Went for a birthday celebration. Large party (22 people) so imagine my surprise that they only had 2 chefs and one waiter working. While I'm fully cognizant that Covid has created staffing challenges, the reservation was made with enough notice and if it was going to be a challenge the party should have been notified. Weird smell as soon as we walked in. Seating at the hibachi grill was super cramped and they seated me at the corner of the table. The hibachi chef made a big deal about changing to a more comfortable seat. Even the new seats we moved to were cramped and I didn't appreciate the attitude of the hibachi chef at all. The salad had way way too much dressing and other people at the hibachi table were joking that they weren't sure which was the salad and which was the soup. My experience at this sushi bar was incredibly disappointing. I came with my mother and my friend to eat sushi but we were handed the lunch menu and none of the rolls had descriptions so when we asked for one with descriptions, our server seemed awfully peeved. She snatched the menus out of my mom's hand and returned with ONE dinner menu, with the descriptions. We asked for two more and our server turned and I could see she rolled her eyes as she walked away. She returned with the menus and we began to look at the menu, she comes back not 3 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. We told her we weren't and not ONCE did she ask if she could help us out with the menu, or if we had questions. NOT AT ALL. This occurred three times. We finally get the sushi and it was alright, hence the two stars. My friend and I enjoyed our food, but my mom ordered their Manhattan roll and the sushi did not have even HALF of the eel sauce and she did complain about it, but the server kept talking over her and explaining that they take prettier photo of the food but they do not make the food like that. My mom was flustered and told them that she did not want hers anymore and that she had lost her appetite. Again, our server just kept talking over her and just huffed when mom dismissed her. This was one of my worst restaurant lunch experiences I have had in all of Newnan, Georgia. Tokyos staff could have carried less about us being in the restaurant. There were 3 waiters and 2 head cooks behind the bar and one waitress. From the time we sat down the service was super cold. The quickly rushed us to order. Brought the smallest portion of yum yum sauce for the table for the hibachi we ordered. When we ran out of drinks and sauce we looked around to try to get someone's attention and they were all at the bar on their cell phones and not carrying that they even had customers. Have been going here for hibachi for years, back for first time since covid. Dirty counter around the hibachi grill -- previous parties' food and such -- and when I asked the server if we could have the counter cleaned, she came and wiped the grill with wipes. When we pointed to the old food on the table, she literally rolled her eyes and walked off, returning with the box of wipes, which she handed to us to wipe the food off the counter. Wow! I really enjoyed this location versus other ones I've been to around the Atlanta area. They have great and entertaining cooks here. They are also generous with the portions for hibachi and the sushi is good. AMBIANCE: I noticed that it was nice and spacious compared to the other locations I've been to. The place looks clean. They had an early bird special (Mon-Fri from 4:30 pm to 6pm I believe) so a lot of the sushi were 50% off. We got the Volcano roll and the California roll, both of which were fresh and yummy!
