Best rheumatologist I have had. A great listener who takes thorough notes and carefully examines your symptoms.

I had a really wonderful experience at Santa Rosa Community Health's Vista Clinic and I truly…read morerecommend them to anyone who may be struggling to access affordable healthcare. After turning 26, I lost my health insurance, and navigating the healthcare system without coverage has been really difficult. I was even denied Medi-Cal, so finding affordable medical care felt overwhelming. Thankfully, the staff here worked with me using a sliding-scale payment system. My visit was only $25, and my medication was just $10. I can't express how much that meant to me. I didn't have a traditional appointment. I was given a standby appointment, and although I had to wait, my vitals were taken in less than an hour, and I was able to see the doctor a little over an hour after arriving. When I first got there, there wasn't anyone at the front desk to check me in, which was a little confusing, but once I checked in, the staff provided me with a helpful information packet and lots of useful resources. I was born and raised going to Kaiser, so going somewhere different initially made me feel uncomfortable. However, everyone was so kind, welcoming, and respectful. My doctor was knowledgeable, thorough, and made me feel like I was in good hands. Healthcare can be stressful enough without having to worry about whether you can afford to be seen. I'm genuinely grateful that this clinic worked with me and made getting the care and medication I needed possible. You may have to wait a little, especially with a standby appointment, but for the affordable pricing, kindness of the staff, and overall quality of care, my experience was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend Santa Rosa Community Health's Vista Clinic to anyone looking for accessible and affordable healthcare. One more thing I thought was really special was that they had a little farmers market set up inside the clinic where you could get free fresh fruits and vegetables! I thought that was such a wonderful touch. It really showed me that they care about the community and want to support people beyond just their medical needs. It's not every day you come across a healthcare facility that offers resources like that, and I genuinely appreciated it. You can really tell they care about helping people who need it most.

I'm sure Dr. Hopkins is very competent…read more He's the cardiologist my own doctor uses for himself. He replaced the aortic valve of a good friend of mine, who has no complaints. I liked him when I first met him. So I was very surprised, when after wearing a monitor to check on the details of my irregular heartbeat, things changed. He was clearly bothered that I had asked an assistant to give me copies of the 30 pages of diagnostic data. He never asked me why. Well, it so happens that I have training as a nurse, and had, for my own interest, taken a semester long course in reading electrocardiogram results. So he said, you have atrial fibrilation. I want to tell you about the 10 medications we need to choose from. I said "excuse me, but my first goal is to understand the cause, not possible medications." He again acted upset and upbraided me for interrupting him. Then I said: "I'm beginning to feel angry and need to leave now." He acted very surprised, and said: "are you coming back". I said: I don't think so. Then I learned that he had subsequently (CYA!!!) called my primary care physician to complain that I had acted in anger toward him; total misrepresentation of our experience together! Fortunately, my doctor next referred to me to Dr. John Hunter, also in Santa Rosa. Dr. Hunter is great. Completely different approach to a patient. He's a busy man, but acts like he has all the time in the world to listen to questions and concerns and discuss matters. With him I feel like part of a team. I feel respected.

Dr . Hopkins and everyone on his staff are simply extraordinary in every conceivable professional…read moreway. He is the doctor that my many doctors refer and I trust no one else with my heart. I've had two previous heart attacks and related ongoing problems. The one thing that I appreciate the most about Dr Hopkins is that he speaks using non-medical terminology in explaining processes and treatments. When you leave his office, you know exactly what is going on and his support staff actually does support the patient. They bend over backwards for the patient so you know that you've an entire support group looking after you.
