When we finally made it to the counter, we stood there for about five minutes before anyone acknowledged us--despite there being plenty of staff on hand. The person who ended up taking our order seemed either overwhelmed, new, or unsure of what they were doing, which made the service less than smooth. That said, they do have a solid selection of beers. Unfortunately, out of the four stouts I tried in my flight, three completely missed the mark, and the one I did enjoy was just okay. To be fair, it was a busy event, so I don't want to hold that entirely against them. I'd definitely consider coming back on a regular day to see how the experience compares when things are a bit calmer.

One area for improvement is product availability. I enjoy Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur and was disappointed to learn that this location does not stock it or offer the ability to request special orders. By comparison, other liquor stores allow you to request certain products and the Mountain Brook ABC Store consistently carries Solerno Liquor. Additionally, customer service could be improved. As it is now, the ambiance of the store does not encourage customers to spend more money. It encourages them to get out as quickly as possible. A greater emphasis on professionalism, courtesy, and customer engagement would enhance the overall shopping experience. While the store meets basic needs, there is room for improvement in both customer service and product flexibility. I recommend this as a liquor store if it is the closest. No greeting, no smile just a condescending stare and surly attitude that misrepresents Alabama retail friendly hospitality especially for a State employee. Surely she can be placed in another ABC store location where her demeanor might be less noticeable. She's worn her welcome out at 1425 Montgomery Hwy, Vestavia Hills location.
