New Japanese/ sushi tent in Zaandam that my boyfriend and I decided to check out last night.
I would be so embarrassed if this were my restaurant.
The rolls that came were about half a centimeter thick (no kidding, they were more like "slices" that "pieces"). The Unagi was tough, rubbery, and had no flavor. The seaweed salad had only a few stands of seaweed in it and was placed on top of a meager portion of iceberg lettuce and a mound of garlic sauce. Or maybe it was yoghurt dressing. In either case it was difficult to tell because the only flavor I could discern in the mess was SALT. The "dry" white wine tasted like sugar water with alcohol. The rice in the maki rolls was rubbery and had an overall unpleasant texture. The only real choices for sushi were salmon, tuna, or sea bass. The shrimp tempura was drowning in grease and instead of being light and crispy was just plain soggy and oily. I can't really find anything positive about this place to say, except that the doorway was kind of cool.
I understand that at an "all-you-can-eat" sushi place, yo have to be thrifty with the portions, but this was really ridiculous. In any case, NEVER AGAIN. And for my fellow Yelpers- be warned. If you decide to check this place out, be prepared for one of the worst dining experiences ever. read more
