Joint replacement and fusion offered uncertain success, while gel and steroid injections provided temporary relief. My primary care physician recommended Dr. Carlson for non-surgical treatment for osteoarthritis and joint pain. He praised Dr. Carlson's advancements in PRP, a treatment made from concentrated platelets derived from the patient's own blood. Skeptical but desperate for relief, I scheduled a consultation and felt hopeful for the first time. Dr. Carlson reviewed my scans and diagnosed my condition using ultrasound, and had confidence he could provide relief. He created a detailed treatment plan and explained everything to me. After three months and three rounds of injections, I've been relatively pain-free and now walk five miles every morning. If you're experiencing joint pain, mobility issues, arthritis, or any other injury, I highly recommend contacting Dr. Carlson. PRP is typically less costly, quicker recovery, and for me, offered a better outlook than surgery. I was pleased with everything from our initial meeting to the final treatment. Working with Dr. Carlson was extraordinary. He dedicated time to explain his treatment procedure, ensuring my comprehension and comfort throughout the process. The entire office staff exceeded expectations, particularly in the healthcare industry.

The moment I called to setting up his doctor's appointment, to checking him in to see his orthopaedic was very professional. While we were waiting to be seen we really enjoyed to comfortable chairs, vending machines and the free wifi in the waiting area. The entire staff working at the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic was very kind to my 12-year-old son Rain. And doctor Curtis Gaylord MD is truly the best pediatric orthopaedic surgeon specialist on this planet. Doctor Gaylord is one of my son's favorite super hero, who can fix, mend, and repair any injuries or broken bones.

It was like a barn with standing room only. Mass chaos! The kiosk is right at the entry doors and many patients lack the skills necessary to check in. I was finally seen after more than an hour wait. I had several injuries but they only focused on my wrist??? I landed on my right arm/shoulder/hip/knee/ribs and only the wrist was of interest?? Had an X-ray but too swollen, got an arm brace and a follow up for today. KOC said they "don't do ribs", I believe my elbow is fractured along with my rib(s). I struggle to breathe or get comfortable, and have a weird bump past my elbow that is suspect of bone fragment. Today I go for my follow up. Appt. was at 9:10. I checked in at 9:03 because I completed all my paperwork and paid my co-pay online. I received the "you are checked in for your appt" notice and took a seat. At 10:10, after the lobby cleared and all new patients arrived, I asked when I could expect to be seen. I was told I was "next". At 10:40, when the lobby had almost cleared again, I went back to the desk and said I've been here an 1 1/12 and I am leaving. The worker, not apologetic for my ridiculous wait time; said "I'll let them know" in a very musical tone. LAST TIME AT KOC! I am a retired healthcare admin. This is absolutely the worst lack of respect for patients I've seen in some time. All I expected was for one, of the numerous, employees to say "I apologize for your wait" or something like that, I would have felt a bit more appreciated as a patient. But KOC's model in herding people by the droves and maximizing profits feels greasy and greedy. I agree physicians should have investment in their practice. But this seems to be an unsustainable model. No apologies, no care, so beware! Maybe they are experts, but they severely lack appreciation for their primary source of revenue, patients!! There are also orthopedic experts NOT affiliated with this practice that would truly appreciate you as a patient! Bonus, they can also provide top notch care.

Unfortunately, my more recent experiences have been extremely disappointing. Last year, while being treated for two broken pinkies, the X-ray manipulation was very painful and, in my opinion, premature. I now have permanently bent pinkies and deeply regret not declining those X-rays. Four weeks ago, I had foot surgery here. The surgery center's billing department was frustrating to work with and provided inconsistent information about what could and couldn't be billed together. On the day of surgery, patients were asked to arrive very early only to wait over an hour. After providing a urine sample, I was left standing in the hallway while staff walked past without assistance until I sought help myself. Most concerning is the lack of post-operative support. This past week I've experienced severe pain around the surgical screws and have been unable to reach a live person despite multiple messages. After paying over $10,000 for this procedure, the fact that I may need to go to the ER because I can't get a callback is unacceptable. Based on my recent experiences, I cannot recommend this practice.
