It's Sunday, (liquor stores are closed) we were attending the Lickskillet celebration. My husband pulls his truck and flatbed trailer (had finished pulling a float in the celebration parade) in the parking area of the liquor store closes to the highway. It was announced, over the band's microphone for the owner of the "truck and trailer" to move their vehicle. No problem, it's ours and I was not sure where my husband was. We were waiting to load the 7 bales of hay we had just purchased in the Lickskillet celebration auction! The owner of the liquor store was asked "when do you want it moved"? His reply in a very hostile manner, in front of maybe 25 folks in attendance of the celebration, was "RIGHT NOW"! The owner of the liquor store told my husband, as they became in contact, "get off my property, NOW"! There were words, apparently, I was as not there but can imagine, judging by the owner's demeanor that ended in FUCK YOU MAN! Appears we really inconvenienced this liquor store owner, on a small town Safternoon!!!! We will no longer do business with this establishment and encourage all others to go to the next town to buy your liquor!!

We are so happy that they are doing well and even opened a new downtown location. But of course the farm location is like home to us. Oh yes, the mead! Always fun to try the different flavors. So many favorites! We enjoy Marooned, Viva Sangria, Violet Beauregard, Hot & Bothered and it is always a treat to try the new reserves. Head on out and enjoy the working honey farm and stay for the mead! There are options to stay the night for the out of towners. The Honey House and Cabin as well as camping spots.

They have tables outside and a great screened in sunroom that was very popular. My hubby and I ordered a Mead flight to sample 4 different meads. We enjoyed them all but we ended up buying Seventeen. It is made with strawberry and lime. One strange thing happened though. When went to pay for our flight ($12) and bought our bottle of mead - the girl put the bottle has her tip. (See photo) Our credit card company sent us a message asking if we intended on giving a 200% tip. This left me speechless. I would come here again but definitely look at my receipt before leaving.

Staff was super nice, I didn't get her name (the young lady with glasses who was working at noon on Saturday 3/28) at the counter was polite and smiling and was able to chit chat with me while checking me out which honestly was great, because long drives can be isolating and a friendly smile and chit chat while paying honestly left me feeling revived and smiling. There was a guy also working but he was just standing there and when we went to the checkout he didn't say anything just stood back. That's when the girl said she could help us checkout and she was great. The guy was talking with another person loudly when we walked in but went radio silent when we went to his side of the counter. The girl was amazing, the guy could definitely learn a few things about customer service from her. If the owner or manger see's this give that girl a raise, she made me get back on the road with a smile and employees like that are rare. I will definitely be stoping by again on my way back to Austin to gas up and grab a snack.
