I was paralyzed 3&1/2 years ago BUUUUUT I'm learning to walk again and no one has experience treating a case like mine. I've been on every mental health drug there is and I'm suffering from horrible pain. I've had 30 screws put into my back, I'm missing 4 vertebrae but got a 5" titanium block where the vertebrae USED TO BE oh and the twpo 20" rods, two mounts and 8 more screws don't qualify me for pain management. I was hassled every time I requested a referral for pain management. last time I was asked "what about all the other referrals?" they didn't take my insurance is the answer but I'm the jerk for getting frustrated with all the BS. I disagreed that I needed mental health support because this all started in 2017 and EVERY DOCTOR HAS NO EXPERIENCE WITH A CASE LIKE MINE BUT KNEW MORE THAN ME ABOUT WHAT I WAS FEELING WEATHER THIS PRACTICE OR PAIN MANAGEMENT. I can walk with proper pain management but they don't care enough about me to help that happen. take your chances

The nurse, Joy, was the complete opposite. She was always willing to help and has a good personality. My relationship with Dr. Novak started out fine. He listened, he sent me to the specialists I needed, and had a decent bedside manner. That all changed in 2020. I don't know if it was the stress of everything going on, or potentially even burnout, but his attitude did a complete 180. He was suddenly rushing me through my appointments, wasn't helping me with various issues, etc. I spent a whole year with elevated blood sugar that he refused to do anything with my meds for it - he just kept telling me to diet better and lose weight. When he finally DID something, it was to tell me to take a dosage that he's been told multiple times makes me sick. Maybe read your notes/learn someone's medical history before making decisions. This change in demeanor also happened after I got my service dog and he (naturally) started attending my appointments. I don't want to think that Novak's actually an ableist, but I can't help but wonder - especially when he made comments about my SD a couple of times. It's not as though he didn't already know my various conditions. I have zero time for doctors who can't be bothered to give me even the minimum of care. He never even entered anything into the Mercy Healthcare system. He doesn't have a computer/tablet, and hand writes everything. Which is fine, up unto the point where other physicians can't access my history or any of those details - not even my bloodwork was added in! It really just goes to show how much he cares about the health of his patients.

I have been relatively healthy all of the six decades of my life so I didn't know what to expect but I am grateful every day that I am a patient under treatment at The Hope Center for Cancer Care. Every staff member from the receptionist at the front desk to my oncologist Dr. Roger Hakimian have been kind, patient, extremely professional, and helpful in answering questions. I have been a patient there the past 8 months and they have truly made me feel like they care about me and want me to recover as much as I do. Chemotherapy was really harsh on my body, but the nurses and lab techs have made this journey tolerable. Even on the days when I wasn't the nicest person because I felt so sick, the staff was kind and patient. I am doing much better and my cancer responded well to the chemo ( the tumor is gone). I still have radiation therapy and hormonal therapy, but I am feeling much better today and I owe a lot of it to the wonderful team at this facility. To the clerical, nursing, administrative, medical, accounting, lab, and the angels that work in Infusion, from the bottom of my heart, thank you and God bless you!
