Today, I went to the school office to talk about my daughter's optional subjects because she was given a subject that she didn't put in her optional subjects list. The woman in the office told me that they couldn't fix this because classes that my daughter picked were already full. If those classes were already full before summer vacation then why didn't they put "class full" sign in front of those options. If any student who join school after summer vacation is not allowed to get optional subjects of his or her choice then why do they even provide a list of all optional subjects, they should just hand in list of available subjects. This hurts feeling of new students who join after summer vacation and mentally upsets them. The school administration knows that they will get students after summer vacation, they should keep some quota or percentage in all optional subjects for them. Another funny thing that happened to me when I was in the office, the woman present in the office told me that I could see school Principal Mr. Kel Connelly for this. I agreed. That woman went in the principal office and briefed the principal about the problem and asked me to wait outside the office. I waited at the door step of principal's office for fifteen minutes, five minutes after school dismissal I left without meeting the principal. The principal Mr. Kel Connelly didn't even bother to listen to my predicament. It is very sad thing when the principal of your child's school decides to ignore you and your concerns. I felt very hurt and was quite upset that he did not have the time to even discuss my issue. Did he think that I would wait for him all day, I am a very busy women being a mother of 3 young children. I had come to this school with very high expectations, but now all those high expectations have been flushed down the toilet. Maybe the school's reputation had been great once, but now with this new principal in charge that reputation is going down the drain. By , A Very Concerned Mother

I signed up for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) course through the University of Calgary's…read moreContinuing Education department. There are roughly three AI courses that are free, thanks to Microsoft. You will hear a lot about Microsoft Copilot, its AI tool, throughout these courses. I like free courses. I didn't mind learning about Copilot. ChatGPT is the frontrunner these days. It's not my first rodeo (so fitting, as it's Calgary) for me to be a student at an Alberta university. I was with Athabasca University first. I took a couple of undergraduate math courses for interest. I then took a graduate course in program management in IT as my elective for my graduate degree. It's nice to say that I am formally a University of Calgary student. Since this course is free, there isn't a formal grade that you get at the end of it. It's kind of nice to not do assignments, tests, or exams. The course that I took was on AI essentials. It's for anyone who is interested in AI and the tools out there to help you make things easier at work or personally in your life. This course was asynchronous. It meant that we had a three-hour live session through Teams. My session was last Friday. We then had course materials (videos, PowerPoint presentation, and some supplementary materials) to go through at our own pace. I finished everything late Sunday night. I have always loved learning and the course material was fascinating to me. My first time going through graduate school (I was a Master's dropout for a brief period) consisted of declaring AI as my field of specialization for computer science. It's funny how I somehow knew that AI would be a thing, but didn't realize the extent until now. I don't have the same desire to code like I did back then. I do like to see how AI can make my job as a writer better or help me at home. Perhaps AI can fetch a decent recipe for me when I can't think of anything to make or can't be bothered searching for one online. I registered for this course in late January. I chose a date and time to participate in the live online session. The process was straightforward. Within a couple of business days, I got my unique University of Alberta student ID and was asked to create a password after getting a temporary one. Connecting to the Teams session was easy. I used my work Teams account to connect, so I didn't need to install anything. Even if you don't have Teams installed, the link throws you to your browser, so you can technically participate in the chat. One star gets removed for the discrepancy in this online session's start time. The receipt that I got said that this session was at 1 pm Mountain. The syllabus that I got both a week and a day before the live session stated 1:30 pm. I went with the latter. I entered the chat with 177 people. All I saw in the chat were folks debating whether the course started at 1 pm or 1:30 pm. Perhaps it was an oversight of the course instructor and perhaps another person handling the syllabus. It may be the course instructor handling both details and getting them wrong. It's the type of confusion that everyone didn't need on the first and only group session, but got it. Luckily, we didn't miss much. The session was recorded. The course instructor was knowledgeable. However, he had a tendency to say um a lot, which felt like a distraction. Three hours of him talking felt like an eternity. We got five minutes midway through to break, which didn't feel like a break at all. The course materials were great. I liked the videos and sample prompts to feed Copilot and more. I learned a lot. The remaining two AI courses that are free are synchronous in delivery. It means that there are three 3.5-hour sessions to attend live through Teams. I'm not sure whether I feel like attending them. Luckily, I have some time to think about it. I want to check out other courses that this university has to offer. I don't mind taking courses for interest, provided that the tuition is affordable. (96)

That morning, fell off bike and hit a tree, blood and cuts all over face and body parts. Finger/hand started to turn blue. Cuts all over her palms and they refused to give her more band-aids when the cheap band-aids fell off minutes later. No one called us. We picked up at the end and found our badly injured child. We went to the Children's Hospital for treatment. Stills talks about how horrible it was. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! I show parents the photos and they gasp.

This was pre covid and I still plan to go when they restart the overseas programs. At the presentation we sampled wine, appetizers and dessert. Beautifully pared and delicious. They made it so interesting and exciting I decided to take some of their classes in January, 2021. I signed up for 7 classes - Knife Skills, Cooking 101 (4 Classes), Stocks & Sauces and Made In France. My two favourite types of cooking are French and Asian. Needless to say I am very excited! Their in person classes are always small 10-12 people maximum so you get a lot of personal attention. Their cooking class area is so capturing the atmosphere of working in a professional cooking environment. They make it so educational, interesting, fun and motivational. Can't wait to get started! If you are interested in cooking check them out. You won't regret it. https://www.cuisineandchateau.com/

Along with the foodie phenomena of recent years, public friendly professional kitchens with…read morechef-grade teachers have been popping up all over Calgary , and all finding a voracious hungry crowd all wanting to learn from the best. And if what I've seen at Cuisine et Chateau is held at any standard of quality and excellence, then the food scene of YYC is very much alive and well. Hidden away in Kensington deep in a building shared with a tanning salon and a cafe, the Cuisine et Chateau awaits all comers who want to learn beyond the normal menus. I have to admit, it's a nice cozy place that just exudes the charm of a parisian kitchen, complete with brick walls and clean steel. Chef Thierry Meret of Le P'tite Table and La Chaumiere holds court here with Pastry Chef Marnie Fudge. Combined, the two bring a well rounded excellence and education to the students, and I can see why. At this particular event I was attending, I was given a taste of an excellent quinoa salad with grilled shrimp, replete with lemon tones and flavours. Matched with the paired wines, the dish was simply refreshing, bright and well, yummy. Needless to say, I did enjoy it immensely. It's a great introduction to the food, and an especially good indicator. A particularly nice touch is how they've made the lessons specialized for the time, style, and interests. Want to learn how to develop knife skills? They got that. How about how to make a great french of italian dish in 40 min during your lunch break? There's that. Or how about a field trip so you can cure and smoke your own meats? It's all there, and you can find out more by going to their website. I have a $120 gift certificate myself, and I'm stuck trying to figure out what I want to learn! 1 of the Yelp 100 Challenge
