I saw the most recent production of The Nutcracker with the RCB, and as always, I was blown away by the intricacy of the choreography and the thought that was put into every detail, from the costumes, to the set, to the lighting. This year, I noticed some changes to the choreography that I really loved--they are always striving to improve and find new methods of storytelling! This year, in addition to the performances at Eastman Theatre with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, there were also performances held at Canandaigua Academy. I very much appreciated that because the tickets were at a much lower price point, which allowed me to be able to enjoy the performance, and I'm sure many other people who wouldn't have necessarily been able to attend the pricier performances at Eastman. I'm so glad that Rochester has such a thriving professional dance community, and I can't wait to see where it goes next!

As a parent you can see your child's progress as they grow, but nothing is more special than seeing the support from the older girls to the younger girls. Classes include ballet/tap/jazz combination as well as specialty classes like hip hop and lyrical and more! The teachers are very supportive and positive and make the dance experience - which is a sport in my humble opinion, enjoyable - dance is hard work but fun a beautiful to watch - Elite makes sure all the kids are stars! Elite is our home away from home and we look forward to many more years of dancing!

The training here stands out immediately. Technique is a priority, and it's taught with precision and purpose. Every class is thoughtfully planned so each dancer is truly learning and progressing, not just going through the motions. She has tried to implement ideas to add structure to the studio (which we all loved the idea of) but because she is so incredibly immature it has been more negative than anything. She talks terribly about parents and students she doesn't like (as if she doesn't think word gets around). She is quickly gaining the reputation of saying one thing and doing another. It's a shame because our kids have been dancing with each other for years and still have a passion for their craft. So we are forced to shut our mouths for the sake allowing our kids to dance with their friends they've become so close with over the years. Most of the parents are professionals and business owners themselves. And are genuinely shocked when they communicate with her. And even more shocked at how immature she is when she walks around the studio. For lack of better words, she's reminding us of everything we hated about high school. Please do yourself a favor and rethink placing your child in this studio. Go somewhere that you're comfortable allowing your child to spend a lot of time at. Because once they've established friendships and their place on a team it's nearly impossible to place them in a different studio. Thank goodness for most of the teachers there. But you better hold your breath if you get a teacher that's in cahoots with her because your child WILL loose their passion for all things dance. One more thing. They should've checked the tags for the costumes they charged $120 for last year. We know it was $9.89 from Shein. We ordered it to make sure and it was the SAME EXACT ITEM. Same tag and everything.

The bathroom is on the basement level and there are a lot of stairs required to climb to get there. The building is accessible with elevators available on each level. We enjoyed the show and had no issues with our seats.

This is an easy 10 minute drive off the Thruway via the Canandaigua exit, and offers a large, free parking lot. It's bright and spacious inside, and the offerings include ballet, tribute bands, political speakers, journalists, and musical theater. I'm happy to say I have a new arts venue to add to my rotation, and will definitely be checking out their upcoming events. A note: there are a decent amount of stairs at the front entrance, but there is an accessible entrance on the other side of the building.

That said, there are a few things the venue could improve. Signage for entry is minimal we found ourselves waiting outside in the rain, hoping someone would pass by to point us in the right direction. Once inside, there was some confusion at Will Call, as staff initially couldn't locate our tickets. This was eventually resolved, but the process was a bit frustrating after already dealing with the weather and unclear entry. Something I was not expecting was a three floor walk up....While I managed fine, it's worth noting there doesn't appear to be an elevator, which could be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns. If I'm wrong let me know. A highlight of the evening was the opportunity to meet members of the Silkroad Ensemble, including Artistic Director Rhiannon Giddens. Very cool! These are world class musicians Grammy winners, Pulitzer Prize recipients, and Juilliard-trained artists--and the music, representing cultures from around the world, came together beautifully. It actually reminded me of a radio station I used to listen to in Chicago called "World Beat." On WBEZ or something.... One minor note: the seating could be more comfortable, and a bit more legroom would go a long way. Overall, it was a lovely experience and glad I finally got to visit this venue and it won't be my last. Parking is available via street parking or nearby lots.
