHound and headed over to check out the DP, though, it's been either not yet permanently open; or big-picture open but temporarily closed for whatever reason; or open but 100% deserted of pups...boooooo! We recently, however, seized the opportunity to explore what lies beyond the play structure, just down a short path and behind a stand of trees, and... it. is. glorious. SO well-maintained and kept! Open and visible enough that I don't feel vulnerable or unsafe walking as a solo lady. (SO superimportant and impactful these days!) There's a beautifully paved, pretty much flat, 1-mile sidewalky loop that encircles a .... GASP... beautiful disc golf course! YAY! (The course - 9 holes, iirc - is almost completely open, with no obstruction/trees/etc between the pad and the basket... *perfect* for noobs, or when you're just looking to hone your skills, or just have fun and chuck some discs while drinking some beers with no concern for Double Black Diamond course status) Parking is pretty limited. The tiny little lot closest to the play structure only has one joint entrance/exit that makes it a pain to get out again if you pull in a realize there are no available spots. Maybe parking at the library across the street is allowable?? Worth checking on... Sweet gem of a neighborhood park! We'll be back, often. (hmm...like right now? it's a beautiful day....)

As a downtown dog owner, I really can't say enough good things about this place. My apartment has a small fenced in dog "park" but it pales in comparison to the offering here at Hops and Hounds. They have a big and small dog area, and during peak hours there's a park attendant monitoring dog behaviors and keeping the area clean and safe. All of them are very attentive. Don't have a dog? Still a great place to hang out and have a drink. They have several beers on draft, with rotating taps, all of the in-demand can options, and a full bar. They also recently added a coffee and pizza venue. Love the coffee, but I haven't tried the pizza yet so I can speak to its quality. Weekly drink specials, of note are Margarita Mondays and Tap it Tuesday. The Monday offering is savings on their delicious margaritas, and the Tuesday offering is savings on any of their draft beers. Things worth knowing ahead of time: The dog park isn't free, you have to download an app, and make an account even for a day pass. The day pass is $5, but there's a monthly pass for $25 that is worth it if you live in the area. Children under 18 aren't allowed in the dog park, for their safety and the dogs, which I appreciate. On weekends there's a staffed bar that you can order drinks from without leaving the enclosed dog area. No on-site parking, but there's a paid lot adjacent to their property, and earlier in the day you can parallel park on the street for free. (Street parking is always free, but there's rarely open spots during peak hours) They have a food truck on site, Benjie's Munch Truck is a mainstay, and sometimes they have a second food truck.

Thankfully I always review my bill before signing, so I was able to remove it--but that shouldn't be necessary. I completely understand tipping and have no issue doing so when it's earned, but automatically pre-selecting a high tip--especially for something as simple as handing over canned drinks--feels inappropriate. Charging over $3 for a can of soda is one thing, but customers should still have the freedom to choose their own tip amount without pressure. What made it worse was noticing the same thing happen to the customer in front of me, who only bought a single can of Coke. The bartender (tall female with blondish hair) also advised the previous customer that they couldn't pay with cash when he brought out a $20 to pay. Are you serious!!?? This kind of practice comes across as dishonest and reflects poorly on the establishment. I hope management addresses this, because it definitely impacts the overall experience.
