In May of 2022, I performed work for Verne Joy Edwards. We negotiated payment based on performance. I did not hear from her firm until July of 2022, when one of her junior attorneys who has since left contacted stating she was representing my ex-husband. He'd hired this firm to harass me and boy did they. I immediately disclosed the conflict and was told Verne Edwards would call back. She never did. She never discussed the conflict. When I engaged a third party, she lied and said we would discuss the conflict and later that no conflict existed. She never discussed anything and the conflict was glaring even to nonlawyers. At this time she had not paid me for my work, and as a contractor ( not an employer) she had a duty to perform under the contract and also a duty to reveal the conflict. She did not produce the waiver when requested and refused to withdraw. Instead having her junior attorney Alycia Chantelle Vail mockingly raised the potential conflict in Court without raising the merits and went all the way through trial with the knowledge that all members of the firm were conflicted as the conflict is imputed to all members of the firm. During this time Verne Edwards would not clarify who was lead counsel, cocounsel etc. the silent admission that she was aware the conflict existed. She even hired a new attorney and put her on the case. The attorney left within weeks of learning of the conflict. Over the course of a year Verne Edwards refused to withdraw. And she actually furthered the conflict by reporting the nature of my work to my ex husband and his wife who the members of the firm knew stalked me . I will say she seems to have a reputation with a certain judge who will cover and order for the erasure of evidence (he has earned a reputation for doing so and my transcripts prove it is not just a rumor) for her so that may be to your advantage to use this firm's services. Finally, her junior attorney Jenny Winkelman, had full access to the OFW account which revealed her client had falsified a complaint. The attorneys had an ethical duty to report their client and the conflict and they have not. Three years later my children are living with their abusive father because the members of this firm refused to take accountability and covered up the actions with a unconstitutional order signed by the very judge who ordered earsure fo 3 separate transcripsts. I am sure her previous disciplinary action merely scratches the surface of what Verne Joy Edwards has actually done or is willing to do for a quick buck.

Lazy, Unprofessional, and Dishonest!…read more We hired Ken at Piedmont Injury Law after a horrible accident (we were not at fault) and couldn't be more disappointed with the results. First, Ken had us sign a contract that awarded him 40% of gross recovery which is about 7-10% higher than the industry average (that should have been the first warning sign). After signing his contract, Ken did not put any time or effort into our case and dropped the ball at every turn. We had several meetings in his office where he and his assistant were not even prepared to tell us where our case was and fumbled through papers time and time again. Fortunately, my wife and I keep great records and notes because we eventually had to work on our own case and become our own advocates. We had to negotiate on our own behalf the cost of treatments and medical bills even though Ken said they would handle that (it even states that in his contract). Ken and Piedmont Injury Law still took 40% of what was awarded! Then, on top of everything else, it took Ken 6 MONTHS after he received payment (settlement) from our insurance to pay us.
