That said, this shop is a great place to get gifts for people who do smoke. I've bought more than a couple of those Zippo lighters here for friends for Christmasses, birthdays, and so on. The service is pretty good, too. I think they're pretty friendly. Always chatty, asking how your day has been, that sort of thing. I like that, and that's part of the reason why I do shop here.

Even further, they're fuckin' proud of their cigarette vending ways and there's a lot to be said for a little political incorrectness and fuckin' honesty these days. Eh? Eh? 'Pass us me cigs love.' You hear people talkin' that way 'round here every day. It's awesome. 'Duck down the Cignal and pick us up some fags would ya darl.' I fuckin' love that shit. Beyond ciggies, of which they stock thousands (not that you'd be able to tell these days with all the blank labels and stuff), they do papers, porn and girlie mags. They have a bit of stationery as well, but you'd hardly call it the focus of the business. 'I'll have four cartons of Winnie Blues and two of Styvie Lights thanks. And have you got got any of those Marlboro Lights? Me daughter loves 'em. I actually heard someone order that in Cignal. I am not shitting you.

As soon as I walked in the door I was drawn to the beautifully decorated, colourful lacquered cigar boxes. These babies would look better on my dressing table with my jewels in them than cigars I reckon! They are surrounded by equally colourful and decorative ash trays and lighters. As I walked around the store, the more serious cigar paraphernalia was revealed. There are cigar cutters and scissors in all shapes and sizes (cutters make me curl my fingers into fists because of a certain Mission Impossible film). There's a walk in humidor which smells really earthy and is stocked with the most fascinating array of thick ones, thin ones, short ones and long ones. And that, is about the extent of my cigar knowledge! If you're into cigars, or want a gift for someone who appreciates them, look no further.

I have smoked plenty of fine cigars (to include Montecristos) and this had none of the qualities the sales person (or the cigar magazines) said it would. I cannot tell whether the second cigar was indeed real, but it at least tasted like it was made with better tobacco and generally burned like it should. Unfortunately, I was several hundred kilometers away from the store when I went to smoke the cigars. So, no easy way to request a refund. I have smoked enough cigars to know that even the best brands have will the occasional poorly constructed cigar. But the tobacco generally tastes like it should. I am not suggesting that the store knowingly sells fakes. The store seemed reputable, especially because it is on the ground floor of a well known hotel. But I would encourage its managers to check their supply chain.

The lady working there was also really good with helping a couple of us work out some cheap make up products for a university film project. It can be scary going to buy these sorts of products at other stores as I had no idea at how expensive "good" make up and shampoos really are! They tell you that they are giving you a cheap generic, but if you shop around you can often get a better price elsewhere. I found out yesterday that I could get an equivalent script at Priceline for less than half of Chemist Warehouse charged me last year! As a pensioner, I found it outrageous having to pay over $50 for 6 tablets there in May! People go to Chemist Warehouse automatically because they believe the advertising - that's why you have to wait a long time for scripts. I got sick of waiting a few months ago and went into Priceline to check the price of a private script to discover that is was the same, so I started going there instead and find the service is faster and the pharmacist and staff are more helpful and friendly. I also was pleased to see that the Pharmacist informed me of a much cheaper option through the PBS to get the equivalent of a very pricey private script. Priceline Balaclava also give Seniors Discount on normal priced items. It's about time Chemist Warehouse showed more interest in helping customers to find the cheapest price instead of lining their own pockets! The service there also leaves a lot to be desired as it's often hard to find a staff member to assist you and they don't always know their stuff.

Expect to find a few weird and wonderful trinkets, clothes and home wares to design and inspire any living space - or meditation/spiritual space for that matter. Another great establishment to buy those much needed bits and pieces to decorate the home, and for spiritual survival or for a not so great and/or emotionally tough day. As the name implies, you might feel that your chakras are coming back into balance; or edification that they still are in balance somehow. If you are into fine quality spiritual items, and just spirituality and the hippie scene in general; this establishment needs to be seen to be appreciated, and not to mention in a great locale.
