Oh boy...where to begin? I stopped here in a pinch on my way home from work, as the cigar shop was…read moreclosed. They advertised cigars, so I gave it a try. Proprietor was nice and the store was clean. The store is a combination head shop/tobacco shop/vape shop, so I bypassed the cannabis products as that is not my thing. This review is solely for their cigars. They had a relatively impressive humidor with some quality cigars, albeit at inflated prices. Again, I was in a pinch, so I made a few purchases anyway despite the markup. However, upon getting home, each cigar I purchased proceeded to crack and fall apart as they were smoked, indicating poor humidification. Whoever maintains these humidors: please get a handle on proper humidity, because you are drying out what would be some excellent cigars, and you're selling cigars that are DRIED OUT. It defeats the purpose of enjoying a fine cigar. Lesson learned, and $60 down the drain. Won't be back.

My first experience with Total Wines was over in West Orange…read more Then I started to cheat on West Orange with their River Edge location. Now, once again, I find myself straying... sorry River Edge but Totowa's making me weak in the knees. Lots of aisles. Lots of product on those shelves. Lots of space between the rows so you and your fellow shoppers aren't at risk of bumping into each other with your carts. If you've been to a Total Wines before - you know how it goes... they're usually the size of an old Toys R Us but aimed at adults looking to waste, I mean spend, money on booze (or cigars, which seem to have a serious fanbase the few times I've been here). I've found some new/unique imported beers as well as a few interesting organic wines at this location that I never saw at their other stores. [Every Total Wines location is a bit of a drive for me but worth the mileage.]

I spoke with a manager named Melissa and I don't want to be negative, so I'll just say she did not seem to take the issue seriously. I would not have made this review, because the cashier could just be having a bad day and it's okay not to like me. But a bad manager needs feedback for the good of the store and to do better for future customers. This isn't mentioning that we ended up switching lines to this rude cashier because the other cashier didn't let us know that she was waiting for a customer to return to pay while his family held up the line. This is not abnormal, but I do regret switching lines, but I regret visiting here more. I will say that the people in the store that asked if I needed help were very nice. And the gentleman in central customer service area was quick to help when I asked for a manager. Perhaps some of them deserve a promotion. They have a very wide selection, but I find the prices to be just a little higher than other big beverage stores in the area. Especially this other chain that is a barn full of good service and cheaper prices for the items I get. This is the first Total Wine that I've found such casual rudeness and divisiveness. What a stain on the brand this location is.
