What I did not know was that my friends who arrived the day before did a military cleaning on the entire rental before we arrived. Also, there were ROACHES and SPIDERS (brown recluses). Three people were bit by spiders and had to go to the ER. We know it was a brown recluse because at least on in the area that the person fell asleep was found and killed. That particular person was bit 3 times. The roaches were in the bathrooms and kitchen. Not just one, multiple roaches of all sizes. Even ones with eggs. I have videos of a few that didn't crawl away before I could reach my phone. Unfortunately, this site will not allow me to upload a video. Or either I am Yelp illiterate

When we arrived the house was very very dirty (we actually took pictures). We called Castaways and they were short and slightly rude, as if we were making it up. So I sent them the pictures and they finally admitted it and had a maid come out SIX HOURS LATER!!! Then we found out they charge us $50 (!!!!) for a bag with ONE roll of toilet paper! REALLY??? No apology, would not call us back - just terrible.

Want to warn you in advance…read more... We just returned from a week rental in Galveston in the Pirates Beach area. We rented a Castaways property and found them easy to rent from. We never spoke with anyone, only communicated by email and paid with a credit card. The home was in a great location and close to the beach, but that is all that I can say that was a positive in this experience. Castaways does not allow you to pick up keys until 4pm and not after 5pm. O, you have a 1 hour window or you pay a $30 service for late pick up. We got to our rental home at 5:30pm, excited for the week. We went into the house and immediately noticed the furnishings were very worn down and actually quite stained. Even the throw pillows on the couch looked bad. The floors were linoleum squares that were stained and after walking around without shoes, all of us had black, dirty feet. Yikes! We had only been in the house for an hour. We decided to make the best of it and poured a glass of wine and went to sit on the patio. View to the beach was nice and we started planning our week. We sat down at the patio table and one of the chairs immediately lost a leg, when we pulled it away from the table. Clearly, it had been that way and made to look like it was not broken. Dinner was fast approaching, so we made our way into the kitchen to make an easy meal. The refrigerator was so dirty,I quickly decided to clean it before I would unpack anything or start a meal. There was not a sharp knife in the entire kitchen or even a cookie sheet to bake a frozen pizza on. The evening passed and we started to get towels out of a laundry bag that was part of our 'linen service'. There were two laundry bags and we found that one of them held sheets and one held towels. It is not fun to make beds at 9pm on the first night of your vacation, when you assumed that 'linen service' meant that towels and sheets would be on the bed and in the bathroom! There were pillows on the beds but they were very thin and I went to check the closets for extras. I found 4 extra pillows but two of them had substantial water stains and smelled musty. The other two pillows had large blood stains on them. Needless to say, we did not use them. I share this review with you so that you will know that Castaways Rental and Realty does not have a good Housekeeping standard and that the homes they rent do not need to be updated, well stocked or functional. I did call the next morning to report the pillows, dirty floor and refrigerator, broken chair, and unmowed yard. I was told that their policy requires that you call in housekeeping issues within your first hour of occupancy on the same day and they would not do anything after that time. I was told that pillows and lawn furniture were the responsibility of the homeowner and they could not offer any assistance. We spent three nights there and jumped ship. It was too much to deal with on a vacation!

We have a house that has been managed by Wolverton. It has been a horrible experience. They don't…read morehave it cleaned when they should, but then come in and clean when they are not scheduled, taking all of our linens and throwing away all our food. They don't inspect well when renters leave, so we get stuck with damages and a dirty house. I am currently searching for another option. I will not use them again to manage a property and would never rent a property that they manage. They have completely ruined the experience of owning a beach house.

Location: Its basically beachfront, and private. So it's not a crowded beach. It's also so close to the seawall, and to restaurants/ groceries/ conveniences. I recommend Seawall Coffee in the morning for delicious coffee and food (only about a mile away). House: We fit 4 kids and 5 adults very comfortably. It has great communal space for games, movie night, etc. The house feels well taken care of and up to date. Can't wait to go back!

I want to share our experience with Pelican Pointe as well as Sand and Sea rental management…read morecompany for the weekend of 2/19 to 2/22/2026. Pelican Pointe is tired and needs resuscitating. As you arrive you notice rusted screws, nails and bolts that are staining the exterior surface. This makes one wonder about the integrity of the structure. The living room chairs and rugs are stained and dull. The laminate floor is cracked near the dining table and an edge is sticking up. The windows have water and weather streaks. The skillets are terrible as food sticks to them and they are difficult to clean. The saucepans are nice. The dishwasher has parts falling out from under the machine. The primary suite toilet paper holder was loose and wiggly. The bar b que pit has seen better days. I would think Sand and Sea would insist the house be in better condition for guests but this lack of desire for a sterling experience spills over into their lack of guest amenities. I have stayed in many airbnbs, vrbos, and realty managed properties across the U.S. This is one of the worst. It is poorly cleaned. The refrigerator smelled like fish. Food crumbs and particles were found in the utensil drawers. Cobwebs were observed under the kitchen counter. It is not adequately stocked with basic necessities. Sand and Sea provided a welcome pack of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bar of hand soap and a make up remover pad. They do NOT provide bath soap nor gel. While my husband was showering with the bar of soap, I was washing my face with shampoo. More alarming is the lack of anti bacterial soap in the kitchen. If one is to wash their hands before handling food, they will wash their hands with the soap they just used in the shower and cleaned their genitals with. Being a medical professional, this is not hygienic. I asked for anti bacterial soap and bath gel during our stay but was told they were not provided. Yes, the home does have a coffee machine but bring your own K cups, sugar and crème. These are not provided. Also bring salt and pepper. These are not provided. Bring your own insect repellant as mosquitos swarm the area. Guests are expected to take out the trash upon leaving but none of the bathroom trashcans had trash liners so the guest has to take the kitchen trash bag from under the sink and go to each bathroom trash can and empty into the larger trash bag. We stayed for 2 nights and were provided 1 towel each. Again, being a medical professional, a fresh towel after each shower is needed. Yes, I could have gone to another bathroom's towel supply but if all capacity guests were present, still only 1 towel for multiple nights. There were some positives about this property. The view of the water was nice. The beds were very comfortable. The downstairs lamps have touch on/off and have integrated charging stations. It was a short walk to the beach. The negatives fully outweigh the positives on this property. I will not be coming back. I will never use nor recommend Sand and Sea again.

We enjoyed our stay at Stella Mare…read more We felt a little crowded--we could hear the AC on the rig next to us start up and shut down throughout the night--that's how close we were. We chose a space near the playground so our kids could have space to run around when we were "home". Maybe this area is for future expansion of the park, but it was definitely spacious back there. They also were able to ride bikes into the evening as the roads were well lit by street lights and the lights others had up for Christmas. Having been a victim to bath house theft, I didn't like that the showers didn't have a changing area attached to them. I'm now a nervous nelly who doesn't like not having my toiletries and clothes all in the same area as where I'm showering. I also didn't like having to tiptoe to the changing area after showering, especially if the floor is wet. I'm not a big fan of putting myself or my kids on display, so moving from the shower to the changing curtain area I just a towel isn't ideal for me. Another downside is that the laundry is in the restrooms. If I start the laundry, Hubby can't go turn it over if I'm nursing the baby or doing something else when the cycle is done. I'd suggest avoiding spots 30 and 31 as you're right next to the dumpsters. If I could smell them on a cool day in December, imagine how they smell on a hot day in the summer?
